Super fresh and avant-garde. The atmosphere is incredibly unique and visually striking. 10/10 for the experience. Visuals were stunning but the flavors didn't quite live up to the hype. Smoked Oysters: Absolute highlight. Deep, smoky and delicious. Duck Breast: A bit disappointing. The cook was slightly off. A visually captivating experience but the taste was a bit hit-or-miss for the price. Great for the "avant-garde" vibe but lacked that extra punch in flavor.

First of all, what an experience. When you first walk up to the restaurant, you greeted by a large nest like decor. It looks like you're entering nature. As soon as you walk in, do you no longer feel like you're in Los Angeles. This restaurant combines nature into the overall experience, where find attention is paid to the dish itself, the utensils, the aroma of the restaurant, and down to the taste of each bite. If you're here, you might as well get the six course menu, it is totally worth it. The service is phenomenal, and I am in shock at the different combination that the chef envisioned and executed. I have never thought persimmon to be paired with scallops. Everything is cooked over live fire. You get an exotic taste with every bite you take. I truly enjoyed my experience here and would recommend coming at least once, twice, or a few times, when the menu changes.

Celebrated my birthday at Meteora, and it was definitely a memorable experience. We made a reservation and were seated right away in the main dining room. The vibe and décor are very unique and immersive, which made the whole evening feel special. For the course meal, we had the Crudo of Mt. Lassen Steelhead, Pacific Black Cod, Embered Murasaki Yam, 14-Day Dry-Aged White Pekin Duck, and Hearth Roasted Pineapple. We also added the Black Winter Truffle "Risotto." I opted for the wine pairing with my meal. We started with bread and butter served with maple banana syrup, which was really good. Both the presentation and taste of each dish were exceptional. Everything was cooked perfectly, and all the sauces that accompanied the dishes were heavenly. Service was impeccable and the pacing of the meal was great. The dishes came out fairly quickly, with the only bit of a wait being for dessert. They also brought out a complimentary birthday dessert, which was a nice touch. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience. I would highly recommend this place for any celebration.

Let's start with this place was so special from the entrance to the dining. When you walk up it's like a hidden Oasis - a very large door and excellent service. I saw the restaurant online but what got my attention was the REAL Plants all over - which brought Freshness.. get aesthetics throughout. Immediately to the right is the bar where I ordered Buddha Martinis it was the best! The bar tender broke down the ingredients as you take a sip of the speciality drink.. I got three!! Next up was the 6 course tasting menu.. everything was prepared to greatness. All I can do is recommend trying yourself but book in advance. The server was a very kind woman - shot out to (Sahara) Everytime I needed her to be present she was without hesitation , definitely showing her mastery skills of the waitress business by memorizing the entire menu all while giving suggestions. I will return 10/10

Great service, great food. Good value at price point. Not quite destination worthy in my book but a great choice if you're in Los Angeles. My favorites of the 6 course tasting menu was the scallop dish and all the desserts. I'm not a huge fan of dull starches so some of the dishes I liked individual components more than the whole dish.

This was an experience! I had reservations at 9pm on a Saturday. Valet was $16, but you can do street parking. Parking wasn't too hard to find when I went. The front door is shaped like a giant nest. The inside was magical. Bathrooms are clean and co-ed. Sinks are outside the stalls. The stalls are hot. They have candles in there which make it really warm. It's also dark. The menu is a 5-course meal, but the chef gave us a few complimentary dishes which made the experience special. My favorite item that night was the black cod. My least favorite was the scallops, but that's only because I don't really eat raw fish. If I was someone else, I think I would like it. The people I had dinner with all had different favorites, and overall, the food was wonderful. It wasn't too small and we left satisfied. Service was okay. It felt a little snooty...not a lot of smiles, and they seemed like they were only there to do their job. Not sure how the work environment is there, but it kind of shows. Also, they change your utensils after each course, which I thought was a little wasteful, but I guess it's all part of the experience. Overall, I rated Meteora a 4. The food was good, vibes were wonderful, service could use a little more hospitality training, but it wasn't terrible. Maybe I just went on an off night.

