Purchased Mezzaterranean for lunch a few days ago for take-out and wondering if I went on an off day or not. Kefta Kebab Plate ($17.99): Two small ground beef kebabs served on a bed of rice with a side of hummus, Mezzaterranean salad, and pita bread. One of our kefta orders was fairly burnt so we had to spend time shaving off the burnt bits. The meat was a tad dry and needed the garlic dip to help enhance the flavors. Purchased a side of beef shawarma on the side with the same dry-ish flavors and not very tender. Hummus and tzatziki were standard. Perhaps I need to give this place another try, but even portions were just okay compared to other Mediterranean eateries at the same price point.

Chicken Kebab Plate is great!

Interesting place, unassuming when you pull in, looks pretty inside! This place has not made up its mind yet, is is a fast food place or a restaurant? We ordered at the bar and sat down. Food came in waves, nothing special, but flavors was great, some came on plastic plates and some on porcelain, there is certainly a lot to improve but the food was great!

$18 for a chicken kebab. It didn't come with the garlic paste. It had a literal salad no pickled veggies. The chicken was ok the whole plate was ok. It was lunch for my birthday I love Mediterranean food this place is literally down the street from me so I sent my husband to get me food from here but next time I rather send him to oasis grill in Covina. It's affordable and they send the works in their plates

Met a girlfriend here for lunch yesterday. We couldn't figure out what we wanted to eat, so I looked on yelp as we both like Mediterranean food. I'm so glad I found this place! We both ordered the Chicken Kebab Plate. OMG!! Everything was incredible! The chicken was juicy and tender, the rice was delicious, the hummus was incredible, and the salad was great. The pita bread was really good. It wasn't soft and thick like I'm used to. It was thinner and tasted homemade. The man who took our order (might have been the owner) was very nice. He told us to ask for more pita bread when we were ready, as they don't like it to get cold. Of course, we did ask for more pita bread. I can't wait to go back and try something else. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area and craving Mediterranean food!

Order counter. Ring bell, if no one's there.

First visit and left very disappointed. I was meeting my wife for lunch and arrived about 5 minutes ahead of her. There was a chime on the front door, so the staff should have been alerted to my entrance. I stood by the order counter and took a couple photos for this review, then sat down at a table directly in front of the counter/cash register. No one came out to greet me or ask me if I was ready to order. Once my wife arrived, we stood there looking at the menu, then finally had to ring a bell to get someone to come out of the back and wait on us. The menu boards have no prices, so we had to look at a "to go" menu to figure out what was what. The staff was not very friendly, and later we saw a woman who was sitting at one of the tables, with a friend, get up and go behind the counter and take someone else's order. Was she an employee/management and just ignored us when we came in? FOOD: My wife initially tried to order the Beef Kebab Plate ($17.99), and was told they were out of beef (and this was at noon, lunchtime). She ended up getting the Lamb Kebab Plate ($20.99), and I ordered the Chicken Kebab Plate ($15.99), and two cans of soda. Both kebab plates were served with rice, hummus, Mezzaterranean salad, and warm pita bread. We waited 30 minutes from ordering to delivery at our table. There was only one other couple who had ordered before we arrived and were waiting on their food. A man came in after us, and received his food about 10 minutes before us. We had also ordered a "to go" item, the Feta Cheese Cold Mezza ($9.99), which was served with sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, and drizzled with olive oil. Both kebabs were a little on the dry side, and not too flavorful, but we did enjoy the fetta cheese mezza later that evening. Unfortunately, I don't think we'd visit again, as it wasn't a very good experience, and the food was mediocre at best. It's too bad, as we were looking forward to a new, local Mediterranean eatery.

Falafel Sandwich & 16 oz. Lentil Soup

What a fantastic place to eat. In a small strip mall but a large space. The service was friendly and accommodating. Made sure we were satisfied and offered extras. My coworker and I both had lentil soup that tasted amazing with plenty of ingredients that was not skimpy. Served extra fresh and hot. The sandwich was top tier with plenty of ingredients to make it full and satisfying. The falafels inside were vegan which had a nice crispy not too fluffy. Offered us hot sauce and wow that was perfect amount of heat. You can really taste the ingredients in the food which is very refreshing not to have sauce cover the flavor. Both my coworker and I walked away knowing this place was a gem! Thank you Mezzaterranean. Defiantly gained a new customer.

The chicken was so juicy and tasty! Came here for a team lunch and we were treated with the utmost care.

Attended a meeting where we ordered from Mezzaterranean, and it was served fresh, and delicious. I had the chicken kebab plate with rice pilaf, hummus and salad. All very tasty. I cannot comment about the restaurant or staff as we did not eat in house (hence 4 stars vs. 5), but the food is high quality. Looking forward to trying more stuff on the menu.

$27.50 for this is insane. The piece of salmon is the width of my finger and the size of my palm.

Freshly made Lebanese food, nice decor, and atmosphere. Impeccable and warm service. Just like mama's.

