Today is July 21, 2019 and I went in to pick up my custom framing to find 2 ahead of me and 1 worker. I asked if she could call someone to handle a pickup. Lady arrives trying to handle online pickups. She asked the lady to my left and she replied no. I explained I have a pickup - she asked for my ID. Thought that was weird but whatever. SHE couldn't find it. Family rang. My cell I answered. Asked when I ordered it. I couldn't recall saying this I proffered that I was called today. She said no one calls. Well, they Called me. I let my family go. She says THANK. YOU. I meant those periods after Thank and You. I went on to ignore that tone explaining it's custom framing and it nwas ordered over 2 weeks ago. She said 2 weeks ago, we'd get rid of it. Ma'am not when I've prepaid and chose my custom framing. It clicks now. Ohhhh, you said you have an online order so I was looking there. Yall, I said I have an order. At any rate, it was the kick to stay focused on the west location or try hobby lobby then the local options. The customer service at this store is nonexistent. The cashiers have no idea what they're doing and they ended up charging me $25 more than what I should've been charged. I had to physically get the buy one get two free sign and show it to the employee so they would honor it instead of trying to charge me for two and give me one! I guess equity counts more than quality good job America. read more

Michaels is my go to store for drawing and art supplies. I often use there 40% coupons religiously, without fail you'll see me there every sunday buy something. This store can be very dangerous though. With everthing they have I've tried to convince myself that I can probably knit or scrapbook. Without fail a can't do neither. This place has something for everyone or if you're not in the crafting mood just browse their dollar section. read more

In general I am a fan of the Michaels chain, but I prefer the westside location. Comparatively, this one seems a bit darker, more worn, and I swear the layout has changed at least a couple of different times in a few years. Things are usually well-stocked and the staff is generally friendly. Sales are omnipresent and you can pretty much always find a coupon that will knock of at least 25%, and more often 40. Whether I'm crafting or shopping for party supplies for work, there's always something I didn't know I needed. read more

I pop in here on occasion because they have a lot of craft and holiday supplies. I don't do a ton of crafting, but they seem to have what I need when I need it, for the most part. I have also used their framing service, which is good and the staff are knowledgeable. Overall, the pricing is on the high side and service is very much lacking due to not having enough staff. For example, today they had 3 of 6 registers open and a HUGE line. I counted more than 40 people in the line. The people at the registers were very nice and accommodating. I felt badly for them, but was unhappy with management for not doing a better job staffing the store. read more

Yeah, it's absolutely not hip, and yeah the customer service is not much, but this place has EVERY themed scrapbook sticker you've ever wanted. AND HOW MANY PLACES IN MADISON CAN SAY THAT? That's a real question. In any case, this place can, and they've got a pretty nice selection of painting supplies, ribbon, gardening trinkets, sparkly things, probably inedible multicolored sprinkles, knitting tools, and fabric markers. Oh, and they have the whole Ace of Cakes line of baking supplies, even though the Food Network show was cancelled in 2011 (maybe they're worth something on eBay!). Mikey's is not the place to go for a personalized shopping experience, but is a great place to play the "how many things can I buy for $1" game. read more

I usually find something here no matter what I need. I'm most often looking for frames or prints, but also brushes, wire, flowers, seasonal decorations, storage, odds and ends, items for the porch. This week I immediately found what I was looking for, on sale. A few days later they'd sold out, but I found something else I liked and got help from an attentive young lady who helped me avoid buying the wrong frame. Now I know an easy way to distinguish between brands and will call about frame color before I get the next one. read more

I had an amazing experience with my brother at Micheals thanks to an employee named Stephanie. My brother was looking for bright colored pencils and not only did she help us find them quickly, but she was bright and bubbly throughout. I've always loved the selection at Michaels, but the helpful and kind employees will keep me coming back. read more