Appetizer on the house ~ changes constantly

Was able to try out this 1 star Michelin restaurant Meteora tonight and the first view was a gigantic bird nest looking door entrance. The moment you walked in, you see a standing and seating lounge like area while waiting for your seat to be ready~ The overall dining area feels modern meets jungle vibe, very unique! And all the staff greets you with a big smile :) Opted in on the 4 course meal with 1 add-on. I choose the kiwi yuzu mocktail & it was nice, refreshing, and with just enough tanginess to stimulate your appetite :P Before the appetizer was an on the house pre-appetizer. House baked bread with a liver mousse patte like texture spread with charcoal powder on top and banana syrup in the middle. Very delicious! First appetizer is the honey grilled scallop with Taiwan mustard green, caramelized plantain, drizzled with burnt onion soup. A nice balance between sweet and savory~ Second appetizer is the Japanese yam with smoked salmon roe and papaya. Interesting combo of the subtle smokiness and saltiness from the roe in conjunction to the sweetness of the papaya and yam. Small suggestion might be the heaviness of the cream being slightly overpowering the natural sweetness of the Yam if eaten together. Add-on dish is grilled avocado with caviar paired with house baked sourdough. What surprises me is how the avocado still keeps its shape and not being mushy while being so silky soft once you bite into it. The added larger pieces of salt on it with the caviar creates this nice balance of complex flavor that perfectly pairs with the soft sponginess of the freshly baked sourdough. My favorite dish tonight! Entree is a play on traditional Pekin Duck dish mixed with a modern Californian cuisine twist. They even shaved some special salt in coconut?over the duck before you eat it. The presentation was fun and interactive~ The moment you bite into the duck, the skin side takes you to a Chinese restaurant vibe of how crispy the skin is. Next bite of the meat portion drizzled with burnt maple syrup paired with carrot and leek transform you into back into this fine dining environment! Very interesting :P Dessert comes with a cold mousse ring with a thinly baked cookie over it. Server then cut a piece of roasted pineapple and topped it on the dessert and drizzle some olive oil into the middle~ the warm temperature of the pineapple mixed with the cold mousse is quite interesting. Overall, the experience is fun and delicious~ hope this review helps :)

Great place for a romantic date, all the courses are absolutely delicious and well presented. It's a very aesthetic space. I can't wait to go back.

    Persimmon and scallops

This was an incredible and inventive tasting menu. There were many flavor pairings I'd never tried together, like persimmon and scallop; plantain and perfectly cooked sea bass, and smoked banana peel butter! I loved the use of fire throughout - even the burnt elements didn't taste charred and bitter but helped to elevate the dish. However, I do feel like the standouts were the earlier dishes, rather than the "main". We first had the buckwheat cakes with burnt banana butter - deliciously sweet with a crispy exterior and warmth inside. Next we enjoyed scallop and persimmon, this was one of my favorite dishes of the night! The textures and flavors worked in perfect harmony and balanced the saltiness, sweetness, earthiness very well. Next up was the sea bass and plantain. They served two different kinds of plantain balls, which were both delightful and I cries irl when taken together with their umami heavy broth and flaky, buttery fish. This was another one of my favorites. The next dish was their "signature", burnt yam with salmon roe and pear I think? While I enjoyed the balanced flavors, I wasn't as impressed as other diners seemed to be. That said, I don't like caviar but enjoyed the brininess cutting through the herbed butter sauce. The "entree", came next, with aged duck breast with carrots and smoked maple sauce. While the duck was cooked well, this dish fell a little flat to me and for some reason felt very five spice heavy, and im not even sure there was five spice in the sauce! Next they served a dessert that was an extra and not part of the menu but I honestly wish they hadn't. I think it was tangerine flavor but it tasted overwhelmingly pine-y, I felt like I was chomping on a Christmas tree. Not enjoyable for me, but it may have been personal preference, as I my husband agreed with my pine-forward flavor analysis, but enjoyed it nonetheless. However, they made a comeback with the true dessert, I called it a pineapple pie - beautifully layered tile with charred pineapple, Ice cream and a crumble of sorts on the bottom. The balance of sweet and salty was incredible and they paired it with a corn spirit. This ended the meal on a high note. I am very interested in coming back to try different menus and I absolutely love their emphasis on sustainability and highlighting little utilized ingredients. Thank you!

