Wish I could give this zero stars. I don't know how this store hasn't closed down yet. I've walked out so many times. No one ever helps you in this store. The checkout is horrible. I was waiting in line for over 20 minutes and all the self checkouts had the assistance lights on. The worker just mumbled and didn't do a thing so i just left. This is the final straw for me. This was one of the MOST remarkable experiences I've had in retail. The manager was off the floor. We approached someone who did not work there, and finally the hubby went to the cashier for assistance. My frustration level was tilting around 87% and the craft was due in 2 hours. Long story short, she did a triple summersalt in midair with a no-fault landing that stuck. All our supplies, all the needed substitutes with a selfie frame made to order and the web discounts we were unable to use the night before. The selfie board was a hit, it is now a frame for all the well-wishers comments from the party. TTC (that's me) was a hit. MICHELS is my hero, the hire the best'EST humans of all! read more

I use to be a avid shopper at Michael's I like to get my shopping done early, so I go into the store get my items and go to pay for them and all they had open was self service registers, I do not like using them, the lady working up front said she couldn't help me on a register but could help me to use the self serve, tell me what would have been different , she would have still been HELPING ME CHECK OUT. I am already spending my money there, I should not have to check myself out. I left the merchandise there on the counter and told her she could help me by putting the things back and left the store and went to HobbyLobby where they have employees to ring me out....as long as they have self server at Michael's and will not ring me up unless I have cash then I will NO LONGER SHOP at Michael's, you have lost a customer. read more

This is a horrible place of business. Terrible customer service, apathetic employees, Ordered Hoka hiking shoes for my girlfriends birthday which were delivered to the Michaels on Telegraph Road in Southfield, Michigan on April 5th. I went to the store to pick up the shoes on April 7th (before going to my girlfriends birthday party) at approximately 11:30 am, and was told by employee that the shoes were never delivered. I showed her that I had documentation, emails and text that clearly state the shoes were delivered to the store. The employee then told me that it may take two days after the delivery date before the shoes would be available, which is obviously ridiculous. She then suggested it maybe it may come to my house which is again, obviously ridiculous. I called Hoka Customer Service and they were very professional, unlike this store. The Hoya customer service representative confirmed that there was a delivery on April 5th and also confirmed the name of an employee/person who signed to confirm that a delivery had been make (employees name was Hall). I immediately asked Hoya for a refund, which they granted. The lack of professionalism and attitudes of the employees are stunningly unacceptable and pathetic. They don't give a damn!!!!! read more

I often go to this Michaels location since its just a few meters away from Meijer. I usually head off to their clearance section at the back. The coupons I received from the mail and email helps a lot in saving a few bucks, especially how much it cost to buy stuff here compared to the Dollar Tree. Their aisles need to be organized. Lots of stuff out of season are mixed with other new items (mislabeled prices). I also find their store manager/supervisor here to be apathetic, since she wasn't approachable and helpful. I asked her if the items on display were on sale, she said no but she will allow me to buy one at the moment. I asked her about the Michigan Price Law earlier, that is probably why her tone of voice wasn't cordial. The rest of the staff are helpful. I didn't apply the Price Law because she made me feel like an opportunist. Bad costumer relations! Don't like the management, but I do buy lots of my baking stuff here. read more

... I come here on a fairly regular basis, about 1-2 times per month. It is a fairly decent store. They have pretty much every art/craft-related item that you may be looking for and you also will probably find many things that you didn't even realize that you were looking for ;-) The store always seems organized...Consider that it is a craft store, so typically people will rummage and I can imagine it damn near impossible to maintain the store picture perfect at all times. I never have a hard time finding anything. Staff is cool, fairly friendly. They aren't trying to be your BFF, but definitely extend a helping hand without having to be tracked down or chased through the store. Basically they are there if you need them, but still allow you to browse leisurely (how store service should be). The size of this location is also great: not too massive and not cramped. It's also cool that they offer various crafting sessions, pretty much on a daily basis. In addition to crafts they carry party/wedding favors, fashion jewelry and many other cute little novelty items. I return things often and it's no hassle and fast. One thing that does suck (sometimes) is the lines. Usually front end staff is scarce and at peak times (wkend afternoons), it can get ugly with the wait.... All-in-all though, it's an alright store. read more

