Now, don't get me wrong, i don't know where every book is or cant pin point shelves precisely but i'd say i'm pretty equip to know a good library when i'm in one. Even from outside Merthyr Tydfil's central library took my heart and my breath. In a huge building right next to a church with a beautiful entrance, you know the type that American colleges have, the Library looms high and proud. Inside, is large. Large enough to wander or work, mind your own business or get involved, it's totally up to you. Once your a member, internet is free and so is lending! Even though Libraries still seem to have that old fashioned air about them they really are worth looking inside. I like to take my notes and let my imagination run completely free amongst the greats of literature. Now, i'm an outsider in Merthyr so it was a pretty daunting feeling going into a new library especially after having experienced the witches if my university and the dragons of my local libraries but i was extremely happy, and bloody revealed at how happy and friendly the staff were here. Even the regulars were pleased to see a new face. I came out a member and with a word of the day. It was Decorum if your wondering!

The Gartholwg lifelong learning centre in Church village is a new building and a new concept in…read moreeducation .Teaching subjects that are usually outside normal educational institutions. For example they run courses such as 'computers for kids' For children aged 6-11 years , 'French for children' ages 5-11 and a drama academy for children also aged 5- 11. There is in addition many courses for adults. Under arts and crafts there is pottery, glass painting, and copper jewellery and many others. In other departments you can learn belly dancing ( if you are in to that! ) and Yoga, creative writing, cooking, sign language, Spanish, French and German. Basic photography, computing and many others The building also has a fully equipped sound studio that you can hire with a qualified audio engineer for £25 an hour. Also in the building is housed the local public library with the free use of computers This is only a brief outline of the activities that the centre provides . There is a free car park quite often very full . But I have always managed to find a place. .There are also other interesting activities at the centre For example on January 21 at 2pm Helen Charles the youngest survivor of a torpedoed world war two ship recounts her experiences' being rescued from the ship. Finally there is no group that can replace ABBA, They were unique, but I am told the group 'BJORN BELIEF' come very close in simulation . They are performing at the centre on Friday 6 th February The bar is open at 7.30pm and after the performance there is a 70/80's disco That's one I will not miss! Having attended an open day and informal interview i was pleased with the way people were generally concerned for your welfare and academic skills. Teamed with various other authorities and establishments there really is something for everyone here and being a stone throw away from the town centre it seems in the perfect location to. Amenities here are second to none as i got a tour of the computer suite and library. Probably one of the best colleges around. Go learn, party people!

I have been a member of Newport library for a number of years and highly recommend people…read morejoining,not only is it free to join but you can rent out the usual books as well as DVDs and Cd's.They have several computers upstairs and you can use these for free,you sometimes have to wait but you can pre book in advance then stay online for up to two hours. The library staff are very nice and will kindly help with anything you need,including finding books,joining,late fees etc. There are some really comfortable sofas in the library which you can sit down and relax whilst reading the newspaper or a good book. In today's hard times joining a library is a good way to save money and Newport is one of the best.

This is my favourite library in the city! It was refurbished about a year or so ago and is now a…read morereally relaxing, welcoming place to go and read a book and choose your next selection of books. Its well placed too, there is a bus stop right outside which takes you into the centre of Cardiff or alternatively up to Llanishen. They have sections on fiction and non -fiction, DIY, cookery, biography and of course, my favourite, crime fiction. If a book which you would like to read has not come into the library yet, you can order it and it only takes a matter of days to arrive. Please support your local library - they cannot survive without our support.

Took my number as they didn't have it in stock phoned me a little while later and not only did they manage to locate one from another area,a special book I had been trying to find they had bought! yes actually bought so that I and others could read. They are so so helpful and very polite. There are internet facilities free and also printing facilities (ideal if you have no pc) and the charge for a print out is minimal. There is a lovely section for children and has a play corner. they also have story tellers in so young children can be entertained and listen to wonderful tales sometimes even siging. Exellent
