I have ordered twice, there will be no more. Both times it took a week or more to get my order out. The first one was complete, this one is missing an item, like how hard is it to count to 2 when I ordered 2 items?. Anyway just read all the reviews. The website says items usually ship in 2-3 days. My order didn't leave their facility until eight days after I placed the order. An hour after the shipment arrived my customer sent me a note stating because of the delay they found another solution to their problem and my solution was no longer needed. I contacted Metals Depot and explained my problem but they just told me all sales are final. Not even an apology for me having paid for material I no longer need because of their screw-up. I wish I had seen these reviews before I ordered from them. Presently out of 18 reviews the score is 15 one star and three two star. My one star will be number sixteen. I read the negative reviews and thought, "they can't be this bad." I was wrong. I found out first hand that the other negative reviews on shipping and processing are true. I agree that they simply can't or won't ship orders within a reasonable timeframe. Despite multiple inquiries with customer service saying my order would ship that day, this did not happen and the tracking numbers they gave came up unknown. It seems that once they have your money, they lose all incentive with honesty and fair business practices. If you want to chance it with this company, try to avoid aggravation by only buying things you never actually need or want. read more

Scammers. Shipping cost are set arbitrarily. Same size sheets quoted, same delivery company. Thinner sheets, weight 220 Lbs = $ 110.00 shipping cost. Thick sheets, weight 300 Lbs= $ 70.00 shipping cost. Confronted them over the phone, manager told me "to have a nice day". I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

They shorted me a line item so I could not start my customer's project on time. Instead of owning the mistake and acting expeditiously to make it right by using expedited shipping to get me the missing material, they used standard ground shipping further delaying my customer's project by 7 days. When I tried to explain how I was disappointed they didn't expedite the shipping, they would not listen and simply told me their policy was to use the same shipping as the original order. I tried to explain the flaw in that thinking: that just because I was ok with getting the material in 7 days doesn't mean I am ok with getting the completed order in 14 days. They didn't care. Shipping mistakes are part of life. It is how we own our mistakes and take care of our customers that make a difference! read more

They have a tolerance of 1/4 inch on there products so if you need more than one piece they will not match at all. A 1/4 inch either way equals a half inch difference between pieces. So if you want a really janky looking project order from them or order a very long piece and cut it yourself because I assume you can use a tape measure even tho these guys can't. read more

This place is the worst metal place you will ever waste your hard earned money on. The shipping takes forever and a day. I mean you'd be better off ordering from China! And the order will be wrong when you do get it. You're going to be out of the cash too and then they'll hit you with a dumb restock fee for their mistakes. You think that's bad? They have it all too. I will never ever ever ever ever do any business with metals depot ever again and not if they're the last place on earth. I'd rather mine my own metal out of the ground before I ever encounter them again. The people there are seriously horrific and just outright scum of the earth. Shipping time was as expected. 2 Stars because the aluminum square tube I ordered looked like it had been drug around the shop and then smashed with a hammer a few times. Covered in some type of grease and metal shavings. Cut quality on the ends is atrocious. read more

12"x4" piece of stainless steel stock has about 1/4" warp to it (holding down a corner, the diagonally opposite corner lifts up at least 1/4"). Also, the cuts on either end are not clean. read more

A week after placing my order I received a call saying that my order could no longer be filled at the advertised price on the website even though I had already paid in full. Instead, I was asked to pay double. Highly unprofessional considering I'd already paid and expected my order to be arriving by the time they called. These supplies were for a client's project, which will now be a week behind and will cost me more money. I've cancelled my order with them and will be looking elsewhere for metal. read more

My order arrived damaged which I understood. I called them and they gave me my options: a discount or returning and reshipping a replacement. Unbeknownst to me, they only give you 10 days to determine what you're going to do. In ordinary circumstances, that's reasonable but when that ten days falls in the Holidays, I find their lack of flexibility unacceptable. Excellent. Ordered two pieces of flat bar cut to length. They shipped within 48 hours, and I got the shipment by UPS Ground five days later.

