Miami book fair Internation is one of the largest book fairs in the country. There are so many options over the course of over a week. There are authors from all genres. It is held on the campus of Miami Dade College, parking was free in their garage. There is a street fair during the weekend with many vendors and food trucks. There are even some authors that are free to see. All the author talks I've attended have been very good and encouraged me to read their books. Kenny Chesney was a featured author in 2025. read more

I always enjoy the Miami Book fair and today was no exception. The entrance was a bit crazy at 10:45 when I got there. They advertised pre-purchasing tickets to avoid lines but the only long line (very long!) was the one for those that had tickets. It was a beautiful day to enjoy the fair. The children's alley was great this year. Lots of seating and activities. The live music area and reading garden were really nice too and had lots of shade. I found the books to be pricier this year but there were a lot of authors signing and giving away books. They had a small farmers market which was nice to grab some pastries. I would have like to have seen more places selling water and cold drinks, it was hot! Overall a great day. read more

I haven't been to the Miami Book Fair in years; but, when I got free tickets, I thought it was the perfect time to take my niece. Let me tell you we had a blast. We got free totes from Miami Dade College and enjoyed ourselves walking through the entire fair. I loved the fact how the vendors sold various things beyond books for all budgets. The library was giving away free books with a small donation while the Children's Trust were selling books for only a $1. Moreover, some of these vendors had some classics, such as Shakespeare's complete work for less than $100. In addition to books, there was a lot of activities for the children ranging from arts and crafts to a tent where they could pretend to be a doctor. There was also live music and areas where you can relax and read under shade. The 'food court' section offered a variety of food for everyone. I tried the burger with boba tea and it was delicious. Surprisingly, parking was not too bad. This is a fun event for the whole family and I hope to come back again next year. read more

First time at the Miami Book Fair! I loved it! There are many different tents to stroll by that are selling not only books but also plants, jewelry, clothing, vinyls & other interesting trinkets. I really liked the food court area they had, which had to offer many different food trucks/stands I had never heard of before. Craving a pick me up, I ordered the Cinnamon Honey Espresso from Spillmug Coffee which was a 10/10. I will be thinking about this coffee for weeks. They also had a variety of foods to try from but the winner was for sure Chkn Mia with their hot honey lemon pepper wings with their house made ranch sauce & perfectly cut & crispy fries! Wow! Overall a great way to spend your Sunday! I can't wait for next year! read more

The street fair seemed to have more craft vendors this year, but the speaker panels were great, as always. The food area was expanded with more vendors and a nice, big shaded area to sit and eat. It seems like this book fair gets better and better every year. I remember coming here when I was a kid. And it looks nothing like it did back then. I've been coming here for the last couple of years and my kid gets excited every time we come. The experience as a whole is very good. From the entertainment to the food to the selection of books for kids to adults. This year the food court was sponsored by Smorgasbord Miami. Where there were many different "food stalls" and food trucks alike. I had the yakitori chicken on top of some noodles that were very delicious. Wish I remembered the name but it was all very good. They also had an area where kids could express their artistic side. And my son really enjoyed that. Again all and all it was great and can't wait to come back in the following years. read more

I take pride in my bookshelf. I like the tangible feeling of those pages once crisp upon encountering and then furled in those own form after reading them. Books have always incited an almost magical feeling towards them and after all the technology we embrace; they still keep their cool. I'm particularly drawn to this event because I believe in supporting local talent and preserving printed books and cherishing the magic behind printed texts. Held at the Wolfson campus of MDC, this event supports literacy for audiences of all ages and cultivates a certain sense of curiosity for subjects of all interest groups. I always say that a reader never picks a book but that the book picks them. After all, it's true. There's an abyss of tents featuring books of all genres where you're allowed to stroll & browse for whatever inspires and captivates you, Certain authors will give presentations over topics and issues relative to invoking a collaborative response. The walkways leading you throughout the booths really sets the tone to fully focus on the books you're captivated by. My bookshelf is diverse and represents my interests so buying books here will do the same for you. I'm glad I made it during the window of perfect weather on a torrentially rainy weekend. I am so glad the book fair is back! Miami's bibliophiles sure missed it last year. I don't know another city in SoFlo with a fair dedicated to books. I so appreciate the weekend dedicated to my favorite hobby. I went to the Miami Dade Library tent and got my library card because I didn't have my Miami address on my ID until recently. So excited! I explored endless tents of books and even met a Cuban author whose book I purchased. This is a great platform for bookstores and authors. read more

