Even though I have cooled on this restaurant lately, I wanted to try the dine LA menu that included surf and turf. That was a big mistake. After waiting 20 minutes even though we had a reservation, I ordered the scallops for my first entree. It should have been listed as scallop because they only serve you one. For my second entree I was served a lobster tail that was the size of a large shrimp and the steak was around 3 ounces with no side. For $65 each you had to order a separate side for additional cost. The only redeeming thing was the dessert which was a mini cannoli I had been coming here for many years and find the quality has been decreasing and the prices increasing. I dine out often so am aware of the changing landscape in terms of prices and so on, but $22 for a regular glass of wine is a bit over the top. read more

Where do I even start with this amazing restaurant? First I would like to mention how convenient the location is. It was so easy walking down colorado street after shopping! Not only is the location convenient, the ambiance was also unique and chic with its modern italian feel. When I first arrived, even though I had a reservation, the entire restaurant was full and bustling with customers. This is the only comment I have to say that isn't simply praising this location, but waiting for my table to be ready in front of the main walkway was inconvenient and cramped. Once seated, this quickly went away. To start I had the bread and oil basket. The bread was buttery, crispy, and offered a lot of flavor per bite. I liked the diversity in the pieces as some were more soft and chewy, while others were more cracker like. For my main course I had the Spaghetti Con Polpette. When I say this dish was luxurious, I mean it. The home made pasta warmed and flavored with the marinara sauce was a classic and comforting combo. With the Meatballs, a combination of pancetta, ground filet mignon, and pork, it was a warm and delicious hug for my heart. I opted to top this dish with the parmesan and red pepper flakes and I do not regret this choice. The side of toast was also delectable with its crunchy texture to sop up the warm sauce. Finally, I had the tiramisu for dessert, the cream was light and sweet to taste. The espresso flavor was also on the lighter side as well as how much the cake a saturated. The cake was more on the cakerier side because of this, some people may be slightly caught off guard, but for my personal preference, it was a perfect combination! I've had better spaghetti with meatballs from a can of chef boyardee...and it didn't cost $35 (before tax and tip). Pasta overcooked, meatballs hard and cold. Very disappointed with the service. The food was okay. I want to point towards the management. This place seems to be utterly mismanaged, with several food runners lacking the awareness to help the wait staff appropriately. Empty plates, food leftover by patrons who had since paid and left, just sat on tables for half an hour, while the runners just idled. Not only that, help the waitress refill waters ... I asked a food runner, the same one mind you, three times for pepper and chili flakes. Each time he said something inaudible and never came back, all the while the condiments were right behind him. The manager seemed to be walking around aimlessly as well ... barely shrugging a goodbye upon our exit. Listen, when you're going to an upscale restaurant, one that we had been going to for years mind you, the service is expected to be excellent. That's what we pay for, part of the experience. TLDR: Food consistently cold, experience underwhelming. - - - - - I've always eyed Mi Piace as a passerby hoping to eat there one day. When the opportunity arose, I took it, and I have to admit the experience was quite underwhelming for what it's worth. We ordered the filet mignon, penne all' arrabbiata, and chocolate soup. We ordered the filet mignon medium well, and it was closer to medium rare, but it was still very tasty. Of all that we ordered, this was my favorite. The meat was tender and juicy, and the vegetables and potato wedge was a good palate cleanser. The penne was alright, though it came out a bit cold. Our server had it reheated for us, and we also enjoyed it with parmesan - I especially loved the cheese, though the pasta was a bit on the tougher / harder side and hard to chew. When we got our chocolate soup, it was cold, and cold twice more. Thankfully, the server had it replaced for us, and my friend was able to enjoy it. I didn't quite enjoy it, although I am not a fan of chocolate in general. I likely won't return since eating here is pretty expensive, and the experience overall was underwhelming. read more

