We had purchased a vacation package from GREAT VALUE VACATIONS that promised us that we were getting 4-star and 5-star accommodations by purchasing this $9212 package from them (for all four people). The package would have taken us from Washington DC, to Budapest, to Vienna, and then finally Prague. However, the excitement of the vacation stoped, when we arrived at the HOTEL MERCURE VIENNA. It is a crummy hotel that is located in an aisle within some busy downtown streets. The rooms were small, the hallways were creepy and dark. To my surprise: 1. Our reservation was not found by the reception desk when we got here. It took them 30 minutes to resolve the mystery. In the end, they found the reservation under the name of some other persons name. It had not been made in my name by GREAT VALUE VACATIONS. 2. Upon check-in, the reception told us that we were not going to be provided daily breakfast for free. We frantically looked across all of our reservation but found no mention of breakfast. Antoehr grand screw up by both GREAT VALUE VACATIONS as well as HOTEL MERCURE VIENNA... 3. After checking into our two rooms (for four people), we were even more shocked. We were allocated two old rooms in a very old hotel. No modern amenities in the hotel. Even the phone inside the room to call the reception was a cheap analog phone. 4. When I called the front desk after checking in at 6:30pm, asking for a luggage rack, the girl who checked me in, picked up the phone. She told me that she did not have an answer for me immediately but that she would call me right back. She did call back within 5 minutes after talking to her colleague, but told me that I would have to call back the next morning and talk to the front desk then. What a sham. 5. At 8pm that same night, I called to ask for some basic missing supplies in the room: - bottled water (I was told that I would only get one bottle of bottled water for my entire stay) - milk creamers (I was told "no") - coffee (I was told "no") - coffee (I was told "no") 6. When I went to the front desk to get the above supplies. the reception lobby told me to get the supplies from the hotel's restaurant (which was in the building next door). 7. And when I went to the restaurant (next building), they in turn asked me to go and ask the reception lobby for these basic supplies. c Such nonsense. I have never experienced it in my life. All in all, given what I am seeing, this 3-day vacation stay at this hotel will be a horror show. I believe GREAT VALUE VACATION should never use this HOTEL MERCURE VIENNA again, ever. While I can understand the restaurant didn't want to waste the opened bottles，but this either means their business isn't good so they can't sell their wine or they just have poor business ethics. In either scenario，the tasting experience at Silvio and Nickol left a bad taste in the mouth. At the end，I asked Oscar to hopefully improve the tasting experience in the future and offered 100Euro tip as courtesy.

We chose the tasting menu with wine pairing - no thinking required here, except when the sommelier offered us options to taste some rare fines, like the 1991 Mouton. Two items of the dinner were most memorable to us - the hamachi 2-ways and the house sourdough with butter 3-ways. That said, every course was beautifully presented. The flavor and color of each dish was enticing to our eyes and tastebuds.

We found the bed to be very comfortable and the linens were nice. We had a "pillow menu" but never bothered to try it out. We should have. The daily breakfast was really excellent and added quite a bit of value. There were hot and cold dishes as well as pastry, juice, and specialty coffee. The bar was fine, but not special. The restaurant hours seemed a little spotty. We could never really figure out when it was open. Despite this, it was a wonderful hotel and I'd happily book it again.

Hotel Park Royal Palace in Vienna is a young hotel, next to the Technical Museum (Technisches Museum) and a ten minute walk from Schönbrunn Palace. Across the street from the number 10, 52 and 58 tram which can assist you to get down town. As you walk up to the hotel the large glass windows and a golden panels will catch your eye. This hotel stands out with modern elegance surrounded by trees. With its interior design of sand-colored elements, Hotel Park Royal Palace Vienna has a large, beautiful, classy yet modern lounge/waiting area decorated in gold and silver/gray highlights. The executive room features a double bed (2 mattress) with a slightly firm mattress, soft comforter blanket with white bathrobes and slippers on top. There is a flat screen TV placed on the wall facing the bed, or if you need to do work, you can do it on the table below. The bathroom is clean (always a good thing). The shower was really cool in my eyes -- modern with a wall that juts out to act like a table for your soaps and shampoos. Bogner soap, known to be a gentle cleanser is provided by the sink. A mini-bar has alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and snacks for your consumption. There is also a safe if you need to secure items you have, and there is an extra pillow, laundry bag and sewing kit if you ever need them. The hotel has a fitness center of a small gym with up to date equipment (and personal training for a small fee). There is also a sauna and steam room to release toxins, and massage services (for a fee) to rejuvenate and relax. This was my absolute favorite feature over my stay at Hotel Park Royal Palace Vienna. It is a big lounge for those who are in executive rooms and suites. The Executive Lounge provides unique breakfasts and lunch snacks consistently throughout the day. Relaxing lounge mood music plays in the background while you can lay back on one of their couches or enjoy sitting outside on their balcony looking at the trees. I find it quite a nice treat to indulge in some coffee as you listen to the birds chirping, and sure it can be a little noisy since it's by a busy road, but it's not so bad. Oh, and I must mention that you have free access to their drinks, ranging from different kinds of coffee (cappuccino please!) to sodas, ice teas, juices and bottled water. I spent a lot of time here in the lounge, using their computer (they have 2 plus a printer) catching up on e-mails and typing out this review! If you stay here in the hotel you must have their breakfast. It is outstanding. For the hearty eaters: Eggs, bacon, cheeses, roasted vegetables and sausage. For the light eaters: Cereals, muesli, granolas, yogurt, fruit and breads. For the sweet toothers: Pastries, croissants, nutella and butter. Fresh pressed juices are provided. What makes it extra special is that the food is organic and locally sourced. If you are on a special diet or have dietery concerns you can inform the dining staff and they can provide you with what you need (ie = gluten free bread and breakfast, etc). The restaurant also provides meals for lunch and dinner. Their menu changes depending on the season and what they have. I ordered their Wiener Schnitzel which came with a salad, seasoned potatoes and cranberry sauce... and it was pricey but delicious. The hotel also features a conference center to hold meetings, wedding receptions and events. Hotel Park Royal Palace is a really great 4 star hotel.
