When you think of staying in a small town you picture a dumpy hotel with no AC that you are dying…read moreto leave. Once you walk into the Gold Eagle you'll realize that this is completely different. The lobby is the first thing you see and it's incredible for what you would expect. The finishes are great and the staff are always around and friendly. It reminds me of something you'd see in a mountain getaway like Banff or Jasper where there is attention to detail and it is obvious that people maintain the property. The rooms themselves are very nice; we booked a basic king-bed room which was rather large as it came with a sitting area (couch, chair) and a work desk. In addition there was a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The bathroom was clean and modern and stocked with all the regular amenities. Air conditioning worked great however it was a bit noisy. The TVs were also older (CRT-style TVs). There is a casino next door but the hotel itself is not physically connected to the neighbouring casino which really limits the amount of noise you hear. I could not recall hearing any noise from the highway in front of the hotel either. Free WiFi and continental breakfast were provider. The continental breakfast was delicious, it has fresh-baked muffins, waffles, bagels, toast, etc. and was actively staffed so that tables were cleaned and items refilled. Other reviewers mentioned fresh fruit but during our visit the only fresh fruit they had were apples and some sort of fruit mixture in a bowl that had a bunch of syrup-like liquid in the bottom so it didn't seem overly appealing. We did not have a chance to try out the pool/hot tub area as it closed at 11:00pm, however it looked very bright and inviting with 3 hot tub areas. The location is the same as any other; North Battleford is not a large place so driving wise it is not far to anything. Within short walking distance is the casino and a little further ahead (5-10 minute walk) is a mall complex, Tim Hortons, No Frills, Boston Pizza, etc. Overall a great place to stay and I would highly recommend it. While I haven't stay at other hotels in North Battleford this hotel is leaps and bounds above what I have experienced in other cities from hotel chain that operate in the area.

For me the downer was the staff during the check in. The staff were extremely apathetic. I felt like my being there was somehow inconveniencing them. It put a pretty big damper on my mood and made me feel like I'd just entered a shady hotel. In fairness the whole town is pretty shady so I guess the hotel kind of fits in. I gave the place two stars instead of one because I have stayed in worse, but I've stayed in much better too. I spent most of the night wishing I'd booked into the Tropical Inn located across the highway.

Complete rip off! I wanted to send my Mother flowers on her Birthday. The photo on their website…read morehad at least 8 roses and the bouquet I paid $100 for had 3 roses, a completely different vase, I don't think it had 10 flowers total including filler flowers. I emailed them a photo and they said it's a $100 bouquet and the problem is the angle of the photo. I told them I would post the photo on social to get other opinions and they said if I did that they wouldn't do anything about it so clearly they are not proud of their work... This isn't the first time I've been very disappointed with their service so boot to me for giving them another chance. They can keep my money and I will complain on line. It's their loss, I spend lots of money sending flowers to my loved ones. I guess it's chocolate and jewelry from now on as there isn't another florist in North Battleford.
