The Domain has plenty of Italian options and I would say this one just kind of is. It's not good, it's not bad. When we came, we tried the patatas bravas, insalata mista, and the rigatoni. We wandered in here several years ago and thought the food and service was good but it was so packed and loud that the whole experience was off-putting. Flip flop...walked in on a Sunday evening without a reservation. Place is empty. Three servers claimed to be our server in the first 10 minutes. Eventually our "real" server (#4) showed up with our drink order 15 minutes after server #1 took it. Tapas is my jam. I love the concept and the chef's effort and the experience. This experience began with a long list of "unavailable" items. No lamb ribs. No crudo. No octopus. So many NOs... Olives - spot on. Really good! Tempura fried scallops - more tempura than scallop but tasty nonetheless. Patatas Bravas - are they supposed to be crispy? Like kettle cooked crispy? Bravas sauce is great. Croquettes - crispy exterior with a potted meat interior. Do not recommend. Empanada - pretty good. Didn't need whatever sauce it's sitting on. And add apples and mint to the equation...that just equals best Brussel sprouts ever! Then the Confit Carrots (Thank You Taylor!)...Lemon Rosemary Ricotta as the base. I love seafood and hate when all the extras disguise the flavors of the sea. That was NOT the case with the Tuna Tartar. I had an incredible experience here on Sunday night! The young man who served us was exceptional--he gave us plenty of time to look over the menu, offered thoughtful suggestions, and clearly took pride in the authentic Italian dishes. I say this because I asked for ranch for my pizza and they didn't have any as they keep it as authentic as they can. I loved this. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the Domain, with a vibrant ambiance that adds to the overall experience. I really enjoyed the Italian tapas concept of this place. Being able to try several different things without getting too full was really fun. My favorites were the scallops and the arancini. The scallops were cooked perfectly, and so was the risotto that came with it. The contrast between the crunch and inner creaminess of the arancini was amazing. The filling (I think also risotto?) had a great balance of saltiness and lemon flavor/acidity. On the other hand, the brussels sprouts were a lowlight. They were extremely sour and sweet. My mouth was puckering, and I was making weird faces in the middle of our lunch date. I'd probably skip these and get some other veggie instead. Next time I also want to try the meatballs since the table next to us seemed to really enjoy them. The best part of the whole meal was the complementary creme brulee! I met a friend for lunch at Mia Italian Tapas in the Domain, and it was such a pleasant experience. Making a reservation on Resy was super easy, and we were seated immediately upon arrival--always a great start! Both my friend and I are pregnant, so we opted for mocktails. She ordered the Prickly Mint Spritz and I had the Berry Rose Lemonade. She enjoyed hers, and while mine was delicious, I do wish it had been served in a bigger glass--it was so good I wanted more! We started with the bacon-wrapped figs and the Caesar salad. The figs were absolutely delicious, a perfect mix of sweet and savory. For our main course, we both chose the bolognese pasta, which did not disappoint. The sauce was meaty and flavorful, and the portion was just right. The service was excellent--our server checked on us frequently, almost to the point of being a bit too attentive. Still, I'd rather have overachieving service than feel forgotten. I visited this place last weekend. Although I've lived in this area for years, I've never noticed this particular restaurant. I had 2 of the blueberry gin cocktails and they were delicious. The food we got included the Caesar, truffle fries, chicken Alfredo, shrimp pasta and creme brûlée. The food was pretty good, the pasta tasted even better when reheated the next day. It was a cool night so sitting outside was such a nice perk. Space is definitely precious on rock rose so I understand, but the tables were tiny, I'm tall and felt crunched. Also, I wasn't too enthused on the service. It felt very slow at times but rush-y towards dessert. It was a weekend night though. The crispy ness of the potatoes was just right and still sweet. Too much to explain I just want to recommend both to you all so take my word for it and try it yourself this was recommend by my server so shout to him. The SERVICE was standard but my server was very knowledgeable and knew everything and what to pair with, good recs and solid personal picks which I enjoyed. The entree was 7.5 out of ten for me and my date the reason being tho was the flavor from the main proteins even I got the half chicken which came with cream cabbage, and ham. The crispyness was perfect but the flavor was lacking in my opinion. As to why I say the tapas were top tier. The second meal was the mint papa in the pasta section in the menu and It was the same deal in my opinion for flavor. Wow! What I assume to be the manager, came by our table of 6 and explained they recently developed a new menu this year. We were so fulfilled in all the tapas we ordered! The portions are small but perfect for sharing and exactly what we expected to keep us hungry enough to try the next dish. The food came out promptly and our waitress was kind and knowledgeable. One thing I did not like was our table was in the corner and the two people who are sitting closest to the walls will have a hard time getting out to use the restroom. Thankfully that wasn't an issue for us, but something to note if the drinks are flowing faster for your party. Speaking of drinks, the cocktails were amazing! I tried the Caribbean dream and the white peach, I recommend both. For food, you have to order the duck confit. If I had more room to eat I would've gotten a second serving of that. Let me start my review by saying the greeters and servers were extremely nice. When we walked in, there were two other groups seated but they were not busy at all. After we got