My first book "Rhythm For Sale" was on display and on sale there. I signed a paper saying that all of my profits would go to the St. Jude's children's hospital charity. By the time I arrived, in Miami, they told me all of my books had been sold. It made me very happy even though I missed out on taking pictures of my book on display in the booth under the tent. I had a great time at the Miami Book Fair. It was very nice for me to get out of Harlem and smell fresh air for once. Plus I met many very fine new and very electric people. read more

Miami Book Fair is a massive book festival held at Miami Dade College. It's an eight-day event with a street fair and readings and parties, capped off with a weekend of presentations by a corps of visiting authors. I was one of the 2019 authors, and I was impressed by the scope of the undertaking. I've been to a number of book festivals across the country, and this was definitely the largest, bringing in hundreds of authors and I have no idea how many readers. If you live in or near Miami and keep up with contemporary literature, you'll want to hit the Miami Book Fair every year. The author line-up is impressive, including some huge names as well as debuts and mid-career authors whose books you've probably seen in your local bookstores in any given year. For example, 2019's festival happened right after the National Book Awards, and all five fiction nominees were at this festival. I've been doing this awhile now and still enjoyed the shit out of meeting people whose books I've read like every time I turned around. I gave two presentations on the Sunday of the book fair, and both were fun and featured great authors who weren't dumbass Steph C. on Yelp. I contributed a short story to a collection edited by Joyce Carol Oates, so I got to present with her, as well as some other cool folks like Edwidge Danticat and Daniel Jose Older. We talked about our writing, answered audience questions, and signed books. I missed most of the street fair, but I wandered around the tents and bought plenty of books. If I lived in Miami, I'd be at Miami Book Fair every year, whether or not I was presenting. It's a fun, vibrant, gigantic celebration of books and reading and writing. I can't think of another public event that brings quite so many authors together for a weekend. read more

I'll be totally honest, I had no idea what the book fair was all about! Plus I'm new to this part of the country and don't go to Miami much. I was originally only interested in going since one of my favorite authors (Elin Hilderbrand) was going to be there and I had been wanting to attend one of her readings for the last few years. I had found info for this event on her Facebook page which listed her book tour dates. I did a little research online and once I saw that they had free parking, I was sold! I also learned that CNN's Alisyn Camerota was on the same panel as Elin. I love watching Alisyn and Chris Cuomo in the mornings, so I was excited to see her as well. We arrived quite early (10 am?), which is probably good since the parking garage was busy and neither hubby or I deal with urban parking hassles well. Give me NYC and it's awesome public transit over Miami any day! We got the schedule for the day and saw that Chris Matthews would be speaking on his RFK book. We got in the standby line and were able to catch a last minute ticket. You can reserve these tickets in advance, but you probably should investigate farther out if it's someone very popular. By the way, seeing these authors is FREE! I think we each had to pay something like $7 for admission, which isn't bad. We were also able to secure last minute Khizr Khan tickets , he is someone I greatly admire. It was wonderful to see him speak too. There are of course tons of books being sold in the streets outside. I wasn't too interested in that since I mostly borrow 90% of the books I read from the library. There were also a variety of musical performers, but we didn't catch any of the shows. Bayside Marketplace is a quick walk across the street from here, so we were excited to visit that for the first time. We did that during the break between authors. I really liked this neighborhood of Miami, lots of great restaurants around here too! This was a fun day out. I would have loved to see Joe Biden, but that was sold out. :( read more

