Every year for 3 days this market is put up in the old city where different craftsmen display their produce. From herbal soaps to 21 different types of spanish empanadillaa, tea varities and spices from morocco, potters making the famous andalucian pottery on spot are few to say. It is organised by Institución Ferial de Cádiz (Ifeca) every year for 3 days in August to promote local craftsmen business. One can find all the typical spanish food delicacies served here at a reasonable price. This year it was held on 17,18,19 August 2012 in the neighbourhood of El Pópulo. However, I did spy some local old men trying to enjoy their lunch, as well and they were all drinking a beer and eatin' paella. One side is the tavern, with outside seating and the other side is to go fried fish in a paper cone. The to-go side was PACKED, so we snagged a spot at the bar on the other side and quickly ordered up 4 beers, a tapa size of the paella and a fried fish platter for 2. The paella was delicious and the fried fish platter was huge, with chunks of fried fish, whole fish, calamares, cod croquettes and more. I'm not the most adventurous fish eater, and I went for it. Not fancy at all, but just super fresh seafood, breaded and deep fried. Not a ton of flavor in the breading, but all good. All that food for about $20 USD. Not too shabby.

But if you aren't bothered by dairy this shop probably has another 40 flavors available and a variety of cones. For just 1.90 Euro I walked away with a chocolate and vanilla mixed cone. The non-dairy icecream was creamy and flavorful. I wish there were more vegan options but this part of Spain here in Cadiz/Rota don't seem to be very vegan friendly so I was really excited to see options at this shop!

They also sell honey, marmalades and they all looked good, but we didn;t try them! Now come to the cafe/restaurant: The food there is standard Spanish. Not as exceptional as the desserts shops. For some reasons there is a sort of bad/commercial vibes, for instance the servers always looks really tired and angry and forced to work extra hours.
