YT had was a sponsor the local public radio station I wanted to try my luck. I found a couple of addresses listed and I tried both. No such luck. What a major disappointment, especially because of all of the positive reviews. Tallahassee needs another locally-owned yarn store. The market is big enough to support two and I sincerely hope someone will take the plunge. The nearest yarn store is 30 miles or so away in Georgia. That's fine if I'm looking for something but obviously not a distance for a sit-and-knit or help on a project. Please, Tallahassee, get another store!!!

I'm not even sure how I found The Fuzzy Goat, a Facebook ad maybe, but I'm so glad that I did. They have a beautiful selection of yarn, especially featuring indie dyers, and a great selection of accessories and bags. Every time I look at their website, I find something else that I "need"! My favorite item is the "Box of Goats". It is a box of 31 surprises, one item to open for each day in December. It includes little skeins of yarn and a pattern to work on. Last year, I had so much fun opening up each gift. Besides the yarn, there were cute accessories, sweet treats, and a yummy recipe. And it showcased local shops in the area, which I thought was pretty cool. They also have a great Facebook page that highlights their store and a Facebook group where knitters and crocheters can chat about their different Fuzzy Goat projects. Their social media is on point and really gives you an idea of what it's like to be there in the shop! Check out The Fuzzy Goat, you won't be disappointed. Hopefully one day, I'll get out to Georgia and visit in person. For now, I'll be content to check out the website each week.

It has many facets and components but the gist is that its a center for goods to be donated, re-used, up-cycled and turned into art or whatever else you want it to be. If you are a teacher looking for supplies for ur students she's got EVERYTHING (not an exaggeration). I believe teachers get discounts but I'm not entirely sure and even if they don't everything is super cheap. If you are a person who likes to be inspired, check out the space she's got EVERYTHING, books, art supplies, jewelry, jewelry making supplies, stamps, paper, yarn, gadgets and gizmo's aplenty. I have not an artistic fiber in my being but just hanging out there makes me feel like I'm an artist. There are also classes and events, like fill a bag day (for $5 or $6), wine and art classes in the evening on Wednesdays and the one I frequent is the toddler art class on Tuesday (10:00 am-11:30 am). Carly reads a story to the kids- who ADORE her and she them- and then creates a super toddler friendly art project around that story. An example is the time she read an Eric Carlyle book and then led an art project using tissue paper. She gives each child so much loving individual attention and is so easy going. My daughter loves her and loves going to the sharing tree. She does an incredible job of fostering a strong sense of creative, conscious, community in Ole T-Town.

I stopped by one day and discussed the many options with the person working in the framing area and decided to go with a custom frame so that both my degree and license could match. The estimated turn-around time was about 3 weeks. On the promised date, I happened to be shopping nearby and decided to call to check on my order. It was ready, however, no one notified me.... -- anyway -- I went in and retrieved my items and was very pleased with the outcome. Going with the custom frame option was a bit pricey, transparently, I paid ~$216 for both my degree and license.

Discovered this pretty massive antique market. It was pretty intense of how many different things…read moreare in here. So much hand made art. From the amount of barn finds here it's impossible not to get lost in here discovering different kinds of antique. It's like walking throughout history here. Various antiques of different ethnic cultures. I found a solid place to pick up fresh sourdough bread and marmalades that aren't flooded with chemicals. The staff is accommodating as well, I had a lot of questions and they had a lot of answers. The tea area is a pretty cool spot for tea time and pastries when you schedule it. My girlfriend was pretty obsessed with All Things Tea. This place is a good way to change up your usual spots for exploration in Tallahassee.

As we know, local honey is much better and more beneficial than store bought honey. The Frenchtown Farmer's Market is rather small. I would actually say it is smaller than the one out by Thomasville. However, the fresh produce and other goods are great....great quality and great price that is. I saw foods such as watermelons, sweet potato, tomatoes, okra, onions, and beans. There was also some great local honey from Walter, the bee keeper. He had some freshly cut sourdough bread for us to try the honey before purchasing. He had honey both with and without the honeycomb and they were $10 each. He also had some candles that were made out of bee pollen and said those, too were good for allergy sufferers. There was a stand where a lady was selling boiled peanuts; both spicy and non spicy. I saw some t-shirts for sale as well as some artwork. What I appreciated most was that there were people from different ethnic backgrounds and different ages. Everyone was so nice....it's not all the time you walk down the street and are greeted by everyone. There was even a young women set up street side who offered us some free water and free slices of watermelons. Many of the neighbors were sitting on their porches people watching and striking conversations with passersby. Although this is not a place where I could "stock up" on all the produce I desire, it is a great place to stop in to purchase a few items. I love that this market is still around and that some of the culture and history of Frenchtown is being preserved.

Then we moved to Tallahassee and never thought we would find Mia something as special. But then my wife met Mrs. Martha and Mrs. Madonna from SewNoles and thought that they would be a good fit. This place is so special that even my wife is taking classes. The ladies are spectacular and have truly rounded Mia up to the next level of passion for the art. So very therapeutic! Made a visit to this establishment after work one day. Picking out a piece and…read morepainting it just worked wonders and was a a stress reliever for sure! An excellent way to wind down - plus I enjoyed the painting! The staff was super friendly and very patient in explaining the process to a newcomer. There are loads of pieces from which to choose. Once the choice is made, the customer can choose the colors for their piece, which is left at the facility for staff to put in the kiln. The piece is usually ready for pick up within a week/week and a half. I plan to visit again; next time, I'll have others tag along with me!