This fair is one of the highlight events of my year. I love to read and this fair puts you up close and personal with hundreds of authors. In past years I have met Molly Ringwald, James Patterson, Alexander McCall Smith, and Amy Tan just to name a few authors. The marque celebrities will usually have a free or nominal fee ticketed event in the week leading up to the fair. This year Joe Biden is speaking about his new book which chronicles the passing of his son from a brain tumor. Other events are held for free on Saturday and Sunday. A group of authors will give a talk on their books in one of the classrooms on Wolfson Campus and then sign their books after. Book and Books offers copies for sale in case you forgot to bring your own. This year my daughter and I went to a pre fair event with Diary of a Wimpy Kid author Jeff Kinney. I work in an elementary school where Kinney is the number one favorite author of the elementary school set. The fair had a lot of fun activities set up for the kids related to the new book The Getaway. This is the second time we met him and in addition to being a best selling author he is a super nice person too. He took the time to speak to each of the kids as well as pose fro pictures, and sign their books. During the fair the streets are closed off and filled with the tents of people selling books. Besides the books you can buy there are many independent publishers giving out book for free. There are activities for kids as well as food for sale. The book fair is great event for all ages and is a bargain at $8.00 weekend fair entry fee for adults. There are so many authors, over 600 in all,that you could not possibly see everyone. Books and Books will usually post the fair schedule in September on Facebook so you can start to plan out your schedule. We are lucky to have such a great literary event so close by. read more

I had a great afternoon at the Miami Book Fair! I remember attending school here years ago and visiting the fair every year back then. We got a class off just to go around the Book Fair:) After that I've been few times. Today was a lot of fun. Weather was nice although it got more hot after noon and I realized I was over dressed. I was too sick to pick up my tickets for the Fair but luckily Anthony had an extra one. We strolled around and joined many raffles. I had good luck in the game today haha. I came home with plenty of hand sanitizers won at every raffle :))) We purchased books and we joined an activity in the kids area. Anthony his drawing skills outdid me. We took our time to explore book stands and it was not overly crowded. I feel there was less people than I remember. It was pleasant to walk around and spend some hours here during the weekend! Also highly recommended for families, so much for kids, it's great! And I also got my toothbrush and tooth paste being a grown child :) I can't wait for next years edition! read more

I got to experience this event thanks to YELP! Ended up taking my mom, aunt, and kids because my mom loves books. My 5 year old is also into books so I knew he would enjoy it as well. What a great afternoon. I got there around 2pm and started wandering around immediately. Was able to see so many book stands and vendors. My mom reminded me that when I was younger I performed at this same festival with my dance team. Brought back pleasant memories. The venue has a stage which various performers take the stage. The venue also allows for people of all types of religions and walks of life to present their books. There are also many authors who come and participate in book signings. Here you can catch them and have them sign your favorite book :) Best part??? All the events set up for the kids. I was so happy about that. They loved it and I was happy they were happy. Royal Carribean sponsored a cool fish making tent where all the kids left with colored fishes on rods. I spent around $50 buying books for my kids. My aunt and mom spent another $20. I got to sign up my kids to the library system as well. All in all great past time. Enjoyed it so much. Next year I will make it a point to find my moms favorite authors and take her on the designated day! read more

This festival is touted to be world's largest book fair. And they do have a lot of international representation, mostly with the international authors being from Latin America. But the Spanish books, I would say, accounts for a third or a fourth of the book fair. There's tons of books here at discounted price, author signing, and it evens feels like a mini carnival with Starbuck trucks, food stands (there were Greek, Thai, French crepes, etc), a kiddie playground, face painting, jugglers, mascots, a parade and so forth! It's a very family-friendly book fair. They also have a neat and good comprehensive of rare and antique books at the fair. They also have an International Village where you can sample wine, cheese, some other small bites, and watch performances such as Galician (Spanish) dance & music. I even spotted Fidel Castro's nephew - he was having an interview! It's nice to check the fair out! Definitely worth it especially if you're looking for gifts for a friend. read more

