Their food has improved although I still wouldn't eat here on a regular basis. I love the pub and the fact that I can grab an affordable cold beer and drink it by the pool while watching my toddler swim. A children's playground that your kid could play hours in and a bunch of courts for tennis, badminton and the most competitive solo game ever (with a wall), squash are just a few additions to its main attraction: a real football field. Yes! With real grass and no hidden potholes! I love going here with my kid. Tip: They're going to close in 5 years so become a member now or visit it with a member! Also, you need to bring enough cash cause the food is a bit pricey and will need you to pay through their coupon system.

I love how sports bring people together, how strangers become friends when faced against a mutual opponent, or how you get to meet random people because you like the same thing - this is what I feel every time I pay a visit to Nomads. It's beautiful; the main focus of the club is their well-kept green football fieid where many sports events have been held. Facing the field is a complete bar set-up where you can hang out and watch some sports on a flat screen, or live on the field. Their food is also really good, I've tried a bunch of their dishes, and a lot of them have had the pleasure of following me to my dreams at night. (Aside from the field, they also have other sports facilities like the gym, a lap pool, badminton court, tennis courts, squash court, and others I haven't yet explored.)

There is a large green space with trees lined about so she can pretend there's a forest. The playground features a kiddie gym with slides and a bridge. She can play on it for hours thinking it's a castle. There are also a few other playground sets surrounding the gym and feature seesaws, rocking horses/trucks, smaller slide sets and a pair of swings. The place also has a basketball court in the back, clean bathrooms because of the rentable clubhouse and well yeah, a clubhouse you can rent for parties. The park is also fairly empty except in the late afternoons but it's never as chaotic as the one in Salcedo. There's a mini grocery nearby and a branch of Becky's Kitchen so you can grab juice and brownies after a tiring afternoon of playing.

The park is one of the things my daughter and I love about the move because of the playground. Situated in the middle of greenery, the playground features padded flooring and a nice jungle gym set. My daughter loves the slides and the rope bridge. At first, she was hesitant to cross it because the spaces between the ropes were too big for her little toddler feet. She started out by crawling across, then she got more confident and started walking on it. Me and my mommy milestones! *tear* There are a number of parent-child or yaya-child tandems that hang out here, too. It usually doesn't fill up until around 2 or 3 pm, but coming by earlier isn't too hot as well because of all the trees that shade the playground. Aside from that, there are jogging and biking paths around the park. The main function hall, which can be split into two smaller areas or opened up to become one big room, is located by the driveway. It seems like there's a birthday that happens there every weekend so if you plan to rent the place out, make a reservation well ahead of time. Sunday masses are also held here. There's a basketball, tennis, and badminton court on the premises as well. There's a convenience store, a tutorial center, laundry service, and a Metrobank ATM, too. The convenience store closes at around 8 pm, from my observation.

As it is a place that tries to provide all sorts of things to its members, my memories at Celebrity…read moreis also a hodgepodge of stuff. Let's start with the freshest: my rally to be the next tennis star. I have been a beginner at the sport ever since I picked up that racket the summer before freshman high school. (Trust me, that's a long time ago.) Though my sessions are sporadic, (some seasons would have me hitting the court with such fanatic frequency, while there were months I'd be completely absent from the scene) my regular instructor has for all these years been patient and relentless, determined even, in making an adequate player out of me. Some technical details: the courts are covered which makes it an all-weather facility, just as long as you can ignore the loud thumps of raindrops pounding on the roof during times of great deluge. The flooring is the type they use at the U.S. Open so you could be assured that your knees and your shoes will remain happy. There are four courts, and since I am a complete mess (thank God for them dedicated ball boys), they assign me to the ones by the wall, which they net off from seasoned players. Booking schedules could be feisty and one has to reserve a slot (and instructor, if you need one) ideally before 10/11 am. The last session's from 9pm to 10 so sometimes I pull off a gran turismo in order get to Quezon City from farlandia Makati. As I have said, they have a team of ball boys which you simply need to tip 50 to. The use of facility is strictly for members only, which does not mean non-members will be cast away. Though you won't enjoy preferential rates, one simply has to find a sponsor the way I do with my parents. (They took away my dependent status when I turned legal age.) Another area in the Club close to me is the Olympic size swimming pool. When I was a kid, our father would sometimes spend a lot of time at the bowling alley or at the day spa (When I got older, I discovered the spa too so they had to put a cap on my signing privilege.) So we kids would be left spending the day floundering about by the rim of the pool. There is also a poolside café that would serve the usual fare one would expect in a club house. And perhaps the last notable piece of experience I have here is when I took up archery that summer in between college and post graduate school. (Though last time I checked, they have cleared out the dojo to make way for a sport I am not really familiar with.) It was really fun and surprisingly challenging. A sport that looked so serene and magnificent actually demanded so much from its player both in the physical and mental fronts. I was so into it until I found myself wanting to find out how it feels to shoot an arrow flying straight unto human flesh, piercing against skin and muscle, and that's when I thought maybe I should drop the sport even if I still had a few sessions credited to my tab.