First time going to this location and I definitely will not be back! Things started off fine. I did my shopping and found the things I came for. With 5 minutes til close time I proceeded to the checkout. There were 4 people in line in front of me, one being rung up, and only one cashier. After waiting in line for 15 minutes, with 2 people still in front of me, I set my items down on the register counter next to me and walked out. It's very, very rare for me to do something like that but I just couldn't believe that was happening. Now I put no fault on the cashier at all! She just kept getting picky customers who wanted to dispute costs of items, debated which items they wanted to keep and get rid of, and forgot they had a coupon. I don't understand why the manager didn't open another register to get rid of the line, especially since it was closing time. Other Michael's locations I've been to do that. Horrible service. I'll leave a star because it's pretty clean and everything is easy to find. Every single time I come here, the staff is very nonchalant and act as if they don't want to be there. This time, the cashier wouldn't even ring me up because she was too interested in my nails! She didn't greet me or anything. All the said was "Can I see your nails". Then after I showed her once, she started talking to the cashier next to her about their children then asked to see them again. Ring me up so I can get out of here! The Twelve Oaks area suffers from the rampant plague of Itemis Disorganizus. The key symptoms are a location's inability to keep its shelves stocked, items appearing where they do not belong, and the staff/customers' general disinterest to fix the situation. I went into Michaels to pick up supplies for a craft project. Pipecleaners, cotton balls, and various other minor bits shouldn't take me thirty-five minutes to locate. Unfortunately the state of disrepair from a mid-November jaunt turned out rather poorly for me, and wasted most of my lunch hour. Too many gaping holes on shelves or mismatched rows (albums where they shouldn't be, scrapbooking stickers mislabeled or put on the wrong hook) made a simple shopping experience more of a headache and a labour than it had any right to be. I couldn't determine prices for several items until I specifically tried to match up their barcode/SKU/whatever to the sticker. What a waste of time! None of the employees seem terribly bothered by the general state of disarray. They go about their various tasks, oblivious to the mess left on a table or the need to restock albums. I got a cold shoulder when asking where to find an item, and in the end picked it up at Target. Michaels, being a distant, apathetic place to shop is not a healthy business model to keep customers. I could just as easily go online. The reason I come into the store is to see the stock and, usually, for face-to-face interaction if I need help. Convenience aside, the store doesn't offer a draw. The two people roaming a big-box craft store are insufficient for the number of patrons that show up at midday or after work. Cashiers try to mitigate the serpentine lines somewhat, but what good are they if we can't find what we wanted to buy? read more

The store was organized and tidy, the line to check out was long but it moved pretty fast. I had an online order, the lady that retrieved my order was nice and courteous. Overall, the customer service was friendly and fast, I don't usually have a need to go into Michaels, but if need be I would return or recommend this store. read more

She came out and I asked her where she was and why I couldn't find anyone else. She said that it was just her working outside of the registers and that she was in the back. This store has become one of my favorite places to shop. After not coming here for years due to it being so dirty and lacking merchandise. To much of my surprise the store is well stocked and cleaner then I ever remember. The staff is friendly and there to assist you. My mom is a teacher, so she is the person that put me on to this arts and crafts store. There is always something here that you really don't need but you buy it anyway...just because it's cute. This store is huge, and you will find any type of art or craft you need. They are always busy and full of soccer moms (or so it seems). The staff is very helpful whenever they can, but honestly you really can't expect much assistance because many of the workers are on the registers taking care of the long lines. read more

I often wonder if the Southfield store is shutting down because their inventory is always low. They don't have much at all of anything. During the Christmas holiday season, you'll find plenty of what you need, regardless of the category. But during the rest of the year, the pickins' are always thin. Their frame section has dwindled. Their floral section is half the size of other locations. The baking section is getting smaller. It's pretty disappointing. Luckily there are other locations nearby. One plus though: the folks working there are always nice. read more

I came in here looking for Hooks and Eyes, when I asked the girl at the register she gave me a blank stare and then informs me that she doesn't know what that is. She asked someone and they said the aisle number. I asked if that means they for sure have it I just didn't look well enough or if they may have it, it would just be in that aisle. Again, a blank stare. I asked about how another product works, blank stare. I went back and looked for the Hooks and Eyes. I found them, and I have now been on line for 15 minutes because only one register is open. The customer is walking around shopping and there's a whole line behind me. Have finally had enough of this store. Have shopped here for years and there is always a problem...staff does not know where items are, have never heard of the items they sell, long lines, etc. Today, when a salesperson told me that he didn't know where something was, I stated that this store does not do a good job of training their staff. Another staff person heard this and said, "There are plenty of other stores that you are welcome to shop at." and then she quickly walked away and hid in the back office. Seriously?? I went to the register and asked to speak to the manager and found out that the manager was the person who made the rude comment to me. There was another customer standing there and she stated that she has also had problems with this store manager and that she is very rude. Can't miss this girl, she's covered in tattoos and always has a miserable look on her face. I have made a call to corporate about her but I will now be shopping at Hobby Lobby where the staff is super friendly and helpful. And Elise (tattoo lady) is correct...there ARE plenty of other stores that I can shop at. read more

He provided outstanding advice to us with regard to the choosing of the mat, the size of margin etc. We received the framed artwork from Michaels a few days later. The final products are amazing. go here a a lot lately for sticks and sprinkles for all the cake pops i've been making, and done a bit of xmas shopping in the toy area. so this place is just oozing with coupons o give you. when ur put on their email list u get coupons and when u buy something they hand u a coupon with ur receipt. actually they are pretty smart cuz maybe thats why i keep going back cuz of the darn coupons i think "omg i have a 40% and can't pass up not using it and i'm there like everyday. only thing i don't like about this location (not sure if they are all like this) is when there is a line of people they never seem to have enough help and they can't put things on hold. oh and i almost forgot another dislike...half the signs of whats on sale are pointless like when i says "50% off all booked Crayola items" and then u take up a "boxed Crayola item and it doesn't ring up and even the staff doesn't get what the sign means....not good read more