to our table, the server went over the menu items and drinks. We placed our orders for drinks and appetizers. A few minutes later, we put in the order for entrees. The appetizers came out fairly quickly but the same cannot be said about our main meals. For the table, we ordered the chicken croquettes, brussel sprouts, and garlic bread. All of these items were decent but pricey for how much food they give you. Thank goodness we had appetizers because it took about an hour for our entrees to come out. I had the chicken Alfredo and Caesar salad. The Caesar was really tasty and had the right amount of seasoning. The Alfredo was just okay. It didn't blow my socks off and to be honest, I could have made this dish (better) at home, which is disappointing since this is supposed to be an Italian restaurant. MIA is located in the domain and they were really accommodating to us. I brought my dog and we were able to sit outside and we got a table towards the back. We still got great service and they didn't forget about us. The food and drinks were really delicious. They specialize in tapas and they have a wide variety of items on their menu. We started with their arancini and scallops. Then we shared the braised lamb rigatoni with Brussels sprouts. We met the owner and he came around multiple times asking how our experience was and if we needed anything. He gave us the whole run down on the dish and the amount of labor and craft it takes just to create this one dish. All of the food we had was great and had some much flavor. My boyfriend and I were in town for work and looking for a good place close to our hotel that wasn't a national chain, and MIA popped up. So glad we decided to try them! The food was delicious and well priced, and so were the drinks. We sat outside and our server didn't leave us hanging even though he had plenty of people inside. The manager also came by and was a gem. I came back for a drink on my own and the service was once again amazing. Pleasantly surprised by this unassuming Italian tapas spot. You wouldn't think that this restaurant is that big until you step inside through its huge doorway. There was no wait (Saturday lunch time) so we were seated right away. Our waiter was very attentive, checking to see if we wanted drinks and if we needed recommendations for the menu, and refilling our waters regularly. We ordered the butternut squash agnolotti, mussels, and steak. Everything was equally delicious, not a bad dish in the bunch. The agnolotti were sweet pockets of perfectly al dente pasta. The mussels came with a sizeable hunk of grilled bread and savory tomato-y broth. The steak were perfectly medium rare and had a punch of truffle that balanced with the purée. All in all, a positive experience that may warrant a future visit, coming from someone who doesn't often visit the same place multiple times. We ordered almost everything on the HH menu - pizza of the day, truffle fries, roasted meatballs, chicken croquettes, beef sliders, chicken wings and arancini appetizers. Everything was tasty. The pizza of the day was Canadian bacon and red onion. The vegetarians in our group ordered in plain cheese which was actually pretty good. I don't really care for truffle (fries served with mayo) so I only picked at the hidden fries without too much truffle taste. Three small roasted meatballs did not seem amble. The chicken finger croquettes were a little strange. The beef sliders (two) were small - a little larger than a quarter in circumference. The chicken wings were bland but the sauce (spicy and very tasty) redeemed them. I didn't try the arancini but our friend really liked it. For a birthday dessert the server offered tiramisu or creme brulee. The birthday girl had the tiramisu. It was whipped cream with a tiny bit of cake in the center. We had a fun time at HH yesterday! We had a group of 7 we were happy they had a happy hour (HH) menu until 7pm because it's so hard to get anywhere by 5:30/6:00 pm in Austin during the week! Food was good. It was really busy and sometimes hard to hear others talking. They were able to split the bill, which we love, but we had a little confusion when checking out so some items ended up on other people's bill. I very much recommend Mia for HH. After reading some of the reviews, it's obvious we might have been more satisfied with ordering pasta or something from the grill. My friend and I love trying tapas restaurants and MIA looked like a great place - and the tapas menu piqued our interest. Our server, Linsey (sp), was great. Very personable and attentive. No complaints about service. However, the food, except for the brussel sprouts, was a HUGE disappointment, and spending over $100 for a meal that you did not enjoy really does leaves a bad taste in your mouth. We had: Prosciutto Bruschetta - it's been my experience that bruschetta is typically served on crisp/toasted ciabatta or similar bread with a nice crust. Our two servings were on a bread that seemed more like a Belgian waffle - not just in thickness but in texture. The prosciutto was cold, so much so that the cheese was not even slightly melted, and the bread was soft, almost soggy. We both had a single bite and set it aside. Brussel Sprouts - This is the dish we liked the best, although more accurately, the only dish we liked. My disappointment with this dish was that our serving included one grape half, about 1/2 tsp of the agrodolce, and absolutely zero apples or candy pecans. The sprouts were crisp and flavorful, but I'm sure would have been even better if all ingredients were included in our serviing. (Per the menu: smoked grapes, apples, golden raisin agrodolce, mint, candy pecans) Garlic Shrimp - Our serving arrived at less than room temperature so it didn't take long to get cold. The flavor was ok, but when you're not expecting cold shrimp, even good flavor doesn't make it better. Butternut Squash Agnolotti - This dish was recommended as a popular choice and sounded tasty so we were anxious to try it. The pasta was al dente, cooked very well, however, the butternut squash filling had a texture similar to baby food and was a little too watery for me, which was off-putting.
