My first time and it was lovely! We sat outside on a Sunday evening for dinner with a party of 6. Gianni was our server and he was very kind, helpful, patient and accommodating. The chicken enchiladas were delicious, light and the green sauce was YUM!!! The guacamole was amazing. The queso was really good, very tasty. They told us they didn't have any churros BUT they did have churro ice cream so it happened to be around the time of preparing them so they served us churros anyways!!! Gianni was soooo nice. Bathroom was clean and large. Parking is a lot... around the streets or in the parking lot in the back.

Food is really well made. I was in a rush and ordered the tacos de pescado and had some guac & chips. The tacos were so flavorful, a generous amount fish with the sauce & slaw having just the right amount of crunch and creaminess. Flour tortilla is also quite thin making it quite a light but satisfying meal. Other restaurants often smother the fish in heavy sauce but Mercado strikes the balance just right. Their chips & guac were amazing! Both were freshly made (chips were still warm). Price is reasonable for the quality you get.

Stopped at this beautiful spot from a recommendation. Theres street parking. I had the grapefruit margarita which was good, very refreshing... as you can see in the picture I devoured the tropical ceviche before taking the picture. I highly recommend it. Fish tacos were light and had the right amount of crisp. The shrimp were in a delicious buttery sauce. I wasn't the biggest fan of the rice. It came with a what I describes the succotash vegetable melody.. The bread that came with it was divine. I think it was a focaccia crispy on the top lighting area on the inside with maybe a garlic butter finish. Service was fast and efficient. I don't come out to Pasadena often but I hear there's another location closer to my home.. I'll have to check that one out too.

Always a Five Star experience here. You have to love how they consistently offer creative specials. Of course the food is always fresh and great tasting. Today our server suggested a beef rib special (bar b cued). Wow. So amazing a tasty. I do hope that this becomes a staple! To me Mercado is such a Pasadena treasure and a fantastic place to get " upscale " Mexican dishes and smooth cocktails.

My friend and I came here to have dinner. We got the guac, tacos, and carnitas plate. The guac was great and the chips were freshly made! However, the carnitas were overly salty luckily the cauliflower , salsa, and guac helped lessen the salty taste. The food overall was ok.

This was our 2nd time here, and would come back again and again. The Chef was greeting tables and the staff was constantly checking in. The food was delicious

I was in Pasadena for an event and was looking for something to eat close to my hotel and I stumbled upon this restaurant. We sat at the bar, the restaurant wasn't busy at the time we went in. So it was nice and quiet and we had good service. The bar is small and cute, they do have seating outside and inside. It's not a super big place. I liked how attentive the bartender was. The food was delicious, my mom cleaned her whole plate and said it was the best chile relleno she's ever had. I enjoyed my enchiladas and my margaritas. It is a more high end place with some traditional Mexican cuisine and style. I loved the flavors, I loved how they press fresh fruits to make their cocktails. The bartender did say they have happy hour Friday evening if we wanted to come back. I would've loved to, maybe next time we come into town we'll stop in. Thank you for having great food, and service.

This place has good food and great drinks. We've been here before as we waited for our sugar fish table and their bar service was great. This time we decided to eat a full meal here, and we were pleasantly surprised with their options. They offered a pre fix menu with chips and guac, tacos and dessert, so one of us ordered the filet mignon and the other ordered from their main menu a Chile relleno. The guac appetizer was very small and you can't customize it, the taco meat was tasty and well seasoned. The chile relleno sat in a bed of green salsa with corn an other vegetables which was different and it gave this dish a different taste. Will definitely come back and try other options from their main menu.

I loved Mercado! We had a group of 20 last minute for a lunch meeting, and they were not only able to accommodate, but also provided the best service! We had a fixed menu (because of our party size) that included appetizer, entree, and dessert. The guac, chips, and salsa was great, but the fish tacos I had were amazing!! A little spicy, a ton of flavor. We had flan and tres leche for dessert. Absolutely delicious and I look forward to trying more menu items on another trip.

Everytime I come we at least get the pulpo dish & mushroom choruses! Definitely my favorite menu items. On this occcasion we got the plater and added the pulpo and this can definitely feed at least 4 -5people. The menu states it's for 2-3 but honestly it can feed much more. Totally worth it!