Stay away...these people are useless. I bought two sections of stainless steel mesh, at 1' x 4' lengths (from a drop down menu, indicating a "stock" cut size), and paid $180. The impression frombthe description and images, was that the direction of the diamond pattern woupd be horizontally along the 4' length, but instead ended up being vertical...useless to me. I never even removed the metal feom the box, but they refused to offer me even a partial refund. That is only one of the issues with this company. I agreed to take the $186 as a loss, and order 2 more sheets of 1' x 4', and emphasize the direction of the pattern. Inwas told the ONLY way for them to get the pattern going horizontally, I would have to order a 4' x 4' sheet (that this custom metals superstore could not cut a sheet is the SAME size as every other piece of metal they offer, but rotating it a 1/4 turn before doing so)....and pay $180 for freight shipping, on an $80 sheet of aluminum (changed to aluminum to help lessen the loss from the other sheets I am now stuck with). Ordered a few 2' pieces of steel flat bar on Monday, January 15, 2018. I was told by their customer service that it would be shipped by the next day and arrive on Thursday, January 18,2018. Having not received a tracking number, I called on Thursday to find out the steel had just been shipped, and the customer service person denied that I was ever told that it would arrive on Thursday. I was not able to meet a project deadline due to the delay, so tried to cancel the order at that point and get steel from another source. I was notified that it had shipped Thursday (no tracking number still) and that NO RETURNS are allowed even though I had no custom cuts. What a poor way to run a business. I would give this place a Negative 10 if possible. I called last week to order Brass material that is full Domestic, Melted & Mfg. in USA. After reviewing the certifications that came with the material we called to confirm Traceability and Metals Depot told me they send certs out but have ZERO Traceability to any material they have. i've made over a dozen orders from these guys from custom cut to stock length material. every order has been spot on perfect and i get second day shipping because i live so close to them so standard shipping gets to me in 2 days! i read some reviews and i have to call the BS card on 2 of the bad reviews. the first BS card is for the buyer that needs a custom quote... YOU NEVER EMAIL FOR A CUSTOM QUOTE THATS WHAT THE FREE PHONE CALL IS FOR! THAT GOES FOR ANY ONLINE BUSINESS WHERE YOU NEED A CUSTOM QUOTE. the second BS card goes to the guy saying his shipping costs more than the order! WELL all i can say is either pay $100 shipping on an $80 order or simply order 20 bucks more OF ANYTHING and get free shipping!! come on it isnt rocket science. secondly the shipping calculator is automated so you have to watch what you put in the order. i had a pretty large order and added one 6' stick of 1/2"x1/2" angle and the shipping went from 17 bucks to $130! i removed that angle and the shipping went back to 17. sometimes you have to make two small separate orders to get the best shipping rate or CALL THEM AND TALK TO A HUMAN TO ADJUST THE AUTOMATED SHIPPING CALCULATOR! Hey everyone I have an update! One of the pieces I ordered was 4 inches short! Now maybe they are using that new common core math or they were all too excited about the Daytona 500 being on that weekend but due to the one piece being short it made my order to my customer one piece short so I delivered 11 instead of 12 pieces. Then I had to source a small piece of material locally at a premium because I wasn't ordering a full length. How about that! Way to go Metals Depot! This was the best place we had ever ordered our metal from. They could always get us what we needed when we needed it and cut to the size we needed as well. This would have been a 5 start review but because of the office staff they hire they will only receive a 1 star. One of the girls in office named Kara Puckett has been having an affair with my husband since we started buying our metal from here. It was a crazy sight to check my video camera I hid in the bedroom and see Kara Puckett in my bed with my husband. So thank you metals Depot for hiring a home wrecker and letting her ruin families and still allow her keep her job so she can continue to do the same to other customers. Now unfortunately because of Kara Puckett you will be losing our business along with anyone else I know that has a husband buying metal from you all. I don't know about your company but we have values in our company and would never allow something like this to happen. And if did happen when we found out what happened the worker would be let go on the spot. One thing we strictly do not allow is work place dating, that means no dating other employees and absolutely no dating the customers. After talking to some other people about this, apparently this is not the 1st or even the 6th time she has wrecked a family while working for metals Depot, and she only started working there in 2017. So my question to is why would you keep someone working for you knowing they like to break up families and cause trouble for your business? I did try and report the issue to the owner, I called and spoke with a Kathie Adams last week who said she would have them call me back but I have yet to receive a call back. read more

4 pieces aluminum bar ordered online on a Tuesday evening. Material was shown in stock. On Thursday evening material had not yet arrived (UPS ground from KY to PA) and site showed order was "processing". Called Friday morning to check and was told order was shipping that day. I tried to cancel order (needed material for the weekend) and was told I would have to pay a 30% restocking fee.!? For an order that had not yet shipped! Anyway - no excuse for sitting on a stock order for three days before shipping UPS. Do not use this company if you have any expectation of reasonable ship time. read more

Prices are about the same as everyone else.The problem I have is I ask for a specific size that is on their website and instead of getting that size I get a thinner substitute.There reason was is "we don"t carry that". So instead they give me cut material out of a thinner sheet and then they charge me per cut.Well I ended up paying more for less material and I paid more than I would have buying an entire sheet and cutting it myself.I contacted them and tried to resolve this.But all I got was a runaround and excuses without resolution.Here the customer is always wrong I guess.If you ask me it was a waste of time and money.I would have been happy if they would have just givin me the remainder of the material.It isn't my fault they are advertising something they don't have.Seems awful Like A BAIT AND SWITCH!!!!
