My husband went in with a very clear vision, and wanted to get his feet wet at Men's Wearhouse, but they did not deliver. I will say Devon was the absolute best person to work with and did an amazing job, but the limited resources at MW is insane in a bad way. Online they "highly" suggested that if the bridal party is wearing ballet pink, the groomsmen wear gray. Well, we definitely didn't want gray, so we asked to see navy, and Devon did an excellent job seeing our vision through and even agreed it looked far better than gray. However, the main reason for 2 stars is because this place is TINY. My fiancé wasn't satisfied just seeing pictures, and was insistent on trying it on (much the same way I would never buy a wedding dress while just looking at pictures!). This place has "basics," but obviously nothing more. No slim cut pants. Nothing but basic white shirts with no differing collars. Just standard, run-of-the-mill, single option things. We just left wanting more. Way more. Am I thankful for Devon? YES! He was amazing and deserves a million praises for seeing our vision through. However, in terms of leaving satisfied with a complete look, you won't find that here. Also, after looking at wedding pictures of people who used MW, it really confirmed we made the right choice. The bf needed a new suit, so we came here to take a look around. I was pretty skeptical at first because of how small this location is. It seems that most of their business here comes from renting out tuxes for weddings and such, because their suit selection is very small (I think there were fewer than 10 options total). However, Rebecca was very helpful. She got him all measured up and was very knowledgeable about the available selection, small though it was. After we'd figured out the right sizes for everything, she let us know about an upcoming buy one get one free deal for suits, and offered to put the suits we'd found on hold for a week so we could come back and get the deal. They can also do tailoring on site. All in all, I wouldn't recommend shopping for a suit at this location if you're much shorter/taller/skinnier/fatter/etc than the average man, because they don't have a very wide variety of of sizes to try on, or if you're very picky about your suit style. But if you're about average sized and just looking for a decent suit, this location provides a very nice shopping experience. read more

I recently participated in a lovely Fall wedding where I was asked to be the usher. It's honestly the best position in the wedding party. You're there for half the amount of pictures, still get to look sexy and stand out, yet you're not bossed around all night to do chores and favors. The wedding party ordered their tuxes from Men's Warehouse. The process was pretty simple since I had ordered a suit from Monitor Formal Wear two weeks prior for my own wedding. I called up Men's Warehouse main line, provided all my sizes, placed a deposit over the phone with my credit card and voila! I received an email when my suit was ready to be tried on and picked up. The representative over the phone was very friendly and mentioned this Roscoe Village location which I had no idea existed (near the McDonald's and Jewel Osco on Ashland). I was happy because I didn't have to drive all the way south to the MW Clybourn location I knew of. When I arrived, there were two female workers who were very friendly but extremely overwhelmed. Every one of the men's suits that were tried on didn't fit correctly and required special orders or immediate hemming. Each of the gentlemen needed their tuxes ready for the weekend, it was Wednesday. What could have taken 30 minutes required an hour. Their stock of suits, dress shoes and other accessories appeared to be limited and needed to be ordered from a larger store. While I did call to make sure everything was in on Friday before stopping in, I would have appreciated a courtesy call. All in all, it worked out but could have been a bit more smooth of a process. The tuxes fit decently, but not nearly as perfect as my suit fit two weeks prior. I highly recommend Monitor Formal Wear in Uptown instead which is family-owned (not a national chain), more friendly, and guaranteed to fit you like a charm. The worker on store said he size has not changed. I thought it was crazy. But the guy was "a professional," so we believed him. Wedding day.: - We had a destination wedding. Therefore, he picked up his suit a couple days before our trip and we went on. - When I walk down the isle I see him and he seems to be swimming in his outfit. It was INSANELY BIG! During the photo shoot he showed me he had to use a safety pin to keep his pants on (You cant wear belts with their pants) I got our wedding pictures and I am so disappointed. YES, My husband messed up as well. He should have tried his out fit in the store and notice that did not fit him. But you know the pressure before the wedding. PS. I went here for a tuxedo rental with a couple of my groomsmen for my wedding. I set up an appointment beforehand online. We were fitted and assisted by Rebecca who was personable and professional. My friends and I are pretty laid back so it was nice to have someone who wasn't so uptight. Rebecca was very knowledgeable of all the different styles and she helped us put together a nice look. Everything went smoothly and Rebecca went over all the details one last time at the end. We plan on coming back for our fitting before the wedding and she offered an open door policy for service and any other questions we had. Great service made this a fun time! read more