We had an amazing dinner with our daughter. Melissa was our waitress and she was very nice and efficient and professional. Location is great and we love sitting outside in the patio. Food was absolutely delicious & fresh my had the filet mignon taco omg it melts in your mouth and I had swordfish tacos and my husband had shrimp tacos

Love their fish tacos and the best guacamole ever! Their ceviche verde is on point! Also best blackberry lime mojito mocktails around!

I ordered the enchiladas and elote. The enchiladas and corn were ok, not anything mind blowing. The flavors were a bit light and could've used a bit more seasoning. The corn was a bit overcooked as the kernels were a bit difficult to chew and weren't juicy. They are a bit overpriced and if you're looking to splurge on mediocre food, I would say this is the place to. Service on the other hand, was excellent. The servers were kind and attentive. The restaurant had a lounge/night bar vibe to it. There is indoor and outdoor seating. You can find paid street parking, park in a paid lot for $5, or if you drive a little further up you can find free street parking. I don't think I would come back here for overpriced Mexican food.

I'm a second-generation Irish-American from New York, and St. Patrick's Day has always meant something in my family. Growing up it was about heritage, family, and a little joy. Now that I have two daughters of my own -- very Irish-looking girls who are proud of their roots -- I wanted them to experience some of that same Irish pub spirit. So on St. Patrick's Day 2025, I took them to Griffin's of Kinsale in South Pasadena. They were so excited to be there -- the decorations, the music, the feeling of a real Irish pub. For a moment I thought, this is going to be a great memory for them. We came early because it was a school night. The restaurant was busy -- which is understandable on St. Patrick's Day. I ordered three salmon dinners for my daughters and myself. The bill came to about $150. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. Over an hour and a half. During that entire time: * No one warned us the kitchen was backed up when we ordered. * No one checked on our table. * No updates. * No communication at all. Had someone simply said "Just so you know, food may take an hour or more tonight," I could have made a different decision -- especially with two kids who had school the next morning. Instead we sat downstairs watching the clock while the evening disappeared. By the end of the night my daughters -- who had been so excited walking in -- were tired, hungry, and miserable. When I asked to speak with a manager, no one came. No explanation. No apology. Restaurants get slammed on holidays. Kitchens fall behind. That happens. But ignoring a table for 90 minutes -- especially a family with children -- isn't a busy night. It's bad management. What should have been a fun St. Patrick's Day memory for my daughters turned into a long, uncomfortable evening where we felt completely invisible. For a place that trades so heavily on Irish identity and hospitality, this was about as far from hospitality as you can get. Save your $150 and celebrate St. Patrick's Day somewhere that actually wants you there. And if management would like to explain how a family ends up waiting 90 minutes with no communication, I'd genuinely be interested to hear it.

As a I grew up in Highland Park I took my wife to visit The Arroyo Club bar to celebrate her recent promotion after the bar was recommended to us by a close friend. We were looking forward to a fun evening and decided to participate in the trivia game being hosted that night. After receiving an answer sheet from the host, Matt, my wife and I began playing. The trivia topic was based on an older television show that we were unfamiliar with, and we initially used our phones to look up answers. A male individual approached us and informed us that using our phones was considered cheating. We accepted that explanation, stopped using our phones, and continued playing. Later in the evening, I observed bartender Justin speaking with the same individual and appearing to provide him with answers. When I questioned how that was different from what we had been told not to do, Justin stated that it was not cheating because they were part of a group. I responded that it was only a game and not a serious issue, especially considering my wife and I had only accumulated a few points. At that point, the interaction became uncomfortable. Justin informed the host that my wife and I should be disqualified for cheating, despite the fact that we had stopped using our phones when instructed. The employee who had originally confronted us also became increasingly confrontational, which my wife and I found intimidating. I later asked another bartender, Zach, what the concern was, and he explained that the winning prize was $50. While I understand the importance of maintaining fair rules, the way the situation was handled felt unnecessarily hostile and embarrassing. What made the experience even more disappointing was that we appeared to be the only minority guests present at the time, and we observed other patrons using their phones without being confronted. This left us feeling singled out and unwelcome. My wife attempted to discuss how the situation made us feel with a female bartender who had blue hair. Unfortunately, her reaction appeared dismissive, and our concerns did not seem to be taken seriously. As we prepared to leave, the employee who had initially confronted us remained nearby staring in our direction, which further contributed to our discomfort. For reference, we were seated at the right corner of the bar if you were facing the bar from the front. I am not seeking compensation. Rather, I hope management will review the events of that evening, including any available security footage and discussions with staff members present. No guest should leave feeling targeted, embarrassed, or unwelcome while simply trying to enjoy a night out celebrating a special occasion.

