Clean restaurant, great vibe with lights and music. Good service. Exceptionally flavorful carne asada.

more like a 3.5ish…read more we enjoyed our meal at Chido's. we went mid afternoon and it was busy considering the off hours. the chips and salsa were good (salsa a little runny, but tasty). we started with empanadas, which were really done well. the dipping sauce they came with was delicious - almost like a pickled or fermented sauce with herbs and finely diced onion. wasn't for my husband but i couldn't get enough of it! i had a combo plate, and got a beef enchilada and beef chile relleno. the relleno was flavorful (i LOVE cilantro) and the enchilada was done well. very cheese heavy, but that's never a bad thing in my book. expect VERY big portions. my husband found an eggshell in his rellenos, which was a bit of a disappointment. while i enjoyed mine, he indicated they weren't prepared as he expected. i found the flavors right, but i'm not usually very picky. our waitress was attentive and the atmosphere was relaxed and not too overwhelming (it's a big restaurant, this might be different at night with a full house). overall decent experience!

I didn't have much, but the table chips & salsa was good. We ended up sharing a pitcher of Cadillac Margarita ($63) and regular Mango Margarita ($50) since we were all getting marg's anyway. These were all more than enough to share between 4 people. The Mango was good, the Cadillac was strong! I ordered Shrimp Tacos ($16). I don't think they were on the menu, but they were provided. 3 Tacos with salsa, guacamole & lettuce on the side. It always came with a bowl of brown beans and yellow rice. Good. I was full after 1 taco. When it's someone's birthday, the staff comes out in almost like a full band. It was cute. We were all able to pay on separate checks. I and myself took on the full responsibility of purchasing the marg's for the group. Not sure if it was due to the size of our party, but gratuity was automatically added at 18% to my check.

It's a hole in the wall! But hole in the walls are sometimes gems! I was the only female customer at 6ish. Quite a few men in the restaurant. The ladies working there are super nice, and attentive. Let's Get Into It! Cheese Enchilada - Met expectations. The chili sauce is not spicy and they made that enchilada cheesy! Fajitas- Met expectations. I have had better fajitas honestly but these weren't bad. Price point: Very Inexpensive for the amount of food! Overall, the place is decent. It has a El Salvadoran menu and Mexican menu, which for me I'm not a fan of. The Mexican dishes were okay but their tortillas were more thick and El Salvadoran style. I wouldn't return as the food was just okay for my liking. There were loud men singing at the top of their lungs like they were on the Latin Voice and that was off putting. I get it, they are having fun, but it wasn't karaoke night and was disturbing. I left after two songs of the man singing, thankfully I was already done. Definitely worth a try though for others.

The Only Review You Need To Read…read more We decided to experiment with a new place to go for Mexican food today. There appeared to be a lot of businesses geared towards the Hispanic crowd along Kenilworth Avenue, so we stopped off at what looked like a good sized restaurant in a little strip plaza next to an international grocery store. We walked in the entrance, past the old cash register and TouchTunes digital jukebox and we were seated at a booth; socially distant from the couple of other patrons. Menus, chips & salsa and drinks were delivered quickly, then we placed our orders. Let's talk about the food (or at least what I ordered). The chips & salsa were good, though my daughter was quick to point out that the chips & salsa at another restaurant (the one with a red pepper as their logo) are better because the chips are served warm. They were out of soup which came with my entree, so I opted for a salad which....was fine at first, but it was wet. Dripping wet. So wet that as I got to the bottom of my salad, there was a small puddle of water in my plate. Plus it wasn't really leafy salad; it was shredded lettuce. Now the main course - the Del-Rio (cheese enchiladas with a hard taco, a pile of cooked ground beef, beans and rice. Some of the other reviews pointed out that they are generous with the cheese at this place, and I thought, "You say that like it's a bad thing - bring it on!" And they did; they were probably the cheesiest cheese enchiladas I've ever had, and that's not a complaint. My girlfriend couldn't handle the amount of cheese on her chili rellenos, but I had no problem with it. I would have preferred chicken enchiladas underneath all of that craziness, but I didn't see that on their menu (though I probably could have asked for it). Overall, the enchiladas were fine, rice & beans were fine, the taco fell apart after my first bite, but I shoveled it down and it was fine, and the ground beef was fine. I walked out of there fully stuffed and my appetite completely satiated. Everyone at my table was in agreement - the food was fine, but the experience was not enough to warrant a drive all the way back down there again specifically just to eat there. Mind you; we lived in Los Angeles for decades, so the bar is set pretty high for us as far as Mexican cuisine goes. However, this place has been in business (supposedly) for well over 60 years, so apparently they must be doing something right.

Wish they'd reopen. It was the best Mexican food around. Real Mexican not food from other Latin…read morecountries
