It started out well enough; the messages, music and atmosphere were great, but I didn't meet anyone and no one tried to get to know me either. That didn't bother me at first, after all I hadn't joined any groups or done any volunteering. Eventually, after a year I thought I would like to know SOMEONE at that church so I signed up for a life group. Well, I never got any response from the groups I tried contacting and had to give it up. Fast forward a year and I was seriously dating someone, who enjoyed the services with me enough to push me to try life groups again so I tried the right way and attended the big "life group meet" after church as was instructed during the service. We signed up for 3 different groups and wouldn't you know it. NONE of them emailed or called. We took it upon ourselves and tried emailing, we tried calling, we left messages. Yep, no response. This point I'm feeling done. I gave this church three stars because the sermons are really actually good and I liked the music. The church community/body however, is another matter and honestly, that is arguably the most important part of a church. *Update: we are going back, at the request of my daughter. I don't expect to be accepted into the community, but we should enjoy the sermon..

I haven't been to church since I was 12 and my grandmother made me go. As an adult, I kind of…read morewanted to go but there were a few reasons that I didnt. I cant afford a lot of dressy clothes. I have a ton of tattoos. (Some not too church friendly) And, I hear church people can be the most judgmental people on the Earth. I stumbled upon the pastor of this church by chance, and he invited us to go. Still hesitant, after a few months pass, one day I went and we have been every Sunday since. They have been nothing but great. Everyone has been welcoming. People that dont recognize my face come over and introduce themselves to me and say they hope to see me again. I havent felt one evil stare at my tattoos. My kids love it!! They have get togethers for the kids beyond Sunday classes which are extra special to my kids with the lack of family we have. Men and Women teachers for positive role models of both sexes. I can go on and on. This was definitely a good choice as a church, and I wish I would have made to choice to go back sooner. Fear was holding me back for nothing. I highly recommend!!!!!

While I agree with this statement, and the "we have no creed but Christ" mentality of the Restoration movement, I must speak on something that the Bible is silent on. I am talking, of course, about Casting Crowns. Today my faith was rewarded. The pastor at Leclaire Christian Church mentioned the legendary rock group Casting Crowns in his sermon. While most hip and modern mega churches pander to the youths by playing the latest Hillsong or Bethel "worship" music, it's good to see that some people still respect true Christian music. Don't let the 5 star review fool you (only Jesus is perfect), this church still has a long way to go. It would be a true blessing if they started playing Casting Crowns and not merely referencing them. I get the sense, however, that the lead pastor would like to do this, but he is probably getting pushback (the enemy at work, no doubt). If you want to visit a kind and loving church that also has a rare respect for the world's greatest Christian rock group, Casting Crowns, then look no further. While the rest of the country is asking Oprah what to do, it appears the LCC is listening to the voice of Truth.

The pastor is excellent - the messages are rooted in Biblical truth but also applicable to life today. It's a smaller church and easy to meet people if you try to get involved. I like how much this church tries to be the hands and feet of Jesus outside of the church walls, supporting both local needs and missionaries. The church also does "serve days," where families go out and volunteer at local nursing homes and nonprofits.

This is definitely a family oriented atmosphere that features, Christmas decorations, fun, pony rides, kettle, corn, and so much more. So, we went downstairs to the Mosaic Museum which was quite interesting. It has numerous displays illustrating how the mosaics were done and offering details on the architecture and construction of the basilica. When we got back upstairs, there was a guided tour just ready to depart. We joined the tour which was being led by an excellent tour guide. The lady leading the tour was excellent and extremely knowledgeable about the cathedral. She explained the significance of the various mosaics and their thematic content. The tour lasted about an hour and I would highly recommend taking the guided tour. This is definitely a must-see site if you're in St Louis.

The Cathedral Basilica is hands down one of the BEST hidden gems in STL!! I've been here 3 times so…read morefar and no matter how many times I go I am always in awe of the beauty, artistry, and craftsmanship that has gone into building this elaborate and ornate cathedral. From the moment I walked in the cathedral I was blown away by the design of the interiors, which is completely covered by mosaic tiles. I've taken the guided tour twice while going and the tour was really insightful in learning more about the history and construction of the cathedral. The tour guides that I've had both times were really knowledgeable about everything dealing with the construction of the Basilica as well as its history as a catholic church. They provide several tours per day, usually when mass is not going on, and they typically last 1-2 hours. There is also a free museum downstairs that discusses the history and construction of the cathedral. The museum is not as mind-blowing as the cathedral itself but it is informative.
