Worst manicure I've ever had. I went in for a gel manicure and the nail tech insisted I get powder gel, so I agreed. I am familiar with powder gel as I used to get it all the time before switching over to regular gel. I normally wouldn't care this much but being that I had an important event the following Monday, I relied on them for a decent manicure and it was a huge waste of time and money. My nails came out fat, uneven and look like big bubbles. I told him 5 times to shave them down more and make them even and he said no they look good. The manager didn't even offer a discount or fix them, he just told me to come back to have them fixed but I live in Manhattan and that is not an option for me. I now have to find the time to get them redone somewhere else and spend another hour and $50 on nails. Never again with this place. read more

Worst experience I've ever had. The spa music was cute, but that was all. Me and my friend went in to get a gel manicure. I had an inspo pic for the design I wanted all ready and it wasn't even CLOSE to the design I wanted., neither was my friend's. It looked terrible. They were also very rough with my fingers, leaving me with several scratches and small cuts from their very rough sandpapering. The way they handled my fingers made me feel like my joints were about to pop out, with them twisting my fingers in its socket. I just ended up redoing my nails at home. My friend ended up with an infection from all the cuts on her finger. All in all, terrible experience, never going there again. read more

So I needed a fill in and pedi like ridiculously bad. I live in the DMV, but was traveling back home to NJ for the long weekend. So I figured, enjoy the weekend-- nails day for mom and I. I made my appointment thru Yelp ahead of time. I forgot to leave my name, but when I walked in, they knew exactly who I was and what I was there for. I was pleased and slightly impressed. Three or four people looked at our nails, trying to figure out how to replicate what we normally get at home. Apparently, VA is still the south, and super disconnected from everything, because the owner, Mennie, told us it was best to get SNS. The gel we get back home, isn't the same as in NJ. I had gotten SNS before, back home and was thoroughly disgusted to pay $65 for a full set of too-thick, bubbly nails. Needless to say, I was hesitant to try again, but also left with little options. I mean. I had chosen the place because of the Yelp reviews, so I guess I should trust the work... It was a great decision. Mennie took her time, and her work is ah-mazing. Clipped my cuticles, no pain. Quick and efficient. Even like 3 other employees stood and watched. My coffin is perfect, the ombré she suggested makes me feel like the stars are on my nails. She was really attentive to my preferences and made sure to meet them as best she could. Standard pedi, but once again, I was impressed by the attention to detail. The staff was helpful and polite. They helped mom and I choose colors while we got our pedis done. The shop's atmosphere was pleasant, very relaxing and nicely decorated. But most importantly, this shop is cleeeaaannn. I saw no dust anywhere. They were sweeping while we were there, and they use single-use liners for the pedis. For two pedis, and two SNS (one nail repair) the total was $130. Bottom line: I now have a shop in NJ. Reasonable prices, awesome work, and a clean, friendly environment. Do yourself a favor, and drop by. You won't regret it. I didn't. read more

Visited this spa for the first time today and was extremely pleased!! I walked into a clean and serene atmosphere with the soothing sound of "spa" music playing in the background. I had an appointment at 2:45 pm. I arrived early and was greeted and taken right away. Oh, and they offered me tea or water!! I've never been offered a beverage at the places that I've gone to so that was bonus for me. I got a spa pedicure by Penny and it was amazing! She did a great paint job, nail shaping as well as massage. I got a powder full set done by Mennie. I'm very particular about my nails and she went above and beyond my expectations!! Both ladies' attention to detail was greatly appreciated. It only took 1 hour 40 min for both of my services which is wonderful because I'm usually short on time. In addition to their great timing, they are just as efficient with the quality of work. They also have a rewards program for free services and offer a discount if you pay cash. This spa is a 25 min drive (each way) for me but it's totally worth the experience. There's also free parking on the street. I have definitely found my new place. :-) read more

Mennie's has officially lost my business. I went to get a spa pedicure and a gel manicure today. Everything went well until I went to pay and the guy asked me how much tip I wanted to add. I told him the amount and he looked at me in disbelief. He raised his voice and harassed me into giving him a 15% tip. I thought the tip was what we wanted to give and can afford- mind you I am currently on maternity leave. Never coming back here. read more