I came to this location a few days before I got fitted with some questions and the guy was very knowledgeable and friendly. When I came back a few days later I got stuck with this horrible woman. I came to get fitted for a wedding and she had legit no personality, tons of attitude, made me feel like I was annoying her and being rushed out the door. Next she couldn't find my wedding party's information in the system, because she kept entering the full name when they only needed the groom's last name and the bride's last name. So she immediately was all "suspect" of why I was there, like I want to come get fitted on a weekend and spend $40 to get it started for no reason at all or something--give me a break. Then she did my measurements and they were not accurate--at all. I'm 5'5 115 lbs, I wear a 29 waist/30 length and she had me in pants a size 32 waist/36 length.... um... no, I don't think so hunny. I told her they were too big and I needed more of a slim fit and she got an attitude and said "it would be too small" and just took the shirt/jacket/pants down by one size. Luckily there are other locations to get fitted at because I am NEVER going back to this location again. If I could give negative 5 stars I would, no idea how this location has a 4 star rating. read more

Overall I'd say we had an okay experience with Men's Wearhouse. We did not shop around and knew them to be a large chain, as we had groomsmen living in other states. When we arrived for our appointment we were surprised at how small this location was! We had never been in it. We asked to try on a gray suit and a white suit jacket with black pants. They immediately told my fiance they didn't recommend the white/black look and we didn't really care at the time but after I decided we should have tried it on. I didn't like that we weren't able to (maybe they didn't have any in stock at that location). The appointment went well after that and they were patient as we tried on a bunch of vest/tie/bow tie combinations. At that point I thought we were happy and we confirmed we would pick up the suit 2 days before the wedding. I wish we could have sooner but they said 10 AM 2 days before. Months later, it is 2 days before the wedding and this location did not have the suit ready at 10 AM and we were due to leave for the suburbs. All my fiance's groomsmen and our dads already were able to pick up their suits from other MW locations earlier that week so it was scary to not have the groom's suit 2 days out when they said it would be in. My fiance had to stay in the city to wait for his suit to come in that evening. Nothing like wedding weekend stress! In the end, the suits looked great, we were happy with the look, and they were easy to return. read more

HOW in the world does this place have 4 stars......? ....But seriously. I wish I could give negative stars because they don't even deserve one star. My fiancé needed a tux for next Friday for a black-tie gala and he had never rented a tux. He and I walked into the store with an open mind, despite negative reviews we had heard about Men's Wearhouse. First impression, I thought the space was pretty drab and cramped. But I never judge a book by its cover so I kept an open mind. My fiancé let the ladies know behind the desk that he needed a tuxedo. They asked what date and he said next Friday and they immediately said there'd be a $20 rush free. They then provided him paperwork to fill out and then we stood by the desk so we could give it back to the employees. We stood there for about 2-3 minutes until someone actually acknowledged us and said "it'd be a few minutes." They then took took my fiancé's paperwork and started asking him questions on the style of tuxedo and accessories. They seemed rushed and annoyed. He didn't know the answer to some of the questions because they weren't even providing samples or examples to the questions they were asking. When my fiancé said he wasn't sure about a few things and asked their opinion, they stared blankly at us like we were stupid. I finally asked, "do you have any examples that we can look at?" They shoved a binder at me and said "here, take this." Once my fiancé was done answering their questions, they ordered him and said "take off your sweater." They started taking measurements in a rushed manner and yelled at him when he moved his arms. HE'S NEVER RENTED A TUX, PEOPLE. Then they shooed him into a dressing room with pants and a shirt. My fiancé came out and the shirt looked WAY too big on him. I mentioned that and they said "that's the way rentals are." I asked if he could try on a smaller shirt and they said "it won't fit him." I urged them to provide him a smaller shirt. My fiancé tried it on and low and behold, it fit better!! After my fiancé was done trying on things (none of which were in his size because they have limited samples), they then gave us the price of $215 (inclusive of the $20 rush fee). Funny enough, I had gone outside to call Black Tie Formalwear to inquire how much a tuxedo would cost and they gave me a range of $140-$180. I told the ladies we would not be paying $215. They then said they'd drop the $20 rush fee but it still brought it to over $190. We decided to walk out and go to Black Tie Formalware where we had a MUCH better service experience, more options to see/try on, and the rental was only $150. I have never felt more uncomfortable or mistreated at an establishment. The staff was the rudest I've ever come across and not to mention, one of the ladies was yelling at her employee because she was "standing around." Anyone reading this who is debating to go to Men's Wearhouse - DON'T. Just go straight to Black Tie Formalware and they will take care of you! read more

Hidden away in the Ashland Wellington Plaza, also known as That Mall on Ashland with the Office Depot and the Jewel, is this tiny tuxedo rental shop. I rented my tux for the Yelp Prom here, and was pleased with the experience. I am not an easy man to fit for a rental -- my waist is substantially larger than my inseam -- but the women here did a nice job. Their advertising says they offer 2,000 color, pattern, and style combinations, but that includes a lot of trading out ties, vests, and cummerbunds. But they do have a good selection of basic styles, and the service is first rate. On my first visit, they showed me some styles, talked about colors, measured me and had me try on some shirts, pants, and jackets, all within half an hour. When I returned for my fitting, they helped me figure out how to adjust all the straps on the vest, and re-hemmed the sleeves of my jacket, which were too long, while I waited. (About that vest. Rented tuxes would work well for the dead, since they're little more than facades. The vest was like a bib with buttons, and the tie -- a standard necktie -- was a modified clip-on.) The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful, and willing to answer all your stupid questions. Which, if you're like me, you'll have a lot of. This store used to be an After Hours Formalwear, but in 2006, that company was sold to Men's Wearhouse. I liked the way I looked. read more

