As I pulled into the parking lot my phone rang and it was Laura Hoover's office calling to let me know they would no longer be taking my appointment since i was 15 minutes late. She asked if I would like to reschedule for 3:30pm later this afternoon. I explained that my appointment was for 9:30 and I was in the parking lot about to walk through the door. The assistant then told me I had the appointment wrong, it was for 9:15 and they would no longer be able to see me since I was late. Now I can't tell you how many times I have sat in their waiting room, or been taken back to a room and waited to see the dentist, but today I was too much of an inconvenience for them to take. Their time is obviously more valuable than mine. I am obviously not a valued customer and can't be a burden to their office help. I refuse to be treated this way and WILL NOT BE BACK!

Yelp Review Hoover…read more Based on the previous review, I expect there is more to that story, as our experience with Dr. Hoover and her staff has been consistent and excellent. They have been more than accommodating when we have had circumstances. After many many years with bridge work that was showing wear, I finally found a dentist I trusted to replace it and, in 2005, Dr. Hoover did an outstanding job of matching what I had back in the day, and it is still perfect today. We're talking 6 teeth, up front and center. As time went on, my wife needed caps on four upper front teeth. I copied an old college photo, in which she was smiling, blew up just the mouth area, and Dr. Hoover sent that to the lab with other specific instructions. WoW were they perfect in shape, size, and color. So we think Dr. Hoover is a star among dentists. The above is just a small part of the excellent experience we have had with Dr. Hoover and her staff over the years, so my wife and I recommend Dr. Hoover at every opportunity.

Dr. Stanford is always on the cutting edge of the science of new equipment. They have massage chairs and you get to choose your music genre. They have also just added a state-of-the art teeth whitening system, which I experienced yesterday. It was painless and easy, only 25 minutes at a great price. My teeth whitened at least 2 shades, and they send home a whitening pen.

The technology is good and there are TVs set up at each chair where a nature documentary plays and you can choose your own Pandora station to listen to in the background. More importantly though, the staff knows what they're doing. My regular dental hygienist is an absolute angel; she lets me know what I'm doing wrong (grinding, not enough flossing, etc etc) without scolding and is so nice that I feel really comfortable conversing even with things totally unrelated to my teeth. Dr. Stanford himself is also very nice and knowledgable. I never feel like they are suggesting procedures that are unnecessary or expensive. Nobody likes going to the dentist, but Stanford makes it much more bearable.

Typically, I enjoy going to the dentist, but I've also never really needed anything but check-ups and cleanings so I suppose I've had it easy. I got a Groupon for a cheap cleaning, exam, and x-rays at another office so I went for it. I feel like I take good care of my teeth and haven't had any problems, so I figured $79 was good enough for me. Big mistake! According to the dentist in the 2 minutes he spent with me, I had a tooth with a big cavity (GASP!) and it needed a root canal and crown. I've never had a cavity and now I need a root canal? I asked if that was the only option and he said "absolutely." Then he said to schedule it with the front desk and walked out. I'm not going to spend too much time writing a review about another office, but basically, I felt like I was just a number. And they wouldn't even clean my teeth that day! I figured I needed to find an office that was a more comfortable fit so I put off the treatment and started looking around again. Fortunately, I work with someone who has been going to Dr. Jim Atchison for a long time and loves it. She told me that he's conservative with treatment, is pretty much pain-free, and does great work. It was pretty close to our home, so I called and booked an appointment. I'm SOOOO glad I did! The office is super nice, has relaxing jazz music, and you have the option of watching TV while in the dental chair. Angie was my hygienist and she was a lot of fun to talk to (and of course did a really good cleaning). I briefly met Dr. Jim before my cleaning (he's really nice), but his son Dr. Craig did my exam. I told about my experience with the other office and he asked if the tooth with the cavity had been bothering me (it hadn't). When he looked at the x-rays he agreed that the tooth had a large cavity but preferred to take a conservative approach and see how things went with just a filling first. He did a great job of explaining things to me and wasn't in a rush to get on to the next patient. I was so relieved! Since this was my first filling, I was a little nervous, but Dr. Craig's shot to numb the tooth was completely painless and the rest of the procedure was a breeze. The best part is, the tooth has given me no problems since! If it eventually needs that root canal, I'll understand, but I'm REALLY glad that Dr. Craig started with the conservative option, not just the expensive one. I like the friendly, family atmosphere at the office and have already booked appointments for my husband and daughter. I usually wouldn't write such a long review, but my teeth are important to me and I really appreciated the excellent care I received at this office. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