Great place to celebrate special occasions. We came for my husband's birthday, and they had a cute birthday card on the table when we arrived. We were blown away just by their starter dish, which was an amazingingly soft bread served with vegan butter There's an option to choose between the duck and wagyu -- I had the duck, which I actually preferred over the wagyu that my husband ordered My favorite dish was their surprise entree that was not on the set menu - a buttery yam that was served when they were first awarded the michelin star. Apparently if you dine at the bar for their a la carte menu, you can order this dish. The vibes here are immaculate, it feels like stepping into a jungle as soon as you walk in. From the lush interior design to the music they play, every detail sets the mood. I loved the bar design, and even the entrance is incredibly unique. Also - I really love that they have an option for non alcoholic juice pairing. I haven't seen that before, and it's a wonderful option for those who don't drink alcohol. The juice blends were so unique, and surprisingly paired really well with the dish they were served with. My favorite drinks were the elderberry and pomegranate. Overall, it was such an amazing experience that we went back again the following week

Food 5/5: All dishes were amazing! The intricate flavors, presentation and creative combination was very awe inspiring. The pics don't do it justice, definitely worth going. My favorite was the smoke duck, perfect balance if fresh ingredients and flavors. The cocktails were average, but the food was what I was there for and it did the staff did not dissapoint. Service 5/5: Great great staff. Very friendly crew and extremely informative. They answer every question and offered direction on how to combine the different flavors. Ambiance 5/5: Beautiful decor, love the natural elegance of the plants and wood decor. Very warm and inviting! Parking is in the rear, valet.

Been counting down the days to try this much talked about restaurant. Same chef as destroyer and Vespertine which I both thoroughly enjoyed. The venue was extraordinarily beautiful with the greens that fell from the ceiling and ticketed lighting that also draped from the ceiling. Super cute and chic. Was hoping the dining experience would be a quiet and more private seating arrangement but the tables were all very close so could essentially hear their conversations even if not intentionally eavesdropping. Also, the restaurant was fully booked, so the staff seemed to be very busy and felt they were in a slight rush. Otherwise, this is a tasting menu which includes five courses. The chef was also kind enough to serve two additional dessert, tastings in addition to the menu. Each dish was beautifully plated, and the flavor was dynamic. Here's what we had: 1. House bread which was made with toasted buckwheat (love) with plantain butter. Super healthy especially for those that are avoiding high carb intake. Also very delicious.. 2. Crudo of Sue Burton Diver Scallops: fresh scallops caught daily and brought in fresh. Topped with yuzu persimmons and kelp chips, and lightly seasoned with green meyer lemon juice and specially made salt from the Philippines. 3. Pacific Black Cod: black cod brushed with hazelnut sauce. At the center of the dish are plantain dumplings, onions, and grilled Taiwanese Mustard greens. They then pour a dark sauce made with caramelized onions and black trumpet mushrooms over the dish. 4. Embered Murasaki Yam: this was my favorite dish. Burnt Murasaki Yam that's charred over fire and caramelized inside. Paired with papaya topped with lime zest, and at the base is the hazelnut and cucumber bites and salmon roe. Grass fed butter sauce with sake leaves, cilantro stem and chives poured right over it. Soooo good. 5. 21 day dry aged White Peking Duck: Peking duck from Sonoma county paired with honey nut squash and underneath is an heirloom sesame seed cream and in the center of the dish is a burnt maple sauce. Pretty good but the duck was a little gamey. May be more because I'm not a big duck fan. However they do offer Wagyu and other options to replace the duck for additional charge. 6. White Jaguar Cacao: at the center is ganache which are made with Macambo beans (nutty coating of cacao),and surrounding the ganache are quinoa, coconut bites, and cacao nips. This is then coated with cucumber and coconut topping. This was my favorite dessert of the night. 7. Chefs special/extra from the chef: tiger nut custard (type of sweet potato's with cacao fruit, apricot season and rum cream. Lightly sweetened. Very good. And a second which were apples with brown butter jam. Very nice. Overall good experience here. Felt the staff were a little rushed but could be in part as we were late for our reservation due to bad traffic (very grateful the restaurant was still able to honor our reservation). Seemed very busy. Wish it was a little less crowded to experience a more quiet dinner with friends. Would still recommend you try it out.