Had the most TERRIBLE experience here today. I made a 1:30 appointment for my mother, sister, and I; 3 regular pedicures, and a gel, powder dip, and regular manicure...2 hours later, we finally left. In my opinion, it should never take THAT LONG for a couple of girls to get their nails done. And hey, if it took a long time for a quality job, I wouldn't be upset. But the picture below is what my sister's nails (gel) came out looking like. The color was thin, the nail lengths were uneven (after a nail was cut when she told the woman not to do so) and the cuticles were a mess. On top of this, the place was freezing cold after we asked repeatedly to turn the heat up. Just a simple gesture that would have made our 2+ hour experience a little more enjoyable. But when we told them we were unsatisfied, they looked at us like deer in the headlights. Of course, the owner offered to fix it, but we'd been there for 2 hours. I went to Mennie nails&spa 3 times, first time I went I asked for almond shape, my nails were square, they charged me $5 dollar extra which was fine since I liked the shape and color. Second time I went the guy didn't keep the almond shape, he made my nails more round and when I told him I want them more almond he didn't know how to do so I made sure next time I go I will ask for the girl who did my nails the first time. I was surprised because they charged me extra $5 dollars and as you can see in the picture they didn't really change the shape, I told them that they said we cut them short and that's why we charged $5, As you can see from the pictures they didn't really change the shape or anything, even though that should be part of the $35 for powder manicure, I didn't like their attitude and honestly I'm not going to go again. My regular nail salon closed and I have been on the hunt for a replacement. I tried out Mennie Nails because of all of the great reviews. I was able to easily make an appointment for a gel manicure and a regular pedicure. When I came in they had me pick a color right away. Unfortunately they don't have as many OPI colors as I am used to and they didn't have the color I was looking for. However, I made a quick decision and one of the women was able to help me find a matching color for my nails. The pedicure was just alright. It felt a little rushed and my toes looked a little dry when she was done. The big redeemer for me was the gel manicure. I had a different woman work on my finger nails and she was awesome. Very attentive to detail and was very exact in her ways. My nails look great and I have gotten many compliments. I will definitely be back for a gel manicure, but will probably skip on the pedicure! read more

I went in about 1 week after they opened. I had Kevin. I got a spa pedicure and a regular manicure. The spa pedicure was fantastic. He really took his time and it took a good hour. He explained what he was doing before each thing (ie - this is going to be a cold scrub, the towel will be hot) so I knew what to expect along the way. The massage was AMAZING. My feet and legs still feel great 3 days later! I am a nail biter and looking to get out of the habit. He helped clean up my nails and cuticles and gave me some tips on different things I could do to help stop as well as how to bring back some moisture to my hands. The massage while I was letting my nails dry was at least 5 minutes and wonderful. After I was done, I got an eyebrow wax and my brows look fantastic now. Started working in the area and needed to find a nail place. This was the first place I tried after reading reviews. I had to wait a couple minutes past my appointment time. Once i was taken the service was good. They are very clean which I love for a pedicure. the tubs are lined with clear wrap and they have tools individually wrapped. The basic pedicure is $20 but I opted for one step up which was the spa pedicure for $32 because I wanted the 10 extra minutes of rubbing and that's honestly the starter prices for pedicures near me so I didn't think it was steep. Overall a good experience for the convenience and very reasonably priced. read more

Pleasantly surprised at how amazing this place turned out to be. I do not live in the area, however by recommendation I was told to try this salon. I'm quite happy I did. Not good! The girl was a bit rough on the pedicure, but I figured it was the start of sandal season so maybe I was due. We move on to my nails. The drill was too fast/she was not moving fast enough so while trying to take my powder off she kept burning me. At this point she assures me she will be gentle and now I have no nails so there is not much I can do. The dip went super slow, and I assumed she was trying to be thorough. The woman next to me sat down 10 minutes before me and left 20 minutes before me for the same powder nails. When it comes time to do the final sand down she keeps hitting my skin. I keep telling her it hurts, to be gentle or to stop. Finally, I get out of there only to see (in the daylight) that my cuticles are red. After shopping, I ended up putting Purel on my hands and OMG my hands were on fire. Three days later I have scabs on 7 of my cuticles. This was a new salon for me, but I will never go back. If you are in to bleeding and S&M in a dark salon this is your spot. read more

