Food is just the best. I recommend trying their waffles. The food was hot and so was the syrup. The owner told me a special way to do the syrup. It was (at home version) microwave your syrup and add a bit of hot sauce. The restaurant way was to take the thin bottle of hot sauce and add three drops. The syrup already comes hot so that makes it easier. The ambiance is like a old fashion diner. They have the old types of chairs and the tables to fit them. The colors are nice too. read more

I came in alone on Sunday March 10. I was told it would be a 15 minute wait. I watched the hosts change places twice. I watched family after family come in and be seated as I waited. 40 minutes in, I asked the latest host when I might be seated. they said they had to wait for a section to clear out for my party ... of 11. As a breakfast-lover, I was excited to swing by and have breakfast for dinner! When I arrived with a friend, we were seated quickly. However, our server was not exactly as excited to see us. I ended up ordering The Bissell Breakfast with pancakes, toast, scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, and hash browns. The food was great, I especially enjoyed the pancakes and turkey sausage. First time eating here which myself and friend we wanted a good breakfast, my niece who I was with wanted lunch and we both got exactly what we wanted. I had read reviews from yelp before I even went and everyone kept talking about the croissant french toast so I had to try it. One thing I appreciated it was a solo on the menu and when I ordered a d was adding my side of bacon, eggs the server told me they did have a breakfast special with the french toast....thanks. it was truly delicious and I enjoyed every bite. My niece decided on a chicken sandwich with fries and omg the breast was so big she could have gotten another bun and had two sandwiches. It was battered and fried to a perfect crisp...couldn't believe just how good it looked, she really enjoyed it and could not even eat all of it. Overall I loved the food, our server was very nice and came back after he placed our food to make sure everything was fine and although I was out of town I will try the one locally to see if they live up to this location. read more

We love everything At Metro diner! We first ate at a Metro Diner in Gainesville, Florida and loved it, so now that we moved to Huntsville we go to this one regularly. We mostly get burgers, chicken sandwiches, kids chicken tenders, and fried chicken dinner and it's all excellent. Fried chicken is some of the best around. All the sides we got are tasty. Portions are huge, our 2 kids couldn't finish 1 kids portion of tenders. We've only done takeout because of covid, wish there was outdoor seating. Only complaints are that wait times for pickup were sometimes on the long side and the online order system charges a fee which I would rather give as a tip and order by phone. read more

Saturday, Feb 29, 2020 visit. 8:15pm. Terrible experience. Was seated and waited for a waitress at least 10-15 minutes. When she finally came, she took our drink orders. Long wait again. Then she brought our drinks and took our orders. Ordering took forever like she was entering in nuclear launch codes into her tablet. My first sip of my Diet Coke, and I thought I tasted chocolate, but I had a piece of chocolate before leaving home and thought that might the cause. I didn't notice it after that sip. Our food waited in the window for a long while before being brought to us, only to be told that the appetizer that we ordered didn't make it into the system. The appetizer we ordered is literally the first item on the menu, and somehow the magic tablet lost it after entering in the Emancipation Proclamation into it. Back to the Diet Coke... The restaurant is dimly lit, so I didn't notice it. My wife pointed out to me after I had downed the whole thing that my cup looked foggy when I held it up. Yes...it had a milky residue all in it! The cup wasn't scratched as some do...this would wipe off with your fingertip easily. SO NASTY!! What have I put in my stomach?? The picture doesn't do it justice. Just think of a cup that once had a milkshake in it, then was refilled with soda without cleaning. I almost became sick on the spot just from this discovery. When I mentioned it to the waitress she "made sure it wasn't on my bill"...which the magic tablet somehow didn't have it recorded anyway. She brought me a to-go cup and said "I assure you this one is clean." That doesn't fix what I just consumed. Ridiculous...taking the drink off my bill is not enough. No manager in sight. Gave up and walked out. I spent over $40 for two people, which is rather expensive. I expect good food, but require cleanliness. This was inexcusable and disgusting. Stay away! read more

This visit is my 5th or 6th dining experience at Metro Diner since they opened. Overall my experience has been positive, but with some variance on service. My visit on 12/7 was fantastic. The service and food were excellent. I tried their chicken parmesan, which is a new menu item. The plate contained two large chicken breasts, two slices of garlic toast, and a large side of spaghetti. There was so much food that the big plate was too small!!! The chicken had a wonderfully seasoned breading and was so tender, OMG! I've been to some high end italian restaurants and don't recall eating chicken this tender. When I took my last bite I was disappointed...that there wasn't more to eat. I was stuffed, the portion size was huge, but I didn't want it to end. I have had two meals here, first was lunch and the second was breakfast. The lunch we had here was great. I had the bbq/Mac and cheese with waffles. Very different and interesting. The service for our lunch meal was good, about what you would expect at a diner. For breakfast I had the croissant French toast meal with eggs, hash browns, sausage and a biscuit. The French toast was awesome! The hash browns were warm and tasted good. My eggs had been sitting a while and my biscuit was very dry --so much so that the jelly couldn't save it. Service was absolutely terrible this visit (I've removed the details to shorten this review). The food was still good, but I think would've been better if our server would have gotten it to us when it was ready --- Our third visit was for breakfast and was great. Both the service and food were wonderful. I had the Croissant French Toast again and it was great. The new item we tried this week was the hot chocolate....look at the picture and tell me it doesn't make you want one! And yes, it tasted as good as it looked! I've raised my rating from 3 to 5 stars because while the service was terrible on one visit out of 3 the food has always made us want to come back to see what unique or delicious item we can try next. read more

