The Memorial Park at Meadowbank is a little hideaway. There are several bench seats that over look the Parramatta River and at sunrise or sunset this is such a tranquil place to think about the worries of the world. Beautiful birds such as White Cockatoos and Rosellas make their nests in the hollows of the native Australian gum trees throughout the park. Flocks of the birds can be seen on an early morning walk or just after rain. A possum or two can be easily seen during the night. The night calls of the possums are often very obvious. This park is on Meadow Crescent which is a high density area of apartments/units however there is a good parking area along the park.
There are three sets of free barbecues. Hint!!... check they are working before you invite all those great friends for the BBQ. I have been caught once and then rang the Ryde Council to let them know to repair them. Several covered picnic tables makes this a pleasant area to have lunch or dinner with friends and family.
Take time to look at the plaques, it is an interesting park. The park is popular on the weekends with families. This park is very close to Meadowbank Wharf and the Meadowbank Station. read more