Going to re-review the Miami Book Fair due to my experience this year. A little of it bad... mostly good. I went a month ago to the Miami Book Fair but instead of hitting the street fair this year, I went and attended a lecture/interview being given by former US Ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power. She was, of course, promoting her new autobiography, The Education of an Idealist. I came to hear her speak because I have long admired her from when I attended undergrad in FIU. Back in 2006, I was approaching my final year of getting my Bachelor's Degree in Political Science when I took a class called Comparative Genocide. The class was meant to be an in depth study of the genocides that occurred in the 20th century in order to see what causes them, what commonalities/differences they shared, and what could be done to prevent them. One of the required texts was Samantha Power's book, A Problem From Hell: America and the Age of Genocide. The information and conclusions in the book opened my eyes and completely changed how I saw American Foreign Policy. The book really changed me. Because of that I wanted to hear from Ambassador Powers live and in person. It was incredible to hear parts of her life journey and her views on America's current challenges on the global stage. It was also a great honor to buy her book, get a dedication from her in the book and be able to shake the hand of one of my heroes. I almost chocked up telling her it was amazing to meet her and thanked her for writing that earlier book that so informed my world view. This is what makes the Miami Book Fair so special... it allows someone to meet the people behind the books they so love! That said... it was during the book fair that my wallet was stolen. The next morning when I noticed it missing, I had fraudulent charges on my card. So be careful as it takes place in Downtown Miami. read more

I love books and I really love meeting the authors! There are plenty of events the week driving up to the Book Fair weekend and I love it. This year, I went to see Donna Brazile and Ana Navarro and will be going to see Joe Biden at the Arscht Center on Saturday. Saturday is jam packed with speakers and sessions for all interests. From children activities to music to politics, everyone will have a reason to stop by and meet their favorite authors. What I also love about this event is that they have plenty of sessions in Spanish or Haitian Creole. I look forward to the Miami Book Fair every year! read more

I came to this event after 1 years of absence. I can tell you that I miss coming for this important event in Miami. The fair has a lot to offer for book lovers with a huge amount of authors presenting their new books and with the opportunity to talk with them. In my case, I went this Saturday to listen two authors from latin america about populism and I cant be disappointed. It was Terrific. The organization was really good and. Tips: if you want to take advantage of the fair, you should come early because parking is a little bit chaotic and you don't want to spend your time finding a parking spot. Bring cash. This was a great event to attend, thanks to yelp. I had not been back since I was an MDC Student at Wolfson and always enjoyed finding new authors to read or hear a talk. I loved how they incorporated almost like a mini Farmer's Market into the fair this time and pushed some local businesses. We did get partially rained out on Sunday so that we couldn't take advantage of it all. I do recommend coming in later Sunday for better deals, although you might have to look a bit harder. P.S. We parked by the cultural center garage and just took a scooter over. It made it easier trying than trying to find parking around that area. read more