If you're looking for the definitive Lebanese experience in the IE, this is the order to beat. The Breakdown: * The Trio Grill: You get a sampling of everything--chicken, beef, and kefta kebabs. The chicken kebab was the standout for me; it was incredibly tender and had that perfect open-flame char that you just can't replicate at home. * Baba Ghanoush: This was a smoky revelation. You can taste the fire-roasted eggplant in every bite, and the texture was perfectly whipped and creamy without losing its soul. It's easily some of the best in the area. * Tabouleh: So many places use too much bulgur, but Mezzaterranean does it right. It was a bright, herbaceous explosion of fresh parsley and lemon that cut through the richness of the grilled meats perfectly. * The Extras: It all comes together with their fluffy rice and warm pita. Pro tip: use the pita to make little "mini-tacos" with a piece of chicken, a dollop of baba ghannouj, and a pinch of tabouleh. The Verdict: The portions on the Trio Plate are massive (definitely enough to share, though you might not want to). Everything tasted fresh, vibrant, and authentic. It's clear this family-run spot puts a lot of heart into their recipes. 10/10, will be back for more of that garlic sauce!

We each ordered the chicken kabobs (called something else on the menu). It came with 2 sides and we each ordered the tabouli and rice. I also ordered tzatziki and they served us 2 good sized pieces of freshly made pita. The chicken was marinated and grilled perfectly. I usually eat 1/2 and take home the rest. I ate every bite. We both enjoyed our choices. I'm not a big garlic sauce person, but my friend loved it and cleaned her serving cup. Our waitress gave each of us a baklava finger, for dessert. No charge. We received excellent service, from the hostess to the waitress. They also have 2 bakery counters so my friend ordered some baklava fingers to go and plans on returning to try some more goodies. Overall, we had a 2 hour catch up lunch and a really tasty meal, without being rushed. I will be back.

I particularly love their hot appetizer plate that includes the cheese rolls and kibbeh. Unfortunately their service and dining experience recently has made me question if I'll be back again. Their space is very small so a table for 6 people is really uncomfortable. On top of that, their serving dishes are massive and the service staff is unaware how to put the dishes on the table because the table is so small. There were only 2 people waiting tables which caused for a lot of frustration from the staff. They also rarely stopped by our table to clear out plates which again we needed some plates gone because tables were so small. Recommendation, more people need to work at the front and y'all need bigger tables. A $330 meal (which included $50 service charge) where the service was rough was not worth.

Ambiance (5/5): Although we didn't sit inside, it was super cute, with classy boho vibes. The restroom was clean and well-decorated (although, not gonna lie, I don't know how I felt about the big mirror facing the toilet). The outside patio area was airy, and although right by the street, I didn't find it unpleasant. Service (3/5): It was just so-so. They sat us down quickly, gave us our menus and checked on us maybe twice. It wasn't super busy, but we had to wait to ask for things like extra plates and water for our dog. Food Overall (5/5): Food was delicious. We got the beef shawarma lunch special and got fries for the side (extra charge) and also the chicken shawarma lunch special with the hummus side. Beef Shawarma (4/5): It had a nice toasty flavor, perhaps from the spices, and the pickled veggies really complemented it. My only complaint was that I wish it had a bit more of the white sauce (maybe adding more hummus would have helped). It was also strangely a bit watery, maybe from the veggies. Overall, it was still a yummy wrap. Chicken Shawarma (5/5): The chicken shawarma tasted more balanced to me overall. I don't recall the meat being dry, although I did also slather it with a bit of hummus. I thoroughly enjoyed this wrap. Fries side (5/5): Their fries are made in house and it tastes so fresh. It was crispy on the outside yet still gooey and moist on the inside. I'm not sure if they make their own ketchup too, as it looked clumpier and tasted really fresh too. The kids gobbled this up. Hummus and pita (5/5): It came with a generous amount of both hummus and pita. The hummus was well flavored and blended, and it really complemented everything on the table. The pocket pita bread was not what I had in mind (I'm used to thicker ones), but the kids really loved it overall. Ice cream (4.5/5): We ordered two scoops from the dessert menu. They were both really thick, creamy and almost chewy like liquidized mochi. It was a very interesting texture but nonetheless a nice tasty treat on a hot day. I much preferred the vanilla bean, as the pistachio tasted and looked rather artificial (and I'm a pistachio ice cream lover). This place had so many to-go orders during the afternoon we were there. I can see why. Food is super fresh and tasty. I think we will be back the next time we are visiting.

Having…read moreeaten at hundreds of Lebanese restaurants across multiple states--and traveling back to Beirut once a year--I have a very high bar for authenticity. My wife is also very familiar with the cuisine and cooks many of these traditional dishes herself. Last night, we tried BEI in Costa Mesa, and we are both absolutely thrilled to have found it. The hospitality here is amazing. Tommy gave us a warm greeting right as we walked in, and it was a pleasure chatting with him all evening. Our waiter, George, was equally amazing. He isn't Lebanese himself, but he jokingly told us that he is becoming Lebanese more and more every day just from eating the food here! He knew the menu inside and out, guiding us through the options and sharing his personal favorite plates with real passion. As for the food, my wife and I completely agreed that the chicken shawarma was easily the best I have ever had anywhere in the United States. It fully equals what you would eat at a high-quality restaurant in Lebanon. The toum (garlic spread), which is an absolute must for the chicken, was unbelievable. The hummus, baba ganoush, batata harra (spicy potatoes), and the fattoush salad were all absolutely amazing and perfectly seasoned. We finished the evening with an incredible knefeh for dessert. Even the hookah was great--smooth, well-prepared, and the perfect addition to the evening. They have a DJ on Fridays and a belly dancer on Saturdays, giving the space an awesome weekend energy. If you want genuine Lebanese cuisine paired with true Middle Eastern hospitality, BEI is a must-visit. We will certainly be back every time I am in town!
