The cinema itself is of the old school variety, with one small, intimate screen and a huge one with original theatre details: just add quiffs and poodle skirts. This is no mega-plex with OTT fluro lights, cavernous spaces and gold-class seats: the Odeon's 2 screens are comfy, chilled and cheap, with all tickets to all sessions $8 all year round. Movies are new releases and blockbusters, with lots of family friendly flicks - if ONLY they showed cult or art house or Godard midnight screenings... I would bump them up a star in a flash. The snack bar is well stocked with movie going favourites. Boysenberry choc tops! Buttery popcorn! It's reasonably priced too: $7 for medium drink and popcorn (which is huge!). In short: a local, family owned cinema with a heart of gold.

Having said that, the Cinema itself is our local and a favourite in that it doesn't get too crowded (unless it's a bumper day in the year like Boxing Day). The seats are always clean and the crowd is usually respectful of other patrons in the cinema. There is always a mix of ages in the crowds at Mitcham, not too youthful but not too senile either, and a few (like me!) in the middle. The service is always good; the bathrooms, I have always found to be clean and serviced, and the cinemas themselves are well-fitted with ample audio and good-sized screens. There is plenty of carparking in the outdoor carpark at the downstairs entrance and also underground, and access is easy too. There is a restaurant in the cinema, with a few different foods on offer, but I have only eaten in there once - we shared a plate of nachos and had a beer each. Not too bad, but I think Nachos are pretty hard to get wrong! Having had so many fond memories of watching movies here at Mitcham, I was going to give it 4 but I've decided it is deserving of 5 because I can't recall any time when I have been off-put by anything due to the cause of the cinema, and I know I'll be back plenty of times in the years ahead because it's always fun! Considering it didn't exist until the brand new shopping centre rose from the ashes of its past life, this Wallis chain has a welcoming tone for not only the local community but anyone who comes for a visit. The foyer has a massive circular rain drop chandelier and comfy lounges strategically placed, movie posters as you'd have guessed, wall mounted TVs previewing the latest movies on offer, a candy bar and popcorn machine - an absolute must for any movie theatre, electronic movie timetable board and more.There are seven cinemas within the complex which are tended to by the efficient staff before the next movie entry commences. The seats in the cinema are comfortable and no heads get in the way of your viewing pleasure. Prices are as per any other cinema unless you have discount vouchers or tickets which can be purchased at any Wallis cinema to save you money. Look out for their special events online diary for up and coming themes and dates held. They also have birthday party packages another good idea during school holidays or whenever. The cinemas' Boulevard Lounge is available for a snack or drink before or after a movie otherwise take a walk through the Mitcham Shopping Centre itself. Unless the movie I want to see is not screening, I don't bother travelling anywhere else, it's great!

I'm showing my age more than I'd like, but I remember Marion, TTP, the once many but now long gone city cinemas (apart from on Rundle St). I say remember because since the Mt Barker Wallis Cinemas opened, there has been no good reason to attend a film in any of the traditional suburban mall holes. I'm sure it probably isn't an amazingly better viewing experience than any other large cinema, nor is the huge pop corn and Coke any less of a rip off, but everything else about the place is 100 times better. Firstly, there is a pub just outside and it has windows.. and while we're talking about outside, the lobby of the cinema has windows! You actually can tell what time of day it is. In an age where we increasingly live indoors I find that a little comforting. Parking is a breeze here. Amazing. No driving around for 15 minutes. If the Christmas shopping season has started and you want to see a movie and you live 15 minutes from Marion, you are actually better off driving to Mt Barker. Maths. The staff are a breeze here too. I saw them eject an unruly Russell Crowe fan once and it was one of the most relaxed/satisfying/funny things I've ever seen in a cinema.. apart from on the screen. If you're one of the many who've been put off seeing films at the cinema, give Mt Barker a go. It's easier. And they have loads of ways of getting cheaper tickets.

It makes me feel like I'm living in another era, when the studio lights are dimmed, trailers start rolling, and the candy guy (in uniform) pushes the cart in for people to walk down and select snacks. I love it! It's so cute, and I don't think I've ever seen it anywhere else in Adelaide. Then again, perhaps other cinemas do it but I only ever come here. The candy cart just adds so much character. Or it could just be me unleashing my inner 5 year old child. The studios are kept clean, and although it's not really a big cinema complex, it plays quite a lot of movies and holds many sessions. Come here on Tuesdays if you're like me and don't see the point of paying twice as much on any other day. Have a pre-movie meal at one of the many selections on The Parade. I should warn you though, sometimes the trailers go for half an hour, sometimes ten minutes. It's weird and unpredictable - but kick back, relax and enjoy!

