Very cute and well managed shop! Half of the store has your typical touristy t-shirts & hats, but the other half has unique clothing. I would describe the clothing as earthy boho. The store is decently priced. The fitting rooms were open , but there is no public restroom. If you are in Ocracoke definitely stop in! read more

Looking for that non-touristy souvenir t-shirt shop? This is it! They have unique, fun, stylish souvenir t-shirts. Ya know those "Crazy Shirts" you can get in say, Hawaii? I would say that Mermaids Folly has shirts that are of the same caliber of fun but possibly more unique. They only sell apparel and accessories but for that young, hip person like yourself that you're trying to shop for, this would be the place to get that souvenir. If I could give zero star, I would. My son and I were walking with his dog and shopping. The dog went to see the flock of ducks in front of her store. The ducks flew. She came out of the store and told us we were not welcome at her store and that we scared the ducks. The dog was on a leash and at least 15 feet away. I will tell everyone to not patronize the shop. read more

I was so looking forward to stopping here after passing it looking for other souvenir stops. The thing that drew me to it was the fact that it had mermaid decor. I went inside and the only thing I found that was mermaid related were the mermaid clay models, very dissapointing. But if your looking for a womens clothing store then you have the right place. read more

If you want cheap souvenirs then this is not the place for you. The items they sell are not over priced, but you pay for the quality and unique items they offer. Expect to spend $20 for a t-shirt, but the shirts are unique and hold up to heavy wear and laundering. We make a stop here every time we visit Ocracoke. read more

This is my favorite place to go when we hit the Hatteras area. I am chomping at the bit the minute we arrive, to ferry over to Ocracoke. The selection of tees & hats for men and women are fabulous and of great quality. These are not cheap, souvenir tees that last maybe a season. These are great quality shirts that last a long time. They also carry some of my favorite Indian shirts that I have not been able to find since the 70's. Every year I come back with one or two more. Prices on them are fabulous! Oh, and a wonderful selection of scarves! Very unique skirts, tops, capris and more. You won't find these things anywhere else in the area. If you like unique women's clothing, this is a MUST on you list of places to go. read more

Whenever I'm in Ocracoke - best shop in town! Love the warmth of the place - great music and helpful, polite staff. Organized and my children always put an order in to bring them up some shirts from the Mermaids. As far as I'm concerned - a shop not to be missed - light and lively - friendly and fresh when you are far away from home. A first class shop! read more