I've been coming here for many years and it never disappoints. A staple of Old Town Pasadena. I had dinner here with a family from out of town and we had a great time. Outstanding Italian food! This used to be one of our favorite spots when we lived nearby, and after all these years, we're thrilled to see it's still just as amazing. The flavors, quality, and authenticity are exactly how we remembered them. We ordered the Calamari Fritti, Spaghetti con Polpette, Spaghetti alla Carbonara, and Rigatoni con Salsiccia. Every dish was absolutely delicious. To top it off, we had the most incredible Tiramisu for dessert. light, creamy, and full of flavor. Marco was our server, and he made the experience even better. He's been with the restaurant for over 25 years, and it really shows. Attentive, kind, and professional. Definitely ask for Marco when you go. The food was great! We got the clams as our appetizer and it was DELICIOUS, especially the sauce. For entrées, we ordered the Pappardelle Bolognese and the Linguine Pesto--both very good. Finally, for dessert, we got the tiramisu. Definitely good, though my bar is pretty high. It was honestly not my favorite, but as I said, still solid. The service was good as well. We needed a place that was open after 9pm. Though the place looked packed, we got seated right away. Our server gave us some excellent recommendations and he was very personable. Took my girlfriend out for date night and made a reservation. Although we still had to wait a good 30-40 minutes to be seated. They had a really nice bar though! Our server was great, he was very helpful throughout the night. The food was amazing, the calamari was so juicy and crispy, the Brussels were very garlicky which we loved and the pasta was good too, ended up splitting the big bowl into 2! This is a busy restaurant but you can expect attentive and friendly service here. Our server did mix up orders with the table next to us. We just laugh it off with our neighbors. It could happen since they have tables so close together. As for the food, The lobster chowder has tons of chopped veggies. That was delicious. The lobster meat is also chopped. The chopped salad is refreshing. The pasta is so so - a bit bland. A bit disappointed there. I am also surprised that they don't offer freshly grate cheese with the $$$ price tag. The pasta portion looks small but actually it is pretty good size. The inside of the restaurant is nice. Not outdated. Hostess wanna be Dionne Davenport was the rudest. We had a reservation for 4. We arrived 10 minutes early and the hostess stand was disorganized and people were standing around waiting for their table. We sat at the bar and ordered a drink for my husband with sparkling water for my daughter and I. 30 minutes later I walked up to the hostess stand and asked about our table and I was told it would be a wait because they had several reservations. I reminded her I had a reservation and why was everyone seated that walked in after me. She looked at me and said because they had reservations- clearly she didn't understand that I had one too and made us wait another 15 minutes. We were finally seated and the waiter came by and asked for our drink order. It was loud in the dining room- the food order was ok. Nothing really to rave about, do we go back? My last experience at mi piace was for Dine LA. I ordered Bluefin Crudo and the fish tasted old and fosht. Like disgustingly so. I couldn't eat more than one piece. Overcooked lamb chops, smelly caviar and just bad seasoning from the chef on the sauces left a bad impression for us. read more

The day of, we ran a little late so I called the restaurant to let them know. They were super accommodating. When we arrived, the hostess was kinda rude. She also brought us to a table way too small for our party. Luckily, it all worked out in the end. BTW, there's a brunch menu on Saturday and Sunday. We ended up ordering: Tuna Tartare - fishy Bruschetta - very good Pescatore - loaded with seafood Short Rib with Creamed Spinach - short rib was super tender but the creamed spinach was sooooo runny Chicken Lasagna - this dish surprised me the most! Very tasty Margarita Alla Mi Piace - average Midnight Fantasy - super rich and delicious I want to come back for dinner and try their other dishes. Not sure if this is a good brunch spot. read more

Brought our son here for lunch for his birthday on 1-6-26 around noon. Our waitress who took our order was wonderful and very nice. The lady (long black hair) who was clearing our appetizer plates spilled calamari dipping sauce over the top of my head and onto my right shoulder and arm and didn't realize it until I asked her for some kind of wipe to get it off. I absolutely did NOT enjoy being baptized with this sauce and hated having to sit through the whole lunch with the top of my head wet with this sauce! Secondly, the broccoli side dish I ordered to go with my ribeye was so burnt and charred it crumbled under the fork and there wasn't any part of the dish you could eat without eating the awful tasting burned broccoli. Was the chef too lazy to just toss it and redo it? It was so obviously burned and inedible. Terrible. I sent it back and had it removed from the bill. The rest of the food we ordered was good. And as I've said before, our main waitress who took our order took very good care of us. read more