Came here to celebrate my anniversary with my husband and it was a really great experience-- exceptional food and immaculate service. The design of the place both inside and out was very esthetic and full of plants which I personally like. The entrance door didn't look like a door we walked right past it lol. We got the 6 course meal with juice pairings and I enjoyed every course of it. But I particularly enjoyed the scallops with persimmon-- really liked the combo of slight sweet with umami. The duck is a must try. I normally don't eat duck but this one went way beyond my expectations. My husband got the lamb and it was just ok. Dessert was delicious!

Sugar Snap Peas: Tastes good, but an interesting choice. Usually, they're cooked, even when served as an appetizer, so it was a little off-putting. Bossam: Absolutely delicious. This is more than enough for 3 people. It's very tender and flavorful; it does not disappoint. We loved the option of both butter lettuce and perilla leaves for wraps. Pavlova: Unfortunately, we did not enjoy this dessert option. The way it was described on the dessert menu, we expected a mousse, but it was a merigue instead Parking: It's very difficult to find street parking. There's a parking lot across the street available, and I think it was $15.

I got the skirt steak cooked medium rare -- flavor was good, but it was a little tough to cut. I think it would've paired even better with some garlic butter or chimichurri on the side. The mac and cheese was SO good and easily one of the highlights of the meal. Creamy, flavorful, and definitely something I'd order again. The pork chops were delicious and packed with flavor, but the spinach underneath was a bit too bitter for my taste. The mashed potatoes were creamy, soft, and comforting. We also loved the Brussels sprouts and Caesar salad -- both were super solid sides. Drinks were perfect and balanced out the dishes really well. Service and atmosphere were great too. Would definitely come back to try more items on the menu next time we are in the area.

It was bland and portion was just smaller than I expected. There is a location in Pasadena and the pasta was seasoned well and balanced and what I feel the portion was much bigger. I do have to assume it's due to the location of this establishment. The ambiance was pretty slow however the inside decorations were so cute and pleasant on the eyes. I wouldn't come here for the food, perhaps a drink and a small app.

Still stands-up to the hype after all these years…read more If "Trendy" was a restaurant, Bestia would easily be in top contention, even after being around for more than a decade. That says a lot. Once upon a time (a few years ago), my CFP + banking institution wanted to thank me for being one of their top private clients. They expressed their gratitude with a very generous, all expense paid full-course meal at Bestia. To say that I was impressed would be an understatement. Fast forward to now, I knew that coming back here would be a good idea. Make no mistake, even if you try to book a reservation several weeks in-advance, don't be surprised if the only available seats are at the counter. Granted, I was in a spacey table during my past visit, the counter can be an enjoyable & unintentionally entertaining space. It's great for a more casual vibe, as you get to see some of the kitchen workers put together some of their signature dishes. In many ways, Bestia seems like a microcosm of the city that it rather humbly resides within. What always catches me off-guard, is that the surrounding simple area really doesn't reflect the happening, vibrant, night-life that resides within the building's walls. You feel like you're taken so a different, very social, very bustling world. WINE: Podere 72, Poderi San Lazzaro (Marche region, central Italy) - 8.7 / 10 A very robust blend of Montepulciano & Sangiovese grapes that results in a balanced, medium bodied red wine that stands-up to heartiness of a beef ribeye steak. FOOD: Roasted Bone Marrow - 9.4/ 10 I have several friends that go here just for this particular dish. Funny enough, one can almost always tell that one is at Bestia because of the rather peculiar manner in which this dish is served. Hot, melted bone marrow is appropriately scooped out of the bone & poured onto spinach gnocchetti. It's like eating beef flavored mouth pillows of potato + spinach. It's definitely a dish that will impress whoever you are with. I can never resist ordering this whenever I am here. Oxtail alla Vaccinara - 8.9 / 10 The deep, rich maroon color of the rigatoni (thanks to beets) is a sight to behold. The pasta is firm but not too hard. It's a humble yet complex pasta dish that complements any main course. 26oz Margaret River Wagyu Ribeye - 9.4 / 10 Anybody who knows me knows that I love my ribeye. Any decent fancy restaurant does a ribeye. But no one does a ribeye quite like Bestia. The fermented mushroom cream delivers a punch of pungence not unlike a delectable dijon mustard, but to the highest of levels. This dish also makes me a believer in well-cooked onions served alongside steak. I usually like to take a home a portion of ribeye for later, but this is one of the very few instances when the steak is so good, that I can't help but finish it here. Again, the portion is more than enough to be shared. Fromage Blanc Mousse - 9.1 / 10 This seasonal dish hits all the right notes. It's the fanciest of cheesecakes, so I recommend sharing this. With its decadence, a little truly goes a long way & that's perfectly fine. The richness of the cheese is offset perfectly by the right balance of candied kumquats. A great "bite" to end on. Huge shout-out & thanks to Radu for being the nicest & most enthusiastic of servers. It's little things like him being so down to take pics of you with your party that really make me want to come back here. It the owners / management is reading this, please recognize how pivotal he is to your team. If he was working under me, I would most definitely give him a raise. Also, shout-out to Dani at the hostess stand. She is one of the most personable people. For being the first person that patrons see upon entering, she is the perfect face, attitude, & welcoming personality that the hospitality industry is in dire need of. She's a rockstar of a hostess & a pleasure to talk with. Bestia is a better place because of valuable employees like Radu & Dani. As always, come for the food. Come back for the service. I would definitely come back because of how amazing Radu & Dani are. Years after the hype, the vibe is still very much happening at Bestia.