I went into Metro dinner the other day for lunch. They are located adjacent to Outback and in front of Khols on Highway 72. They were fairly busy so we had to wait about 15-20 minutes for a table which was expected with the large amounts of people who have been going in to try this new diner. As we waited I looked around taking in the ambiance and the great design of this modern day diner that still holds the classic look. After being seated our waitress came and took our drink order and came back quickly. After looking over their extensive breakfast, lunch, and special selections on the menu I decided on the fried chicken and waffles. We waited a little bit, but it did not seem unreasonably long for the rush, when our server came over and explained to us that our order was never sent to the kitchen Because of a malfunction with there technology that they take orders on. She apologized and said our order was top priority and only a few minutes after coming and talking to us our food comes out. Our waitress comes over again and apologizes for the problems with our order and said that wait was unusual even though with the malfunction we only waited about 15-20 minutes with a packed full restaurant which I see as reasonable. Now for the meal it's self the fried chicken and waffles I ordered was amazing. Now I had never ordered chicken and waffles as a combo before but I have had a lot of fried chicken. The fried chicken that they are serving at Metro Dinner is some of the juiciest, crispiest, and down right most delicious fried chicken I have ever had. The breeding on it was not to thick but still good. The chicken had great flavor and was just all around cooked to perfection. The waffles I'd say were above average. The waffles came with a maple syrup that was mixed with a hot sauce and I didn't really care for it. The best thing to put on the waffles was the strawberry spread it came with which made them very good. The service we received from our waitress during our visit was superb. She was very attentive and was always aware of what was going on. I did not catch her name but she was excellent. The owner even came over and talked to us after our meal and apologized for the malfunction and said the meal was on him today which was nice but I didn't mind paying. These things happen but it's still nice to see an owner who placed so much value on his restaurant that even a malfunction that was out of there power was unacceptable. It's a good sign for things to come for this new location as far as keeping quality and service at its peak. Overall my visit to Metro Diner was amazing. The food was top class, the service was amazing, and the management are doing there job above and beyond to deliver quality. I can not wait for my next visit. read more

Breakfast all day long is an instant sell for my kids, so the question is, can they hook the grown-ups too? Answer, yep. I really respect an establishment that can nail the simple things: fried fish, scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes. Get those those right and then I'm looking forward to the fancier items: crab cakes Benedict, meatloaf. We tried them all and everyone left full and happy. Service was excellent. Here's a revelation: ALL the servers in the house were keeping eyes on ALL the guests not just their own. It made all the hiccups along the way so much easier to accept and have patience for. The host told us it will be a 35 to 45 minute wait turned out to be 20 minute wait. Our waitress was friendly. The greatest offense was their fried chicken smh. It smelled wonderful, looked amazing, and it was half a bird that you get, breast, wing, leg, and thigh. Menu says with a sweet spicy sauce comes with the meal, our waitress prepared table side maple syrup and several dashes of hot sauce for dipping and that's it (I could do that at home). Now once you start eating the waffles with strawberry butter is AMAZING!!! They did an epic fail on the chicken by taking it out of the fryer and place on your plate. I have never tasted and seen that much grease on a chicken smh. And to be quite honest the chicken is barely at the stage of being done. It could have gone another 30 to 45 more seconds in the fryer and properly drained/rested before arriving to my table. I am willing to give them another chance and try something different to see if they get better. But I think that I will wait a couple of months before I will go back. read more

I have ordered twice from here I had the all meat omelette and the eggs were fluffy and the filling was nice with a side of hashbrowns which were browned nice and crispy. Then last night I had the fish and chips that is a real challenge on takeout but the fish was crispy and plenty of it the fries got a little soggy but that's no fault of their's it's only because it was takeout and the steam was in the packaging a nice beautiful side salad instead of the coleslaw was a plus. Today was an amazing visit to metro! Staff was on point and food was incredible! The hostess checked to make sure a table that was open was being serviced, great foresight for such a busy pre-lunch rush! I can see why this place is usually packed with a wait until 1 pm. If you are lucky enough to come in a day that the roasted corn chowder is available get in fast and get a bowl! It is incredible! My daughter had the kids chicken and waffles and finished the chowder and was as happy as can be! I had the shrimp and grits and I'm not generally a grits fan- I'm sold!
