Where do I start, especially after reading the negatives here. Our family's fur babies have been going to Neil for over 35 years, both for health care and kenneling. Is the clinic white glove clean? No. Is at times hard to get in for an appointment? Yes, because he IS SO BUSY! Does he cater to his regular, PAYING customers, especially those that make an appointment and keep it? not sure, but I do not blame him. I have been there every day of the week on occasion, and that man is always working. Bedside manner? The man is to the point, which I like from a doctor. Mesa's prices are MORE than reasonable, probably why such a following. I know I wont be price gouged or given excessive diagnoses. Does he call my girl husky "he" when she was spayed by him?... lol, Yes, .. but that does not bother me because I know he will do the best he can for the two remaining pets we have left, and this family has had numerous pets seen by Neil, horses, dogs, cats, rabbits on down. My dog had been going to dr. Willard for years. One night she looked at me and her eyes were bulging and white. I rushed her to her vet the next morning because it was an emergency and he refused to see her because she didn't have an appointment. He wasn't busy at the time. I will never go back to him. turns out it was acute glaucoma and needed treatment ASAP. As for his bedside manner it has always been very poor and he couldn't keep good help, so says all my neighbors who have gone to him. read more

I am writing this review for my mom as she is not good with the internet. "This place does not deserve to get a star at all. My dog was very sick and had not been able to eat or drink for two days. He kept throwing up and had diarrhea. I first took him to our regular vet (Broadway Animal) where he was first misdiagnosed and he continued to get worse. On day four, I was referred to take him to Mesa for a second opinion. However, they too missed what was wrong. They were quick to refer to exploratory surgery as the next option or go ahead and put him down! Seriously! BOTH of these clinics did not perform the simplest test - a fecal exam. By the third referral - the vet at Pet Care and Surgery Center was able to quickly find out what was wrong. After performing a fecal exam they found he has hookworms. He is now on the road to recovery thanks to a great clinic - Pet Care and Surgery Center located at 1404 E 4th St in Pittsburg, KS. Another complaint about Mesa is before they would see my dog, they said my phone number was tied to an appointment made in 2020 and I had to pay a $50 cancellation fee. I was desperate and paid for it. However, my daughter reminded me I just got that phone number in April 2021 when I had to get a new phone. I requested my $50 back and they denied me. I have MS and am on a fixed income. I truly feel this place is out to make however much money they can from anyone no matter the cost. In this case, it was at the cost of my dog who is my companion and sweet baby. In the end, they told me they were a "country" vet who deals with cows and horses. If that's the case, don't treat household pets. To most people, they are family and like their children. I recommend - DO NOT take your animals here." read more

I've been to this clinic several times for years, and have probably seen Dr. Willard at his worst and best. We all have bad days. He's human and so are his staff, but he is an excellent veterinarian and a good person and his staff are great also. Who cares if the office isn't as organized as someone else thinks it should be. Apparently, it works great for them because they are very efficient and helpful and that's what matters to me. Also their fees are very reasonable. Maybe someone there seemed rude, but they are not rude people and it's very possible that there was some sort of an emergency going on. That happens at veterinarian clinics. Also Dr. Willard is there to treat his actual patients and not your feelings, and that's the way it should be. He has always been very kind and respectful to me. read more

It says emergency 24 hour vet. My dog was hit by a car late at night and man on phone told me he could only see patients. We asked how to become a patient and he said we need to find another place to take our dog because he only takes his patients. Was not very nice about it at all. read more

This could be a nice clinic but needs a little help. Nice facility outside but inside is full of disappointment. I understand it was Saturday when I took our new puppy in for her first exam and vaccinations, but it didn't take long to realize we weren't coming back. We weren't really greeted at the door and behind the reception desk was what looked like years of paperwork, merchandise, files and receipts piled up. No genuine work space was useable. I wanted to start cleaning it up, or at least stacking it up nicely in piles. I sat down though and waited to be acknowledged. The assistant led us into a fairly clean room but I couldn't help but notice some bottles on the table with what I could only imagine was some type of bodily fluid or medicine (I hoped) dripping from it, and it looked like it had been there for a long time. The sharps container was disgusting and dirty. The doctor was very impersonal and never really looked at me. He was very methodical and robotic- like. I felt like such a number and not at all like a paying customer. I would have liked a few questions about my puppy and maybe a congratulations. I had a whole list of things that I wanted to ask but I felt like he didn't care so I put the list back in my purse. The assistant had to go back to ask a few questions regarding my next appt but I could tell the doctor was getting mad and was gruff with him so I just took the next available. I will be going elsewhere for my puppies needs. I hope they can find some time to get customer service training and to clean up that reception area. But it seemed like they were happy with how they were operating and maybe some don't mind, but I sure did. read more

Rudest staff and vet ever! The vet is on edge and snaps at his staff and puts them on edge. He's very impersonal and acts as if you are a bother to him when asking questions. Very cold and just down right ride and disrespectful. They're very short when answering your questions about your pet and treat their customers with disrespect. Not sure how they're still in business other than he's cheaper than most vets around. I guess you get what you pay for. Never again, not wort it! read more

Dr. Willard has been amazing with our dogs, and, most recently, our cat. Our cat Fiocco was nearly catatonic (no pun intended) and we were quite worried. When we took him to Mesa, they ran blood tests, got him on a catheter, medicated him, and kept him for two excruciating days. We were sure the bill was going to be more than we could afford in a single payment, but it was quite reasonable!! Dr. Willard showed me how to continue medicating Fiocco after bringing him home, and he is now as healthy and active as ever! While I was visiting my sister, I needed some quick doggie med advice. Mesa was close so I decided to drop in and see if they could be of help. I was definitely impressed. The good doctor recommended some gentle over the counter medication as opposed to pressuring me into some expensive medical treatment. That told me that this place isn't in it for the $$ but to make sure your best friend gets the best treatment possible. read more

Dr Willard is tops in the Midwest in canine reproduction. I have had three different females surgically AI'ed at the Mesa Animal Clinic, including a female that would not breed naturally, and all three resulted in a fine litter of puppies. And they keep your cost at a minimum as a bonus! read more
