Mezcal Express is a delightful treat right in my neighborhood. I'm was so excited to try them! My friend and I met for lunch on Saturday around 12:30/12:45pm. It was not busy and service was speedy! You order and pay at the counter then they bring your food to your table when it's ready. My friend ordered a bowl and a glass bottle of Sprite. I got the asada fries and a chicken street taco. Both were delicious and flavorful! The fries are easily big enough to split. The guacamole had big flavor as did the asada and chicken. I loved the horchata Agua Fresca! It was light, not overly sweet, and have some great holiday vibes to it (cinnamon and such). It would be refreshing any time of the year though! We both left full and happy for sure. Staff was helpful, kind, and friendly. Parking is easy overall, prices are reasonable, and the food/drink options were plentiful. We will definitely be back! Thank you!

I've been twice in the past month and have loved everything I've tried! This is a bit like fast casual. You order at the counter, find a seat and they'll bring the food out to you. For the prices, I'd like to see real silverware. That's probably my only gripe. The plastic stuff doesn't go with the overall feel of the place and is flimsy. They have birria ramen, which my husband was so excited to try! I have ordered the bowl twice, and both times, they were awesome about leaving off or putting on the side some items I don't eat. My husband put my side of pico in the ramen and said it made it even better, especially because it had a good amount of lime in it. They use fresh-carved corn for the bowls, too. I've never been to a restaurant that does that, it was sooo good. I hope they can keep that up even when it's out of season. Rice and beans are delicious. Jacob got the birria tacos on a second visit and they are LOADED with meat. For $4 a pop, you're really getting your money's worth. Overall, portion sizes are great and high quality. Usually at Mexican restaurants, you get one or the other. My husband had gotten two of the agua frescas, which are pretty pricey at $6 each but he liked them both (pineapple mango, very light and refreshing and hibiscus, which was a touch sweet for his liking.) They have an entire wall of drinks to choose from. With as much cooler space as they have, I'd like to see something like Cherry Pepsi or Cherry Coke and maybe a couple more sugar-free options for those who can't have or don't prefer sugar. There are two single-stall bathrooms that appear to be handicap accessible, but I didn't use either so I can't confirm. The space was recently renovated so I imagine it had to be brought up to current ADA standards. Service has been quick and extremely friendly both times we've stopped in. It was even fast enough for an hour lunch break. This is definitely a place we'll be frequenting. (For anyone reading, it's completely halal. No pork and no alcohol. Their proteins are from Saad Meats.)

The steak and chicken tacos were flavorful. The had nice size meat portions. A little pricey but good.

This place is an exciting addition to downtown Dearborn- authentic Mexican right downtown! There is plenty of seating inside this jewel toned, colorful cafeteria. It's bright and spacious inside unlike the experience at traditional Mexican restaurants, which tend to be darker and feature more booths. I guess that's what makes this Mexican "express." The employees were super helpful, offering us physical menus for easier viewing than the mounted menus. Staff went over their recommendations, and we went with their specialty- Birria tacos- with all the toppings. Deeelicious! The meat was flavorful and moist on its own, the dip being just a bonus. The flavor on the chicken tacos was good, although I'd say the meat was a little dry. As for elote? Can't go wrong with elote. I think I would've liked a little more tajin and a slightly larger portion, but it was satisfying enough. We splurged and got dessert- the flan was amazing. It is rich and dense, more like a cheesecake than others I've had. Worth the calories- Go here!