In the past, I have always shied from going to the Book Fair because I always thought it was a bunch of pop-up tents and pushy vendors convincing you to buy their books. However, I finally went to the book fair to volunteer this weekend, and I have to admit it definitely exceeded my expectations. Why was the Book Fair so awesome? Well, there were two stages featuring national and local performance acts, a dozen food tents selling scrumptious food, over two dozen different book vendors, and a crowd of book-hungry buyers looking to find the next great American novel. A full sensory overload for the bibliophile! Since this was the first Book Fair for me, I enjoyed exploring it, but what made me give this Yelp entry top rank was the World Stage. I stayed there for an hour after my volunteer shift was over and heard one of the most amazing bassists/vocalists I have ever seen. Her name was Kate Davis, and she was an alumni of YoungArts, which tries to cultivate the talent of young artists. And if she is an indicator of next generation's talent, then it seems the arts are going to thrive for the next 100 years. Together with her drummer and guitarist, their music created a venue to relax among all the hustle and bustle of the crowded book fair while all hungry patrons enjoyed something delicious from the food carnival. She was exceptional in connecting with the audience through her music, and she seriously made me crave more jazz. The other stage, which was right by the Children's Alley, featured dance acts and other interesting talents like gymnasts and this memorable little kid balancing on top of several piled-up cans which were wobbling all over the place. It was a great venue to feature local Miami talent. Since I was a volunteer, I would like to say the volunteer management staff did a 5 star job in managing everyone who volunteered that weekend. I volunteered at the Children's Alley, facilitating art projects, and I have to admit there was a lot of down time when I was pretty much doing nothing because they were overstaffed, but I liked seeing the faces of the little kids light up when I had to assist them in their arts and crafts projects. They were really enjoying themselves, and it made me feel really good to volunteer that day. I was also able to create a few book marks, read to the kids, and meet a bunch of parents. I really like all the family-oriented activities that Miami-Dade organizes to bring the community together, and the Miami Dade Book Fair definitely fits in that category. It is a great event for local vendors and art programs to promote, sell, and perform. The only thing I wish they had was more affordable prices for food because I spent $5 on a single chicken skewer. The parking situation could also be better. Parking costs $10 overall, so I would say the best way to get there would be by Metro Rail and Metro Mover (subtract one point). Overall, great time! I'm a bookworm, a seeker of knowledge and lover of non-fiction. I'm always seeking a new adventure within the pages of ink. Being as such, I've attended the Miami Book Fair for 3 of the last 5 years, but this last visit was the most unimpressive of the 3. Unfortunately the China pavilion my absolute favorite was MIA, and I noticed fair itself was generally smaller than I remember. But there's light at the end of the tunnel, as my other favorite book distributor Inner Traditions was in their usual spot. Inner traditions is the only new age/witch/arcane arts booth at the fair, and it's always populated with intriguing and hard to find books. After perusing their many books, one particular title caught my eye " Return of the Divine Sophia". Browsing through it I could clearly see this was a masterpiece. It's perfect for the awakening Goddess sprouting from the sleep of gender oppression of man-made structured religions and philosophies. I definitely recommend this book and I bought it myself. The book fair has lots of new and up and coming authors as well as established authors. There's also religious propagandists of Abrahamic, Eastern and New age beliefs. There's one particular booth "Banned Books" that I found to be intriguing, they specialize in the obvious "banned books" that were banned in varying points in history à la "The Autobiography of Malcolm X", "Mein Kampf", and "Satanic Verses" etc. There's also some other booths not worth mentioning. If you need a bite, they have a section for food vendors with some tasty over priced treats. read more

Excellent event! This yearly event closes down the streets around Miami Dade College's Downtown Campus. There are tons of vendors selling books all for $5. School kids come on field trips with their schools. Families are walking around. You can meet multiple authors or sit in on one of hundreds of lectures through the weekend. There are vendors giving free samples. For example "SO DELICIOUS" is a dairy free ice cream company and they gave out free samples. Some companies like the Miami Marlins were there giving away free items like hats, posters and baseball cards. There were a number of food trucks including Ms Cheezious which is always a fan favorite. Security was tight because of recent terrorism happening but nothing bothersome. Overall this is a great yearly event you should bring the kids out to. Whether your looking for a weekend family spot, reading material or looking to grab a bite to eat. read more

This is like the Youth Fair - for bibliophiles. It's a fair in the sense that they have events and live music and tons of characters on stilts walking around. Especially a scary cat man that loves to run up and scare people. They have tents galore to buy cheap books ($3 hard covers! woah wish I wasn't feeling so lazy to hunt some good ones). They also have some great speakers. I missed them this year but wished I had seen Daryl Hammond and a few years back got to see and meet Gregory Maguire and some others. We also scored a free autographed book by some new author. Worth the $8 to go in if you see some authors or get your money's worth in cheap books. Try and make a day of it, I wish I had planned my visit better. read more