Tiny cramped store and only a handful of low quality, ill-fitting tuxes to choose from. We were pressured into making a down payment immediately and assured we could get a refund if we cancel. We found a better company and tried to get our deposit back the same day. The woman who answered the phone took our phone number and said she'd call back in 10 minutes. When she called back my fiancé gave her the group number and the reason for our cancellation. She said they would price match--which he was not interested in--and then hung up on him. Alright, so we went to the Mens Warehouse location on Clybourn on a Sunday 2.5 hours before the store closed in an attempt to pick out my fiance's wedding tux and the tuxes for the groomsmen. We walked in and it was fairly empty, one other couple working with an associate. Firstly, they looked at us like we were crazy when we said we didn't have an appointment. Whoa, Ok we didn't know we needed an appointment. Then, we realized that even if we had an appointment, he was not allowed to try on any of the tuxes! They dress up a mannequin like a Ken doll and expect you to sign off on a look that you have no idea how it will look on your body. Then, the girl that we were talking with said they could not take us (just as her girlfriend or something walked in) because they were booked and closing soon and plus she was off the clock. She did call around and find another store that could take us but her store was still very empty. So, we went to their MW TUX store on Ashland. Although it is no where near as fancy as the store on Clybourn (small, compact, slightly old) we had a completely different experience. Very very nice staff (Melinda was great), he could try on any look or combination we wished and it was quick and easy. I have no idea why these experiences were so different. At one point a few months before this he was at the Crystal Lake location and was grossed out by the super hard sell attitude he received up there. For sure recommend this Ashland location over other locations. These girls that work there are great and you will like the way you look. And so will your finance ;) read more

Go somewhere else if you can. We used Men's Wearhouse for our formalwear and honestly probably would not have chosen it, but we had a lot of out-of-state groomsmen requiring a nationwide tux rental place. We weren't impressed with anything here. First of all, their selection of suits/vests leaves something to be desired. For our color scheme (which should have been easy to match - sage green, purple and ivory) there were very few nice looking options. Honestly a lot of the vests just looked so cheap and shiny, we had to say "no" to them right off the bat. Second, not all the vests had matching pocket squares - what?? Seriously? We had to pick non-matching pocket squares which is, for a tuxedo rental place, very odd...considering we were spending well over $100 per tux. Then one of the groomsmen was overcharged about $40 for his tuxedo and we had to straighten that out; turned out the salesman failed to tell him about the "special deal" that would have given him the proper "discounted" rate. Out of all our wedding vendors we were very disappointed in this one. read more

I know nothing about tuxedos or suits, but fortunately, Rebecca did. This woman did things with her work computer that I didn't know someone could do. Tried to get a swatch for a custom suits we made at the store and were unable to even obtain a small amount of fabric to get a similar colored suit from another store. Will not be returning here again. Who doesn't provide color swatches. Very unhelpful. Time spent with incompetent people who wasted my time. Poor customer service. A friend and I came here to pick up a tux for a wedding that he was in, but unfortunately when we arrived the tux had not come in yet and we were informed that the tux would be available the following morning. This was a bit frustrating for us because we're from out of town and we had taken a $40 über ride to get there. Fortunately, Yamica was there and worked tirelessly to ameliorate the situation with his rental. Her compassion, patience, and understanding when it came to this matter helped to make a challenging scenario much better. If I lived in Chicago, I'd certainly come back here for all of my formalwear needs! read more

This store can't be beat for good deals, knowledgeable service, and basis selection. Although it doesn't look like they have a wide selection, for a young man it's quite enough - suits, shirts, vest, ties, ..he is a basic size and was able to walk out with 2 well fitting suits, 2 shirts, 2 ties, and two vests for about $450. My son rented a tux for Prom a few years ago, and now back for a decent suit for college - for both social and those times where a suit may be required. Melinda (who's been there for years) steered him to a great deal on two suits (about 4 times a year they have buy one get one free) She really helped a kid with not much fashion sense pick out something more modern, flattering, and well made. She suggested a lower price suit because it was all wool, a better buy. She knows her merchandise, what looks good together and on, and was great is getting a shirt from a different store. I would highly recommend her if you have a kid who needs a suit for school or event. read more

