I've been going to Mi Casita for so many years.. Like 30 years.. Every time I visit and stay in Isla Verde I'd make it a thing to eat there. The food is good and serves it s purpose. My last meal before my departure was good. I had the or hugs de pollo with rice, beans, Mofongo and Tostones.. the Chicken was good. Nice flavor.. Mofongo was good as well.. Rice worked too.. Hard to mess that up.. The tostones were a bit soft.. I personally like mine a lil crispy.. a bit thinner/flatter but they were cool.. service was on point as usual. Very nice staff. Went to Mi Casita for breakfast as it's within walking distance of our Airbnb. We were greeted by the owner and told to sit anywhere. Our waiter came and took our drink order and brought them out promptly. I ordered the Breakfast Special with bacon. M daughter asked for her eggs over medium with bacon. She didn't get her bacon, but they didn't charge her for it and her eggs came out over easy. We also ordered a mushroom omelet and a western omelet. Another couple came in and ordered after us and received their food before us. We are use to island time and we're on vacation so didn't make a big deal about it but it was noticeable. I've been coming here for the past 15 years, and it's always been fabulous. The monfongo is awesome, I always get the churrasco mofongo! Service has been quick and orderly, albeit if the restaurant is crowded(like it always is at peak times), the wait might be a bit much if you're not on island time. The sangria is great, and has the perfect sweetness without being overwhelming. Restaurant has not changed in 15 years, and the setting is what is to be expected. When we came to the door the manager said they were closed, but a waiter came over and said he would take care of us, so they let us in. Tried this place because I was curious and the last time I walked past it it was closing for the night. I was immediately seated by the staff and offered a physical menu in addition to the qr code on the table. As a lover of all thing Mofongo I ended up ordering the beef version and was pleased by both the affordability and portion size, usually you get either a small portion for and expensive price or rather bland versions for about the same. Glad to say that the flavor was enjoyable especially if you enjoy tomato and garlic and the meat was in abundance. I was in Puerto Rico with my significant other and we wanted to experience Puerto Rican food, so we chose this spot! We dined inside at a table. The place wasn't that big. We chose "criolla" sauce for the Beefsteak Mofongo and garlic sauce for the Chicken Mofongo. I felt I had to try the Mofongo and I was hopeful for the best! Our waiter brought out the salad with oil and vinegar. The plantains really stood out to me, but all of the ingredients on it teamed up to create an amazing salad! The oil and vinegar even tasted right on it! The Beefsteak Mofongo was good at first, but the taste did wear out a bit faster than I would have liked it to. The Chicken Mofongo was practically the same situation. I enjoyed it at first, but it became tiring towards the end. Regardless of that, Mofongo was still an interesting and enjoyable thing to try! I frequent this place a lot and i think because of covid it's went downhill. You're seated quickly , but it takes forever to get your food and drinks . Once you get your food the waiters are nonexistent at that point which is unfortunate . I ate chicken , rice and beans and plantains for lunch the chicken was okay , more dry.
