Ambience is standard mexican restaurant fair. Food was excellent I had the lunch chicken fajitas, very good blend of seasonings, wife had the chicken fajita salad that was very good. Daughter got beef tacos that she got a 5 out of 5. She also stated that the rice was very good. Service was quick on ordering and quick on preparation.

Our group sat at one of the larger tables (eight chairs) but felt as though a group of seven had never been served at this establishment before. Exceptionally slow service, meals prepared incorrectly, no silverware until asking (someone other than our server), and the list could continue. All of those things can be overcome by fantastic food. Unfortunately, average or below food didn't get that done. For context the dining area had empty tables and the wait staff were mostly standing idle or wandering. It didn't take long to realize why they weren't busy on a Friday evening. read more

Everytime I walk in around 8 - 8:30 pm they say they are closed, AND in a rude manor. This is third time this has happened. I guess they DO NOT want business and they've got a puffed up view of themselves. Everytime I have checked their website for hours. So, it's not me. read more

This place has amazing food! I travel alot, and this is top 3, Ever! In Kokomo, Indiana! Decor is very cool, beer was Ice Cold, Chips were warm and tasty, Salsa was "Muy Bien!" First dining out experience during Covid tunes. All staff we saw were wearing masks. Sat outside and there was only one other table occupied. Some of the tables inside were turned on their sides so they couldn't be used. Thought they did a good job with distancing. Chips and salsa were good. Husband had the quesadilla special mi Familia. Lots of goodies in it-shrimp, beef, chicken, chorizo, cheese, peppers, onions and tomatoes. He loved it. I had one of the triple combos. So much food I couldn't eat it all. I am very disappointed with our interactions with Mi Familia Restaurant and will be sure to never eat here again. We are getting married in two weeks and had arranged to have dinner here the night before with close friends and out of town guests. Originally they were great to work with, offering menu suggestions and telling us we could have the whole back room for our large party. We were told to call two weeks before and confirm our final number with them so that they knew how much food to prepare. Expecting to finalize plans for our party, we were instead told by the extremely rude manager on Thursday 6/1 that they "are too busy on Friday nights to give up that room." Now here we are, two weeks out scrambling to find another restaurant who can accommodate on short notice. They will definitely never see any more business from my family ever again. Would not recommend. read more

I found this spot because of good yelp reviews so i went in with high expectations. Fantastic is the food we got. The wife loved her chimichanga for like 8 bucks. The place looks great and all. Food is just okay. Asked for a Cafe con Leche and I was asked if I'd like creamer with it.... Umm yes, that would be the Leche part. Now I realize I might be a lil harsh on em, with the 4.5 stars per Yelp and I'm used to eating a variety of Latin food from South Florida... That being said I'll leave it at least a 3 since the staff is real friendly and the place is well maintained. But as far as the food goes, I couldn't go past 2. The guacamole tasted like something out of a package. The fajitas were okay at best. The coffee, I won't even go there. We offer delicious authentic Mexican Cuisine in the heart of Kokomo, Indiana. Some of our specialties include: Carne Asada, Sopa de Mariscos (Seafood Soup), Parilla for Two, Pollo con Pina(Pineapple Chicken), and many more mouthwatering dishes. We proudly offer a wide variety of dishes for all tastes. One of the reasons many of our customers choose us, is because we take a lot of pride in family values. We are a small family owned business where our clients are our top priority. Each client is important to us and are treated as family when dining at our restaurant.

History

Established in 2007.

Mi Familia formally opened our doors for business in December 2007. Over the years we have received several recognitions. In 2012, a local newspaper created a survey for Best Mexican Food, and we won! We received a license plate, which stated "Best Mexican Food" as an award for our acknowledgement. We look forward to continuous growth and recognition for many years to come.

Meet the Business Owner: Sonia I.

Hello, my name is Sonia. My family and I are the proud owners of this great establishment. Our experience in the restaurant industry began in 1997. My husband began learning how to cook. He would practice different recipes on us, and through his experience, he began a passion for cooking and the restaurant industry. He would notice through different experiences in Mexican Restaurants in the area, he felt they needed to have more of the true authentic taste of food from Mexico. He wanted to improve the taste and quality of dishes. It was around that time that one of the owners of the restaurant he was working in, gave him the opportunity to partner with him in developing a new restaurant. He could see the passion my husband had for cuisine, and it was thanks to that opportunity that we were Blessed with, that we were able to begin the journey of establishing our own business.

They feature some unique items on their menu, and everything I have ever tried has been delicious. My favorite is the veggie quesadilla, it is very different than the average quesadilla that is served at other Mexican restaurants. I always order the platter that comes with rice and beans, because both are excellent. The red sauce has heat but is very flavorful. I always order extra red sauce to take home. If you don't care for hot sauces but enjoy flavor you can mix a little sour cream into the red sauce to make it milder. Service is always friendly and helpful. Tortas Johann is the best reason to visit Kokomo!

We usually go to Dos Molinos when I'm in town so I was curious to try a different Mexican place. I tried calling them twice to ask a question about their taco menu but I got a busy tone. My FFIL got through and was able to place an order for takeout. I had a chicken quesadilla, which was large but just okay; a steak taco, which was HUGE and tasty but I wouldn't say traditional (it had cheese and no cilantro); and an Al Pastor taco which I haven't tried yet, because I was full. The rest of our party ordered Camarones a la Diabla (spicy shrimp) and fajitas, and everyone enjoyed them. The reason they get 4 stars from me is they included like two to three BAGS of tortilla chips and like six small portions of salsa for free, even though some of the salsa accidentally opened in the takeout bag. That's beyond generous. I will say we did order guacamole too and it was a teeny portion, but we had all the chips to go with it. My FMIL also said they seem to give larger portions with takeout vs in-restaurant, FYI. Overall I'd order from here again but Dos Molinos has more authentic tacos IMO. However, prices were good; entrees were about $12, my quesadilla was $5.50, and the a la carte tacos range from $1.99-$2.99 each.

The added bonus was the atmosphere, service, food and fun of Coterie Kokomo is a mid-sized city about an hour north of Indy. The venue is a local favorite for music and great burgers. They did not disappoint this out of town visitor! The staff was welcoming. The menu, while limited, had a great variety of sandwiches and salads. I chose the Coterie burger which is served with fries. It was fire . The music venue is next door to the primary bar and is full service for food and drinks. The drive-thru line of cars wrapped around the building, so I decided to go inside. The parking lot was almost full. The prices are incredibly reasonable with tenderloins 2/$8. The burgers look popular. I was excited to see a coffee flavored soft serve called Cappuccino. My medium size serving was huge in an old school cone for only $2.59. The ice cream was creamy and good. The cone itself was remarkably fresh. The service was friendly and quick. The staff was busy. The dining room is clean and modern. Most people grab and go. Cone Palace is a fun little local place and worth an ice cream stop.

Great food and even better service! Contrary to what the above viewer stated there are no complimentary soapillas (a desert), there is no Talapia on the menu, and this restaurant has no cantina ( a bar). They also don't have a license to sell hard alcohol, but don't let that stop you! The food is awesome, try the Para for Two Fajita platter, it has pork, shrimp, steak, chicken, and chorizo and it is great! There is plenty for two, and enough to take home and make breakfast tacos the next morning. read more

I came here to eat last Sunday. I loved the food. I ordered fajita grande and it was delicious. The only complain thats why i gave them 4 stars is that it took awhile for my order to arrive. I ate so much chips eating for my order that when my actual food arrived I'm already full. Overall service was great! read more