I had a groomsman make the decision to join the wedding party the day before the wedding. For a wedding in Los Angeles..... He hadn't even bought his flight from Chicago yet.... Christina went above and beyond in helping me get him into the store and measured up before the last possible minute on a Friday. He landed at LAX Saturday morning and we were able to pick up the tux on the way to the wedding. The service here was so astoundingly bad that I created an account because I don't want others having to go through this. I went in this location to get fitted for a wedding and figured this would be a quick process. Here's what happened: -Completely ignored when I walked in for the first 2-3 minutes (Store was empty) -Girl at registers boyfriend was walking in and out of the back and talking with girl while ignoring customers -Stopped assisting me and began helping other customers for extended periods of time -Had me try on a shirt and pants and tell me it actually wasn't necessary right after stepping out of the fitting room. -Would get frustrated with the computer and would start loudly yelling. -Girl accidentally froze my reservation so that I had to call back several times after I left to make sure my measurements were put into their system. I was guaranteed a call back and, of course, never got one -Never once said thank you or apologized for the inconvenience. I feel like you have to try to be this bad. Worst customer service I've ever had by far and the manager did nothing (which might be worse). Unbelievable. read more

My husband needed a tux for a wedding Memorial Day weekend. I found this place on Yelp and liked the review so we tried it and were very happy. The service was really great, the tux came in early and they did alterations on site when we picked it up. The only negative is that the tux shirt was pretty cheap. We needed one that could have studs and cuff links and the one one we got could have studs and cuff links but also had buttons on the placket and cuffs (a sign of a cheap shirt). It was also 100% polyester instead of cotton. That makes sense, though, for a rental place since cotton will stain more easily and is harder to launder. In any event, we were really pleased with our experience. It was a little more expensive than some other places but his tux didn't look like a rental (even though the shirt did) and that is hard to find. read more

My boyfriend, Dan, referred this location to my sister and her fiance back and July, so they went in without an appointment and dealt with Jose at first (who is the Manager now), but the total customer experience Dan and I had explained, was not at all what they received, so they did not book. I recently talked to my sister and asked her if she took care of the tuxes and how everything went and her respond shocked me. She said the guy had an attitude as if he didn't want to be there and was yawning and rushing them through the whole process. I told my boyfriend about it and we called to see if Rebecca still worked there and was please that she did. Me and Dan convinced my sister and her fiance to give it another shot and to call and schedule an appointment with Rebecca, so they did since they haven't gotten their tuxes yet. After their appointment, my sister called me and was so please with the service. Dan rated Rebecca on Twitter and we have referred over a handful of people to her and will continue to do so. She has worked in the formal wear business for a long time and her character and attitude alone shows how compassionate she is about her job. She is very knowledgeable and is now the Assistant Manager at this store. My reason for this review is to show how 1 person can turn a bad experience into a great one. As my sister's Maid of Honor, me and Dan want to thank Rebecca for another wonderful wedding experience and look forward to one day working with her for our own wedding and strongly encourage people to set an appointment with her for a wonderful wedding booking experience. read more

He offered great suggestions, answered all of our questions, and wasn't at all pushy. I went to the Men's Warehouse on Ashland in Chicago and experienced the least professional staff I have ever encountered in a retail setting. There were two employees (a male and a female), but only the female was working. There were several customers ahead of me and neither employee paid them or myself any attention for quite a while. They didn't even acknowledge our presence. The female employee appeared to have great difficulty entering information into the computer. After about 5 minutes, the male employee finally asked one of the guys ahead of me if he could help him. The guy replied that he needed to be fitted for a tux. The male employee nodded and then went into a backroom for what seemed like another 5 minutes! The male employee finally came back with a form for the guy to fill out. While the guy filled the form that took about 10 seconds, the male employee moved onto another customer and just left the guy holding the clipboard and completed form just standing there. The guy waited for at least another 5 minutes without either employee talking to him or taking the completed form. Finally, the guy ahead of me just crumpled up the paper and left. I decided to do the same. That level of service was truly outrageous. I will never go back. read more

We recently used this location for the suits for our wedding. We needed the groom's suit, along with several others for the groomsmen. Our initial experience was terrible as the person helping us did not know a single answer to the questions we had, nor could he recommend the styles we should try to get a more fitted type of suit. We decided to go back another time and work with someone else. This time, we got the store manager, who was very good. She was able to help us determine the correct fits for each person and the available color combinations. However, the order was placed incorrectly, with half of the groomsmen getting the wrong colors and the groom not getting a tie. We had to go back in again to make sure this was changed. My husband ended up buying his own suit for the wedding as he was nervous that it would be incorrect again. Everything ended up being alright in the end, but we are giving it two stars because of how many times we had to go back in, the order being incorrect (good thing we confirmed it!) and the initial terrible experience. They also have very outdated technology, so we couldn't pull up anything on their computers to check styles or availability, so they told us to do it at home. read more