Taco's were well made, with double corn tortillas, packed full of meat , no skimping here, and just cilantro and onions. Definately very authentic Mexican style taco's and not the Americanized versions you find throughout the area. My only qualm, which was minor, was that the meat was lacking the seasoning I like when in Mexico which gives the flavor pop that I personally like. I took care of this with some salt and pepper along with salsa to tune the taco to my personal taste. Relative to the Salsa, there was a walk up Salsa bar with multiple Salsa's to select from which I truly liked and reminded me of one of my favorite Taco Joints in Puerto Vallarta, Taco's Revolution. These salsa bars, are quite convenient and act as a "Fixing bar" that allows you to tailor the taco to your personal taste. I have not seen this before in this area and wished more businesses did it. They also need to add the cucumbers (dont knock it till you try it) and some onions as well to complete the fixing bar. (: Food comes with gratis nicely mildly seasoned chips which I really liked. The seasoning is more than just salt, quite tasty and unique to this business, Very nice! Relative to the facility and staff, the restaurant is a no frills operation and has a relatively small footprint with a limited number of tables which is probably something to keep in mind during peak dining hours. Clearly they let the food do the talking here. Staff is very friendly with prompt service and good follow up throughout. Overall a very good Mexican restaurant as reflected in the good Yelp reviews. The quality of the food and at the price point it is being sold at make this a must try if you are a fan of good Mexican food, in particular Street Taco's.

I missed it the first time, but they do have a stand with a big M. They have a pretty good selection of liquor and pretty $$$. In order to see the prices of each item, you gotta scan the qr code which is on the top right corner of the menu. The food was pretty good but on the pricer end. Which I totally get, with how the service is! We got an appetizer, a few dishes to split and a dessert. By the time we finished the main dishes, the waitress took all the plates and brought us new silverware for the delicious churro and ice cream. I absolutely love that they have many different kinds of salsa and oh my goodness, the chips (although a bit oily) was pretty good! You can definitely tell they make their chips in house.

She's also an elite reviewer and I wanted to show off my newly beloved hidden gem. However, maybe lunch is just not a good time to go. When we walked in my cousin was told she's not allowed to take pictures inside the restaurant so you can't see the ambiance. This was the first time I was ever told that. But, later we asked if we could take pictures of the food and we were told yes. So not the biggest deal but something to note for other reviewers. So, the tortillas from the chicken tacos were cold. The waitress kept coming back and lingering to take our order, and rush us out. She even made the comment "you guys are slow eaters." It felt very uncomfortable. We usually like to go to lunch we order appetizers (ceviche and soup), then an entree (tacos). Usually we get dessert and drinks but due to the waitress we decided to skip on these and just leave. We were sat upstairs so I guess she didn't like to keep going up and down. However no one else was dining in at the time so I'm not sure what the rush was. The waitress even made the comment that she was the owners sister in law. She came up to me and asked me if I was his neighbor and stated my last name and asked if I was related to another restaurant owner. She took my phone number at the beginning, I'm not sure why there was no wait. So I am unsure if that's how she got my name because I didn't give it to her. Which was just uneasy to me. Again I loved the dinner the other night. So I don't want to say never go. These are just my thoughts so yall can know what you are getting into.

After looking at the other reviews I have to wonder about what happened to my experience?…read more I arrived on a Monday around 6:30 pm and there was only one other table in the entire restaurant of three people who were getting ready to leave. As I walked to the counter I noticed that behind the counter there were nacho chips in baskets stacked on top of each other under a light ready to be served to tables. Yuk! I was told I could sit anywhere so I was looking for a seat away from the a/c vents because it was so cold inside that I was glad I had my jacket. As I sat looking at the menu I started to put on my hood due to how cold it was but barreled through without covering up. I did not complain just ordered my food. I was helped by a server but don't recall him telling me his name but I can tell he may have been helping take out customers while attempting to serve the only table of 1 in the entire restaurant, me. Ask I got my chips I noticed dried sauce on the basket and not any type of separation from my chips. Yuk. My food came out quick but unfortunately I ordered a water and never got it. Glad I had my own with me. The food was good and fresh. As I came to the front to cash out I asked for receipt and was told that they could not give out receipts because their register cannot make copies but I could take a picture. This seemed like the norm in how they handle transactions but unfortunately is not a good way to go for me. And this is where I decided I would not be back. As i took the picture of the receipt I asked why is the name on the receipt (El Herradero) was different than the name on the building Burrito Loco? The person working who was also the person serving me said he did not know. What he didn't know is that I was looking for the restaurant El Herradero and my gps took me here so I assume they either changed the name or went out of business. Either way, unfortunately my experience here was not that great due to the service but most of all I cannot even get my own receipt for my own purposes? Wow. That's a first!