We felt the booth seats shaking the entire time. We looked back at the people behind us, and they also looked at us wondering where the shaking was coming from. We had a full on conversation searching for the source. IT was like an earthquake with the seats rattling around and became really distracting. MY seatmate date and I later figured out the movement was from the party across from us. I guess all the booths are connected. It was really loud in the restaurant as expected. 3 starts for atmosphere and the vibe I got from our waiter. THe food was on point and delcious Bestia 10/10 quality for the pasta and pizza. The Peruvian scallops were forgettable. The duck was over salted. I didn't enjoy the experience sitting at the booths inside. We ordered wine by the glass and it was very good. For the meal we had the asparagus, chili, cornbread, pork chop, and sweet potato. Each course was impressive, with masterful flavor profiles and perfectly prepared. The timing of the meal was at an excellent pace. We never waited long for anything. Desert was the chocolate cake, which was ok but we saw picture of a layered cake on Yelp (with frosting) but this one was a basic cake. Still tasty but not what we expected...but we certainly take responsibility for that misunderstanding. Overall, a great experience. I hope to return to try the ribeye one day. I also wanted to try the burger but they told us that it was discontinued after only a very short run. Thanks to the Dunsmoor staff for making it a great experience!

I arrived early for my reservation, but the counter was still occupied due to a kitchen delay, so I had to wait at the wine bar, which was crowded and loud as well. But throughout this process, the staff at check-in was nice. They gave me 1 update, said I would wait 25 minutes, and then took me to my seat 10 minutes later. Communication was decent, and they made me feel welcome. The apology came in the form of 1 free sparkling wine drink, which was nice. Food: Good but not excellent and on the pricier side. Ordered the Albacore, which is a must, and that tasted really great. Got a Carolina Gold Rice with seafood, which was good, more like risotto, but much more watery; the seafood was fresh. Wish this came out with my main course. For the main course, I got the trout. The fish was fresh. It took a while for the order to come out. The fish skin was mostly crunchy and tasty, which is nice, and it came mostly deboned. The big down for me was that it tasted ok and the fish was drenched in oil, way too much oil. Overall, it was good, but not all of the dishes were a hit, and considering the cost, this place will give me pause before coming back. Ambiance: Not sure I would take someone on a date here unless I've been out with them a few times already. The acoustics in the space are just echoey and on the loud side. I had to wear my AirPods the whole time with either noise cancellation or transparency. They should really dampen the noise in that dining hall more. Also, there are long family-style tables in about 3 rows. I don't know how I would feel about that overall, but that is just me. I prefer to have my own table with my group. Lastly, parking is either street or valet. I think there's a valet, but you can park around the neighborhood, just be prepared to hunt a bit for parking on busy nights.