The complex is very clean, and the seats were uber comfortable - particularly compared to the somewhat cattle class seating in a megaplex, there was as much leg room here as there is in my Statesman. Nothing quite like the Gold Class offerings of the competitors, but you can get a good meal and movie package here, too. Sound was good, crisp, loud and clear - I didn't really feel a full surround sound experience here, but that may well have been the movie - "We Bought a Zoo" isn't the latest action blockbuster either :) Ticket prices... well... they're fair... I personally think all cinema's are overpriced for what they offer these days, but when they're all overpriced you get to live with it, right?? For the same price for a family of four we could have bought two full price DVD's and had them forever... why am I going to the cinema again??

Wallis Cinemas Noarlunga is a 5 cinema complex situated near Colonnades Shopping Center. The centre…read moreitself is quite large and is well decorated from the outside. Inside, you have a small snack bar, a small arcade and a nice waiting area. The complex is spacious and there is generally enough room to easily move around. The pricing of items at the snack bar is on par with the Event Cinemas complex at Marion with a regular popcorn setting you back $6.50. Staff at the snack bar are generally attentive and are friendly. When I went to see a movie, the cinema doors were open around 10 minutes beforehand to get a seat. Unlike other cinemas, the seating is not allocated and you can choose when you get inside, which I guess has its positives and its negatives. I found a seat around 3 rows from the front, which was about right. The cinema capacity is significantly less than that of Event Cinemas mind you, so three rows back was actually not that close to the screen. The seats were very much like Event Cinemas at Marion. They were very comfortable and spacious. Legroom was also more than sufficient, which was quite pleasing actually and the screen was of good size. It was a tad cold in the cinema though, but that appears to always be the case with every cinema I have been to, as they always seem to have the air conditioning cranked just a tad too high. Whilst waiting for the movie, they played music, which was a nice touch. When the screen lit up with the initial advertisements, the music cut off part way through the opening Wallis Cinema ad sequence, leaving a weird pop noise followed by the audio of the advertisement coming in half way through the ad. I found it quite weird that they were not synchronised, but nonetheless, this was no real issue. For the movie I went to see, a somewhat popular comedy, they played around 25 minutes of pre-screen ads. Now usually, I am very tolerant of this, because I love seeing new movie trailers and at Event Cinema they generally show 5 or so. During the 25 minute advertisement period, there were only 2 movie trailers. Not only was it longer than the 15 minute advertisement block at Event Cinemas but it was a lot of advertisements for companies and businesses. I understand that Wallis Cinemas need to make money and that playing movie trailers doesn't rake in the dough like tv commercials and other business ads would, but there were just so many ads that you see on TV being presented on the big screen. I have never had to look at my watch during a pre-screen advertising session before until I went here. The rest of the movie experience was good. The surround sound, albeit not as good as the one at Event Cinemas, was still very pleasant and at a volume that didn't burst the eardrums, and the lighting was controlled well. It's just the huge amount of ads, and half of the ads weren't even optimised for cinema, they were just the same you see on TV (unless you are watching a show back on a DVR and are forward feeding through the ads). Even if the pre-screen advertising had to be 25 minutes, I would have loved to have seen maybe a couple more movie trailers.

I love the location of this cinema, and that I can make a day out of coming to this centre, because we don't live very close. As I flatly refuse to pay of $20 for a movie ticket, I haven't tried the Gold Lounge here. I'm just one of the masses, and I'm happy enough with that. The seats are new and comfortable, and the place is well-looked after and cleaned so you don't have to watch the movie along with other peoples' mess. As a concession, the $14.50 isn't too bad, and the $17 adult price is average I suppose, but it still feels like a lot. I go here when I'm in the centre and if on impulse I want to see something fun (like Puss In Boots :D) but I wouldn't make the trip, and would normally hang out for Nova $6 Mondays.

We payed heaps extra to exclusively be seated in a cinema and be treated very well. But our seats were just sectioned off in a normal cinema so we felt as though we were one of the plebs with loud noises and popcorn. The food was ok, nothing spesh and ridiculously priced and the waiters coming out always disrupts you and they get in the way. Honesty, go to Marion, it's much better.