This Michaels is ok as a craft store, but if I have to do a giant store, I'd usually rather go to the big JoAnn's. The customer service at this store tends to be lacking. After asking for assistance with an item (I need more than were on the shelf) during a recent visit, one clerk called for someone to help me (as she was with another customer). I waited and waited and waited. No one came. The clerk finished with her other customer and then walked off. I ended up putting back the item I wanted more of and just leaving without them. I can say this that's good about this Michael's: they always have a huge selection of Martha Stewart crafting products and a great cake decor aisle as well. read more

I shop at Michaels online frequently and in general am very happy with the merchandise I have purchased. This was my first time shopping at the east Madison location and I will not be back. I asked an associate for clarification about the "buy online and pick up in store" program. She was condescending and acted as if she had never heard such a stupid question before in her life. The woman at checkout was very distracted and needed prompting to complete my transaction. Overall, the store is nice and well stocked but the staff took any of the enjoyment of shopping in store out of the experience. I will probably shop online or at Wisconsin Craft Market from here on out. read more

Michaels used to be one of my go-to places if I needed something for a project that I am working on or if I am looking for unique holiday décor. This location is alright, it's not really attractive.... I love price comparing before purchasing something even if it's something small like knitting needles or crochet needles. Lately, I have noticed that Hobby Lobby seems to have better prices and as much as I would love to commit to going to Michaels, Hobby Lobby is becoming more of my go-to place for pretty much everything. Sorry Michaels, you kind of lost me here. I do stop in occasionally just to double check if I am getting the absolute best deal on a certain item since Hobby Lobby is of walking distance. The majority of the time, Hobby Lobby has Michaels beat as far as pricing goes. I even hit the clearance section in both stores. I'll still come here for the scrapbooking section though! read more

Horrible, absolutely horrible. I took in a piece to be framed seven weeks ago. I was told it would take two weeks. I understand that it may take a bit longer since it is a large piece (6'x 3'). Then they called and told me the acrylic piece for the front came in damaged and the soonest they could get it replaced was May 28, and then it would only take a day to complete the job. Then they proceeded to not do it I called yesterday (it had been exactly seven weeks since the day I had taken it in and was told it would be two weeks) at 12:30 and was told the manager would call me back when she came in at 1:00. She didn't call. I had a friend here (with a van) from out of state for over a month, who said he would be glad to take me to pick it up, but he had to return home. This was the only way I had of picking it up. I'm disabled and don't drive. My patience spent, I called them today and told them to finish it today and deliver it to my house today. They said they would finish the framing but would not deliver it. I explained I had a way to pick it up for over a month, but since it took them seven weeks I no longer had a way to get it. So, after seven weeks they are going to return the piece to me without framing it. Don't waste your time and money. read more

Pretty average, perhaps slightly below average, for a craft store. Their main thing seems to be scrap book supplies, beading, dried flowers and framing. They also have a small selection of yarn, painting/drawing supplies and "needle craft" kits, several aisles of ribbon, children's craft supplies & toys and a small wedding paraphernalia section. The staff is pretty hit-and-miss. If you can track down an employee you have a 50/50 chance that they know where to find what you are looking for, then a 50/50 shot at them bringing you to the item instead of waving their hand and saying "It's over that way." The last time I asked an employee for help, I was looking for origami paper. Without looking up from what she was doing she said "If we have any it'll be somewhere in the kids stuff." then just ignored me. Overall my opinion of this place is "meh" read more

Very unhelpful on the phone, will not accept orders on credit card by phone (unlike the rest of the planet). Customer service poor, and unwilling to help with anything unusual. Additionally, cost quoted was twice that of a local independently owned alternative option. Ok place to shop! But once you need any customer service not any employee would not go a inch to help you but what is set. Like once I saw that I was taking the last item and need more, so asked an employee to check if there was any in the back room. Yes, he did scan with his pda but don't go further than just saying that is all we got! Didn't check if more would come or any other store had them. And just recent, I had to return something the receipt shows that I payed with cash and credit. I wanted the money put back to my credit, patently I had no choice even that the majority was payed in credit. Well, I am ok with their products but I am don't like their customer service. Store is neat and clean. Nice presentation. Many different products for drawing, art, painting, floral, magazines etc. Prices are really competitive. They also have plenty of nice items if you are looking to buy for kids. read more
