But it suffices. There's a basketball court, playground area, fitness area and picnic tables. Inside (only open during the summer), there is a basketball court, and some table games. Haven't been inside for some time, so not sure what all is currently there. Not usually too busy or crowded, but there is almost always someone there, either at the basketball courts, the field, playground area, picnic tables, or fitness court. The "Fitness Court" is a national fitness program, and has a Google App that you can download to find other "courts" in other towns across the country, as well as see examples of how to do the exercises with the equipment, and keep track of your progress.

The rec center here is the site of a well attended summer program and a couple of different sports practices like soccer. Lots of kids and lots of staff supervising. Have never had a problem with the kids at the park. Located a block from the East Mesa Pool. This is another plus. Also Nearby is the Sage Cafe Senior center which holds lots of activities like coffee get togethers, exercise, etc. Convenience store a block away as well as a Dominos Pizza. Generally a nice little park in an out of the way location.

For example, New Mexico State has appeared in the NCAA tournament more times than two-time national champion Florida (21), two-time national finalist Memphis (20), 1990 national champion UNLV (20), 1972 national finalist Florida State (18), 2004 national finalist Georgia Tech (17), 1942 national champion Stanford (17), 2019 national finalist Texas Tech (17), and two-time national finalist Butler (16). Since 1972, New Mexico State has played in four mid-major conferences that are still active today: the Missouri Valley Conference (1972-1983), the Big West Conference (1983-2000), the Sun Belt Conference (2000-2005), and the Western Athletic Conference (2005-present). The team was an independent and in the now-defunct Border Conference previously. Since beginning WAC play in the 2005-06 season, the Aggies have done well. They've won the WAC tournament nine times. From 2012 to 2019, they won every tournament except in 2016 (seven titles in eight years). New Mexico State head coaches during this era included Reggie Theus, Marvin Menzies, Paul Weir, and current coach Chris Jans. Sports fans are probably most familiar with Theus who was a two-time NBA All-Star and a TV/radio analyst, most notably with Turner Sports, the Los Angeles Lakers, and Fox Sports Net. The most successful Aggie coach was Lou Henson. Henson guided New Mexico State to its only Final Four appearance to date in 1970, back when the school was an independent. Henson played for the school back when it was known as New Mexico A&M (the school was renamed New Mexico State in 1960). He also served as athletic director at the same time (1967-1975). The court at Pan American Center (also known as the Pandemonium Center) in Las Cruces is named after Henson. He had a second, less successful stint as head coach from 1997 to 2005. The New Mexico State player I'm most familiar with is Pascal Siakam, and only because of his NBA career. Siakam declared for the NBA draft after his sophomore year. He was selected with the 27th overall pick by the Toronto Raptors in 2016. In 2017, he became an NBA D-League champion with the Raptors' D-League affiliate, the Raptors 905. In 2019, he became an NBA champion with the Raptors. In 2020, he was an NBA All-Star and made the All-NBA Second Team with Kawhi Leonard, Nikola Jokic, Damian Lillard, and Chris Paul. At New Mexico State, Siakam was WAC Freshman of the Year in 2015 and WAC Player of the Year in 2016. In 2015-16, he averaged 20.3 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks in 34.6 minutes per game. He was one of 41 AP Honorable Mention All-Americans in 2016.