Honestly I was shocked at how much they care about their clientele. It was my first time coming there and I was gonna receive a pedicure cause it's that time of the year!! So I booked it solely because of the reviews and as well as I was able to book right through the yelp app. The place is adorable, chic decor, beautiful details, comfortable seating, and they go the extra mile with you. The pedicure was amazing, I don't know his name but he did a great job. I hate going for pedicures because I work on my feet often and I know how bad my feet can be. I was slightly self conscious, but didn't want to show it. He made me feel so comfortable and he was so gentle!! I saw some negative reviews about the polish, it's bullshit. My polish came out immaculate, my callouses are gone, my toes look adorable, and my feet are the softest they've been. 28 dollars for a pedicure, in a quiet and serene place, and I left with my feet feeling like a babies butt. He checked me out and gave me a membership card, I have no idea what it does, but I know it's going to be taken advantage of. I will be back and I told all my friends so we can do a girls day. I called and they had appointments available same day. when I arrived, immediately greeted by the owner. Beautiful place!! Super relaxing, super clean, it gives you the Spa vibe!! Loved it!! Simon did my pedicure . He's great! and Mennie did my beautiful nails! OMG!!! She's AWESOME!! My first experience: I have been looking for a nearby salon with nail techs who really care about their customers' nail health and look. Richard was very nice, very thorough, and convinced me to switch over to SNS because they were best for my nails. I'm so glad I found a place I can come back to regularly! Fair prices, free street parking, and beautiful nails can't wait to see what they do next Update: Several months later. As much as I wanted this to be my go-to nail salon, I won't be going back. I am a picky client, I know. But I am paying for a long term look and I always tip very generously. After months of transitioning to acrylic and doing my nails on my own, I came back to get a refill for my birthday. Not only did he not do the acrylic design I showed in the picture, when he could've used gel to accomplish the same look, he did something else entirely. Not to mention, when he took off product to do the refill, he neglected to to add the arch for structural support. When he changed the shape, the coffin shape was uneven on nearly every nail. It was just as though he didn't really care that he was charging me $50 as if I got a new set and he was giving me a low quality result. Low and behold, I wake up the next morning with half of my nail broken and somewhere in the bed. I know nails break, but if you build them correctly they last more than 12 hours- possibly even the several weeks they're supposed to. So by the end of my birthday weekend, 2 more break and a 4th is cracking. I called to see if they had time to fix my broken nails AND add acrylic to the others. So I get there when they tell me and Richard proceeds to work on only the already broken ones. He didn't have time to fix all of them it's not like I called ahead of time to make sure they could do what I needed. Long story short he and Mennie (so sweet I adore you - but the reason you gave me is bs) said the shape and length are prone to cracking and since it's a refill adding acrylic to a previously done nail leads to it cracking off. "WHAT?" That's crap, if you buff the acrylic and add new, it looks as if it's a newly built nail. I HAVE BEEN DOING MY NAILS FOR MONTHS. Even if that were the case, sell me a new set! And then they charge me $12 dollars for that. So I leave without tipping (not like me as a waitress) and the other nail that was going, cracked off. So I go back to show them what happens when you don't build a nail correctly. Both Mennie and Richard seemed to think I was the crazy one for wanting my nails to last more than 3 days. I've done sets that last more than a month with some touch ups. Anyway I guess they don't want my business anymore, because they were not at all apologetic and made no effort to refund me for the first poorly done, overcharged refill. Shame because I love the facility, and I know Richard can do great work when he wants to. Oh well I guess. The darker pink nails show Richard's work and the lighter pink are after I went home to fix them. read more

This is a really great new place I tried a few weeks ago. I did a spa pedicure and powder gel manicure (SNS, I think it's also called). My manicure came out flawless. They were so detail-oriented! It was actually very refreshing to see that since so many other local nail places rush you and don't carefully look at each nail. This place took their time and were so nice the whole time, and both my nails and feet were perfect!! The reason for the five stars is because of how great they were with my young daughter who was with me. I've taken her with me to other places in the past and I always just assumed they don't really do the same service for the kids. Like an adult pedi at most places includes a leg massage and other perks but the kids version always seems rushed and less involved. Mennie's services for my daughter were above and beyond what I expected. They did a thorough job and included the (less) hot towel and leg massage. When my daughter accidentally smudged a nail, they were so understanding and kind about it. They even offered free flower designs on two of her nails because they thought it would look cute on her. I'm not one of those people that will pick at everything they do, I say thank you, leave and then cry in my car lol I got a regular pedi and a French mani. My pedi was ok. Super quick. Maybe 10 seconds of massage. And while cutting my cuticles she tugged at my skin quite a bit. Cuticle still on my nails though so i don't know what was going on. Decent polish. My French mani wasn't to my liking though. Took forever and it's all crooked. I'm very particular about lines etc. for the time it took it should have been better.