Like mentioned, we got seated on the patio and the heat lamps were great. Down to the menus, it's quite limited on dishes. Seemed like there were more shared plates versus the entrees. Drinks, it was fairly decent with their cocktails and wine. Service at the beginning was great. The staff were amazing and very friendly. We didn't order right away as we were still waiting for the last one to show. But did start off with some drinks. It didn't take that long for the first round which was nice. Food wise, the shared plate was a mixture of everything. Some of the olives, which is exactly what it is. The Belgian fries, nice thick cut fries with shredded pecorino cheese and a nice aioli sauce. We ended up getting a second order of it. The albacore tuna crudo was a hit which was really tasty. Chili ginger relish, mint and shallot, can't go wrong with that. Lastly the meatballs, tasty and very great for sharing. Entrees, the pan seared sea bass which I loved. Portion is pretty tiny which also seemed like they were a shared plate. Almost tapas styled. Nice chimichurri sauce and a side salad. The chicken Milanese also with a side salad of arugula. Simple dish but quite tasty. One of the salads that was somewhat hyped up by the waitress but it was just a salad. Decent but nothing major to rave about...lol... also the confit oyster mushrooms was major hit. Something that simple but quite tasty. And lastly the pan con tomate, rustic sourdough with tomatoes and burrata. Tasty as well. Overall the meal was good. From there, the second round of drinks did take a long time to arrive and with then plates that we shared, trying to get someone to clear the plates was another thing. Took a long for someone to clear the table before more items came. Even when the entrees came, all the empty starter plates were still there. And if someone did clear the plates, some was still left on the table. Finishing off the night, we did have the dessert which we tried all three. As it was two of our girlfriends birthday, they brought out a little bubbly for us to celebrate with the dessert. That was quite sweet and nice. Honestly opinion with the dessert, they were just ok. Nothing major to rave about. We tried all three on the menu and they were just ok. Overall, the food was great. Service was nice and the staffs were all very friendly. It did take a while for plates to get cleared from the table and second round did take a while, but it was manageable. It was a sweet gesture with the bubbly with the dessert which was greatly appreciated. The place is nice and great for catching up. Menu is limited and portions are quite small. You would have to get a good amount for sharing. Entrees, depending on what you order is small as well. But we enjoyed ourself.

Come here for the drinks, vibes and brunch…read more Their breakfast options are better than their dinner service. I can't eat here for dinner as a vegetarian, they have little to no options. Would it kill them to add a veggie burger? Service is consistently awful. I've been here half a dozen times and I've never had good service. Drinks and water are never refilled unless I ask. It takes forever to get our order and once we do our server disappears. Seriously so bad. But I keep coming back for their good food.

The biscuits are perfection and will haunt your dreams. The crudo and burger also stood out. Was dining with some family who were visiting and dinner at Cannonball was their favorite meal of the trip. We were on the back patio for dinner, I enjoyed the metro trains passing, but it is probably not everyone's cup of tea. The ambience inside the restaurant when I got drinks at the bar was very nice. Service attentive and personable on both visits.

I was pleasantly surprised at the welcoming staff and warm ambiance. Going to slide one complaint in here, the noise level in the upstairs portion of the restaurant is LOUD. We sat upstairs and it was pretty difficult to hear my friends talk from just across the table. We powered through, and by the second half of our meal, most diners had finished and left us upstairs with only a couple of lingering parties. THEN this place became GREAT! Here's all that we stuffed ourselves with during the cacophony of chatter: flaky buttermilk biscuits, honey butter (3pc; please allow 20 minutes) - totally worth the 20 mins!! Super buttery and flaky, I might go back JUST FOR THIS! crispy calamari, horseradish cocktail sauce - great little kick in the sauce. Perfectly lightly battered. fideos, clams, chorizo, saffron, sweet sherry aïoli - mmmm, this was delicious. The Spanish chorizo enhanced the broth with a good saltiness. white shrimp from the griddle, aïoli - this was my favorite. The shrimp was not overcooked and peeled easily. The flavor was good enough to slurp the juices out. single burger, prime chuck, tillamook cheddar, dijonaise, egg brioche bun & crispy french fries - good meaty burger, love the dijonaise, GREAT shoestring fries. Parking is a little challenging during the day, not so bad in the evening. It's South Pas, a little neighborhood walk after dinner never hurts.
