I wandered into Mesa Machine a number of years ago needing something machined down to complete a modification I was doing to our old Chevy car. Since meeting Bill, the owner, I've relied on not only his facilities machine work but, Bill specifically for referrals to other strange things that have happened to us, mechanically. Besides Mesa Machines ability to true up expensive Baer brake drilled/slotted rotors, I'll be having them prep a 350 Chevy block for a simple freshen up. This place built a tractor motor for us and we installed it back in the machine only to find it wouldn't fire up , talked to Bill , he was very defensive and blamed it on us.... after a ton of time and diagnostic work we found the motor was assembled incorrectly and was out of timing by 3 teeth! Bill sent his mobile mech out to verify and fix the timing , but would not refund any money , we had to spend over 1000.00 extra with my mechanic to disassemble and reassemble . BILL was very rude and never even apologized about the situation . Do not do business with this establishment very unprofessional. read more

back in 2011, i had these guys install a aftermarket CVF Power steering pulley onto my power steering pump, and they put it on backwards. I couldnt believe it, the Old Timer says That Pulley aint coming off. In my dads Korean war vet.words, The Hell it is!..I took it off in 3 days without a hyydraulic press, flipped it, and life is good. Common Sense, says it should be easy to install a Power Steering pump pulley the Correct way. But, theyve done other stuff for me correctly like resurface vented Brake Drums and Cylinder Head/valve job resurfacing to perfection. read more

I really like Bill nice guy but the gorilla in the back that built my motor that I pulled out of my restored 65 mustang 3 times did not know what he was doing and should go learn a new trade. I regret the day I had a block sent to them from Arizona and now I find out 2 of the cylinders were sleeved and they did not even tell me? The engine is now out of my car and a priest could not get the demons out of this nightmare. I gave them aluminum heads and they did not drill the steam holes that Edlebrock requires and that was a waste of $3000.00. I ran the motor for 500 miles, I had 3 rear main seal leaks and they even advised me to use a speedy seal that is not suppose to be used with that crank. Go down the street to HDS and save yourself a ton of grief and disappointment and money. After 500 miles the cam bearings were on their way out. You could not read the receipt if you were a hieroglyphics reader. I have seen better work in T.J. Bill is a nice guy but the bonehead in back does not know his trade whatsoever. Go somewhere else..........ifyou like pain and problems than this is your place. After I paid over $2000.00 they said, that I wanted something for nothing. I'm an engine builder and I use this shop for most of my machine work. I've worked in a machine shop in my younger years and know what needs to be done, am very particular and specific with want i want done and am in no hurry. I have only had one mishap with Mesa and that was when they were to drill push rod holes to 9/16 and then mill ONE of the heads .010...they milled both and left me correcting a chamber. One would think to keep everything even, so i kind of understand, but it was IMO a case of someone 'thinking on autopilot'... Other than that i have not had a single problem or motor for that matter come apart, because i check ALL clearances and because they machined everything correctly for the intended purpose of each motor i was building. I do A LOT of cylinder head porting and most of the motors i build are in excess of 400+ hp. Bill is a good guy and has been around to know whats what, i've walked the shop, watched the work and i'm 100% satisfied. You may wonder why not 4 stars...? Because .010 off a head is far better than having a sleeve come loose, parts lost, chattered valve job like other places have done to my stuff 'HDS=HARDLY DONE SHIT ,RICKSMACHINE=IF IT AIN'T A DIESEL WE DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH IT,AUTOPOWER=TO STONED TO CARE THAT'S WHY WE WENT OUT OF BUSINESS. read more
