While traveling we found a Menard's when looking for a hardware store. Never been to one before. Went in for some plumbing items. It took tracking down two different employees to figure out where the item we needed was located as we were told in was located on the wrong isle. Went to check out and there is one cashier employee to cash people out that had a very long line. Help yourself check-outs were open and also had lines. Why can't stores understand by the lines for human help that customers do not want to help themselves? We will continue to seek out locally owned hardware stores that offer customer service for the people who keep them in business. read more

I am a bit mixed on this store, like really mixed on this store. Some aspects of it are great and some, not so much. The good, they have a solid variety of items and brands to choose from and the store is very shoppable. The layout is great, store is clean and they are well staffed with "some" very helpful people. I was surprised to not see them cary any really known and proven name brands in the power tools area (dewalt and the like) but I cannot say anything negative about what they do have as I have not used the unknown brands they do carry. The bad, well I have purchased two doors from them since living in the area. 1 was a shop door and that went great - cannot complain. 2 was a custom front door and this was a bad experience to say the least. It took 3 tries to get a door that was correct as well as undamaged. The first time, the door was nearly installed after total repot of the old door and low and behold, the door was not right. Cobble together the old door frame and then the store was trying to get in a new door that was undamaged. Took several tries and several trips into town to pick up the door from the store. Not a short drive by any means. I also incurred expense with he contractor to attempt to install the door, then to come back and put in the new (3rd) door that was finally correct. Quite the expense for me to go back and forth several times as well as pay someone to come out and work on the door. What did the store do to make me feel better, well not much. I did get a 40.00 discount on a garage door opener, better than nothing I guess but this still cost me a good chunk of money before the job was completed. read more

One thing that is terribly apparent with Menards, is the fact that their corporate, and in this case, local management, evidently doesn't care about their customers ability to shop elsewhere. In this particular instance, by training their cashiers to say please, or especially, thank you. I may be old school, but as someone who owned retail businesses for years, I made certain my employees thanked my customers for spending their hard earned dollars at my place of business. Whether it is a dollar, or tens of thousands, they all are supporting my ability to be in business. I would much rather have someone hand me my change/check out my purchases, and at the very least say, "Thank you!", vs. nothing at all, or, "There you go." After all, without your customers, your business fails. Too many businesses/managers take their customers for granted in this day and age, and at this Menards in Bemidji, management failed. read more

Just left the store. I was planning to spend around 500.00 No one could find the privacy fence panels listed as in stock on store website. Staff told me without a SKU number, he couldn't help me. I then attempted 2 purchase 2 coolers in sale. The service manager was running the service desk and answering calls while complaining about being stuck running the register I was checking out at. Sale price didn't come up. Her response "IF these are actually on sale, I don't have anyone to check the price.". We left, purchased nothing. I have 115.00 in Menards rebate money, I am a loyal customer... Staff was so incompetent, they couldn't help me spend anything today. read more

Terrible Yard service wasted over a hour and a half of my time because there employees don't know how to do there jobs. I wouldnt even give this store a half a star straight garbage. Also their gate attendant didn't even look over my 5k order just scanned my receipt and let me go. read more

The guy in plumbing needs to be fired! I drove 60 miles for parts to repair a furnace. I got there at 8:40pm and he treated me like shit. Throwing fittings around like a spoiled brat! I ended u leaving without the parts I needed. Tomorrow I get to drive 60 miles the other way to buy from a competitor. Believe me, I will not shop at this store again! read more

I wish I could find something good to say about this place. Customer service does not exist. We attempted to purchase a dishwasher...of course no help in selecting one. We decided on the one we wanted and (finally) got someone to "help" us. It was rather department manager. They didn't have the one we wanted but they did have one similar...an extra hundred dollars but fine, we'll take it. We get around to pick it up, it's the floor model. no packaging, insulation already flopping around and we have 65 miles to go in an open truck. Not going to work. The managers attitude was rude at best. We got a snarky "sorry" out of him for not letting us know it was a floor model that he had. BTW, on my way to the service desk for my refund, I walked by the exact model that we had wanted that was on display. I did complain to the store manager but might as well save my breath. Home Depot and L&M Fleet are right there...we won't be back to Menards! read more

So my girlfriend and I went into menards because we needed a new bed as we damaged ours by storing on it's side during moving. They had had beds displayed to test out and in stock on the shelves. We decided to go with the "best" serta mattress but upon checkout we were told there were none of those in stock, we thought about a different model only because the bed is really uncomfortable, we were told 7-10 days which was longer than we wanted to wait but we wanted the right bed for us so we were going to wait. About 3 days in we got an email saying the order was in in full. We got excited cleared the bed and dumped it on the way to menards to pick up the new bed. We got there only to find out it was the bed frame, when I asked why it said delivered in full, the could not answer why the employees made separate orders for the bed frame and mattress. Well great now our bed is at the dump and we still have 3-5 days before the order comes in so we spent money on an air mattress. Well I am still shaking angry while writing this because now our air mattress is going flat, it has been OVER 7 WEEKS and now 3 calls and 2 store visits with nothing but rudeness at the store and all 3 calls placed we got the run around and said we would receive a return call back and never did. I finally went in and asked to speak to a manager about it and and they just brushed me off saying they were to busy to talk to me. Obviously I am never spending any money at menards again I have no idea if or when the $1200 bed will arrive but I am currently getting advice on how to "make this right". read more