O.K., I'll be the first to admit that the Bookfair needs a new name. 'Bookfair' kind of connotes something dull, library-ish, or a book mobile, right? But the Miami Bookfair is a lot more, there's tons of author readings, live music, they have 3 minute memoirs where amateur writers read short personal stories. Sort of like Open Mic. And yes, there's tons of books you can buy too. But the name Bookfair is kind of a misnomer, it doesn't do itself justice. They need to come up with something a little more catchy. Had a great time at the 35th Miami Book Fair!! Please don't do what I did and try to fit it all in in one day though; I wish I had heard of it sooner and came over to Miami sooner so I could've enjoyed far more author panels and seen all the booths outside. This fair lasts a week and features so many incredible, famous authors as well as some lesser known ones who are still successful in their field of writing. The food court/farmers market that they have outside is also quite fun. I got the pad Thai, pork satay, and veggie fried rice while my friend got osumbee (I think is how it's spelled) which was like a sushi burrito in a triangle shape. We Lao saw açaí bowls, BBQ, Colombian food, and a make your own guacamole station, so tons of variety there. Lots of the author panels are free and so many attend book signings right afterwards too. Everything is covered from individual authors to National Book Award finalists and winners in all categories to local presenters and all genres are covered too: translations, fiction, nonfiction, poetry, graphic novels and comics, guides, satire, young adult, politics, travel, and so much more. A great place to pick up Spanish books too! Several tents were selling strictly non-English books while others offered both Spanish and English versions and some had just English, so a great way to incorporate the Latinx and Cuban population here in Miami. read more

I love this book fair. It's the highlight of my year. You do have to pay to get in, but once you do, there are many opportunities to meet authors and publisher, both in booths and in author sessions. I was very, very happy to meet Mitch Albom, who did a book signing after his session with a few other authors. I also enjoy seeing the book vendors, and there are live performances to keep you entertained. Usually the book fair highlights a country or topic, and last year it was Spain. read more

I stopped in one the kid events to use the hand washing table (really needed it after riding tri-rail and metrorail to the event). I mainly went to see Dr.Cornell West speak. This year's main attraction speaker was our ex-vice president, Joe Biden. I didn't attend the talks but was able to walk the book fair, meet and greet book writers and get their books autographed. Massive book festival that brings together the international community. Alot of non english authors and publishers but it is an international festival. This years country of target was china and they had a beautiful section in a giant tent setup to show off there selected authors and books as well as some art. Next year I found out is spain so should be really good again. This festival brings alot of people although this year we had alot of rain on friday and sunday which limited the amount of people who traveled to come. The only downfall I feel is that they do charge alot to get into the event with prices as high as 8 dollars a person and parking can be a major pain. The childrens section is also filled with tons of interactive book booths and even a dragon slide and a guy who had a snow machine for the kids to play in. read more

I just this year discovered the childrens plays performed for free at Theatro Promoteo and I can't stop talking about them! At the 2014 children's alley in the book fair they featured 7 international bilingual and non verbal and Spanish productions. What an amazing gift to our community! This was a great fair for all book lovers! They had good deals on used books and even had some stands with spanish books. I was able to get 2 great spanish books for 5 each. They also had a section dedicated for children which is great for the whole family. Definitely going again next year. read more

This was my FIRST experience with the Miami Book Fair, but not my last I hope, They had a wonderful cast of characters, from the author Rebecca Dinerstein who read from her book The Sunlit Night to Asher Price who read and spoke about his book, The Year of the Dunk. They were each on separate panels, which were not quite as dynamic as these authors but the set up of the Fair, the books that were available, as well as the authors and the food were just first rate. There wasn't enough time in the day to hear everyone, so I had to miss the Indian cooking expertMadhur Jaffrey, whose cookbooks I've been using LONG BEFORE she became a household name. There were some great ethnic foods to purchase (and at very reasonable prices), there were a few vendors who sold interesting items and the organization was, indeed, first rate. The Miami Book Fair is the "Art Basel" for book lovers, readers and people who'd like to expand horizons WITHOUT the high price tags or maneuvering 'scenes.' Great programs as well and getting around the Miami Dade College campus was easy; helpful guides, signs etc. And the tropical rain held off until 6 PM which made navigating that much easier.