I'd like to do this review and share our experiences from planning and the actual event. First of all, I give Anne, the Sales Reservation Officer 5 stars for her assistance through the process. I am based abroad and I did everything remotely and it was not easy. She was very attentive and truly cares in giving us a great experience at this club. We encountered some mishap on the function room set up and she facilitated the set up changes we requested and still able to meet our timeframe. The event was a family reunion which entails a lot of bonding and therefore this Agono & Barras rooms should not be recommended to cater for this purpose because the divider cannot be opened fully to have 1 big function room . The food was delicious from the main to the desserts but the best part are the service staff. They were attentive and catered to everything we needed. Lastly, this club has a very old and dull looking facade. The club sign is an eye sore and truly needs some serious refurbishing. It matters because that's the first thing you see and the club sign would be nice to be featured on the video of the event. That takes out 1 star for this my review. Thank you Anne and to your wonderful service staff.

Though the facilities are not as new or "flashy" as the other clubs in the Makati area, Valle Verde Country Club or VVCC feels like a second home for me and my family. I spent my summers here with my friends and cousins. This is where we would have Sunday lunches with family and friends. My dad and brother still go here on weekdays to play tennis. I go here to eat! :) Like any club, you need to be a member to get into VVCC. I only get to eat here because of my dad's membership and he's been a member since the 70's. Some of the waiters here have been working for VVCC since the 80's and know the members like they were family. They know my dad so well that, once they see him, they will have his regular order prepared! The food here is top-notch and they also make a point to add new dishes every month. My favorite dishes are the Pork Chops (two thick pork chops + rice and unli-gravy), Corned Beef, Lengua con Champignon (ox tongue with mushroom butter sauce), and Roast Beef. All their dishes are delicious. I haven't ordered anything I did not like. On Sundays, they have their lunch buffet which includes made-to-order Mongolian rice and barbecue/grilled meats. The lunch sets are "super sulit" and the desserts/pastries are very good too! Did I mention that their dishes each cost about Php250-350 only? Nice! :D Lastly, they also have a "Party Pack" or "Christmas Specials" menu! Available for Take-out and Pick-up, their big orders are perfect for special occasions or get-togethers with family and friends. My dad ALWAYS orders their Paella and Chicken Galantina! I also recommend their Roast Beef. Super delicious dishes! Saves you time and energy come Noche Buena! :D

The sports complex may be known for its Olympic size pool, once the hallowed training ground of the members of the Philippine Team. What most don't know is that there are actually three pools side by side in the pool area: a small diving pool, 16-feet deep, if I remember correctly, where our Olympics contenders have tested their mettle; and a regular pool, half of the Olympic-size, four-feet deep, where swimming classes for kids and students are often held. It was in the latter pool were I was taught to swim. We were already working then, but my friend (the one who cajoled a.k.a. coerced me into taking lessons with her) and I persevered through learning how to kick, using a kickboard, mastering the freestyle breath, and enduring humiliation from the kids in the water with us. We used to just pay Php 60 to get in and use the pool for the whole day. (We paid a different rate to the instructor. The guards and staff at the sports complex recommend contacts for those who want to learn.) Sadly, the pools were declared closed to the public a few years back. One can still swim with their accedited instructors' supervision, though, or with a special permit from management (which may be requested).
