The chicken kebab was the standout for me; it was incredibly tender and had that perfect open-flame char that you just can't replicate at home. * Baba Ghanoush: This was a smoky revelation. It's easily some of the best in the area. * Tabouleh: So many places use too much bulgur, but Mezzaterranean does it right. It was a bright, herbaceous explosion of fresh parsley and lemon that cut through the richness of the grilled meats perfectly. * The Extras: It all comes together with their fluffy rice and warm pita. Pro tip: use the pita to make little "mini-tacos" with a piece of chicken, a dollop of baba ghannouj, and a pinch of tabouleh. The Verdict: The portions on the Trio Plate are massive (definitely enough to share, though you might not want to). Everything tasted fresh, vibrant, and authentic. Came home for Christmas and I'm so used to the amazing Mediterranean food we have in the Bay Area, but I decided to give it a try. So worth it! Friday night dinner at Mezzaterranean...SO YUMMY! I didn't wanna cook Friday night after work, so when my husband suggested we go to Mezzaterranean I said YES PLEASE and THANK YOU! We ordered the cheesy rolls to share, and I had the chicken kebab plate and he had the lamb kebab plate. Both plates were served with lots of rice, salad, hummus and pita bread. Everything is cooked to order, so expect a little wait for your food. Everything is so good though, and totally worth the short wait. This was hands down the worst Mediterranean food any of us have ever had. The restaurant itself was dirty -- the tables were sticky like they hadn't been cleaned in days. The food quality was abysmal. I wouldn't even call this Mediterranean; I don't believe the cuisine could ever taste this bad. The chicken shawarma was essentially chicken curry -- it didn't taste grilled at all. The bread was served straight out of a plastic packet, and to our shock, the baklava was brought in from outside before being served. We were so hungry, but even then, most of us could barely finish our meals. To top it off, the prices aren't cheap -- I've had far better Mediterranean food at lower or similar prices. The hummus is super flavorful, you can tell it's made fresh. The pickled turnips and pepperoncinis are a nice touch to complement the meal and cleanse your palette. I usually get their beef shawarma and hummus plate but today I decided to try their chicken shawarma and it was absolutely delicious--not dry at all and very flavorful. Great little hidden gem. Stopped by for lunch right as they opened and service was quick and courteous. The gentleman behind the counter was very kind and patient as I looked over the menu.
