We loved service before the flight in the Flagship Lounge and on the plane in business class in the lay flat seats. The food was delicious, and the service exemplary in the lounge and on the flight. Eric & Carmen were fantastic flight attendants. We were on time flying into Rome, even though we had a slight delay in Miami. We were kept informed the whole time. This experience with American has motivated me to look at their flights first for upcoming flights in the US and overseas!

The main carrier at this concourse is Delta & though United. Concourse J nearby services non-OneWorld international airlines like Copa, Caribbean Airlines, and Air Canada. The South Terminal has its own baggage claim area. The terminal is laid out with level 1 being arrivals, 2 departures with ticketing & check-in, 3 security checkpoints with moving walkways connect to other terminals. The food offerings here aren't exciting: Nathans, Subway, Pizza Hut Express, Starbucks, Bud Lounge, Heineken Bar, Famiglia Pizza, Bongos Cuban & Illy coffee. The Moving sidewalks helped let's get down to the end of the terminal. Usual duty free liquor & perfume shops.

We had no issues here during our recent trip to Miami. From a functional standpoint, I think it's fine. The longest line occurred when checking our bags. The line was so long inside that we actually went back outside and did curbside check-in. Even the employees there commented to each other that they had never seen curbside check-in so busy. Security was good (granted, we used CLEAR+ with TSA PreCheck) and the Delta Sky Club in the H-J Connector is nice. Concourses H and J are connected and part of MIA's more compact and navigable South Terminal.

The airport itself is geared towards business & military. Besides the Coast Guard Air Station, there are at least 3 private aviation terminals - the FBO's Drake refers to in his magnum opus "Sicko Mode" (translation: terminals for private jets.) I also vaguely remember having been to an air show here back in 1988 when I was yay tall. Back to the present day, the Miami Dade Aviation Department hosted one of their "Runway 5K / 10K races " on one of the runways. I ran the 10K, keeping a 10:20 minute/mile pace. The race was run on the concrete runways and taxiways (the two loops). This was a perfectly smooth surface to run. There were various water stations along the course. A few things could have been improved. I saw pictures of last year's race and they had a few displays that let people get closer to the planes for photo opps. That would have been fun! Likewise, the post-race snack area was broken down between 5K and 10K. Even at the the 10K area, we were limited to just two items and they didn't have bananas (great for recovery.)

The main issue seemed to be that there was one counter for people that need special assist and only three counters for priority. For parking, you can easily walk to either garage B or C from the port. Our ship left out of terminal C and returned to terminal B. We did have to walk in some areas of the parking garage that didn't have a sidewalk and seemed dangerous.

I have been to fly out of here for brief flights typically taken by tourists over the beach. I had a few relatives that enjoyed adventurous activities. Once I was taken up in a helicopter. These kinds of experience are fine but I don't typically want to repeat them. I also have an Uncle that took lessons here and got his pilots license. Naturally I had to go for a fight with him. The airfield has four runways for light general aviation planes weighting less than 12,500 pounds . The airport is open 24 hours daily. Control towers 7am to 9 pm I took a small Cessna from this airport to Cedar key and back and it was a lot of fun
