I wanted to love this place because the staff was nice, but I left disappointed. My French tips are uneven, the polish underneath is bleeding through, and the shape isn't consistent. The finish already looks dull, which isn't what I expect after paying salon prices. What surprised me most is that my tech mentioned having a lot of experience, but my nails honestly look like I did them myself at home. To make matters worse, she let me leave with wet nails -- they weren't fully dry for over an hour. At the end of the day, experience is only worth mentioning if the work reflects it, and in this case it absolutely did not. I went into Michelle's Nail Salon on 3rd Ave in Westwood, NJ. On Tuesday May 10.to get a gel set for $100.00. No less a French. Well I woke up Wednesday May 11th and two tips just came off. And I didn't even do anything. I went in at 9:15am on Wednesday and explained it to one of the staff members and she said i I understand you want them off. I have been going to Michelle Nail Salon for about a year now. I always get a pedicure - sometimes a "special" one and sometimes a basic. It depends on the time. The prices certainly are reasonable considering all the services that one gets. The service is very professional and caring. I always get the gel polish. My current pedicure has lasted about a month but I am embarrassed at the length of my toenails. However in that amount of time the polish is still looking perfect, and I go barefoot a lot. The clinician did a beautiful job. I just have to make time to go back soon. BTW I always ask for Jennifer, just because I've gotten to know her and can count on her to remember my preferences. Let me start off by saying they did both the french gel nails and toes in about 20 minutes total. There is paint all over my hands and one side has thicker lines then the other. I called ahead to make reservations and I was happy to see that while they were busy when we got there they still honored the appointments we had made, taking us before the walk in clients. I got a spa pedicure and was very satisfied with the service. The woman who did my nails was very friendly, and did such a great job. Honestly, I'm a little speechless as to the experience that my daughter and I had today. First of all we were supposed to come at 11 for an appointment but they called and asked us to come earlier fine. We got there at 10:15 only to see that only one person was available to do nails and when I told the woman I wanted a powder manicure she didn't look like she knew how to do it got on the phone and started speaking in Her native language asked clearly asking questions then she kept grabbing bottles of different things, and didn't seem certain as to what to put on my nails. She was very nice but literally spoken no English. I was trying to ask questions about the powder experience, and she was unable to answer me, and I was unable to understand her. OK fine except that then it became a very uncomfortable situation. Oh but I haven't even mentioned yet that the entire place smells like sewage strongly of sewage might I add and my daughter finally said out loud does it smell like poop in here to you mom? Then the woman who is in charge rolled in at the very end of our experience and also a couple people had come in, so I was almost grateful that other people were there because it was such an odd experience, but the owner told me that she doesn't like powdered things, and that gels are much better, which was a really odd thing to say, as I just finished Having my nails done. The whole thing cost $95 and I didn't have a lot of change and tried to explain to her that I didn't have change and that I wanted to use some of my credit card but she didn't want to run my credit card so I only had $17 for a tip so then she announced to the store that this was it and that they were supposed to share this. I have been coming here since high school (2008) and this is the best nail salon ever! My nails always last a solid two weeks and my pedicures usually last for 3! Sarah and Kim are awesome they always give me A+ service when I come in. They even ask about my mom and always remember any little details about my life when they ask (I honestly love that type of customer service). I also love that Sarah always helps me pick out colors and tells me which ones are tacky (it cracks me up). I couldn't ever imagine going anywhere else. The place is very clean, and the rest of the staff is always friendly. Sometimes there is a wait, which I don't ever mind because its so worth it. I love this salon! In this area, there a MILLION salons to choose from but Michelle's has good service, great prices, and respectful employees. My pedis always last forever and the few manis I have gotten here last OVER A WEEK! That's huge (at least for me). I got the gel mani once and would rate it a "2.5", but I am typically not a nail polish wearer, mainly pedis. I get my eyebrows done every now and then and they do a great job with that as well. Got my nails done April 19th paid $50 plus tip. That same day the nail polish popped off, didn't make a big deal about but definitely was disappointed considering I spent $50. But not even a week and half later 4 of the nails break.. honestly disgusting cannot believe I spent $50 on nails that break over everything and nail polish that randomly pops off. Should've have never tried this place for acrylics, go to nail show in Hillsdale. They charge $40 for new set and $30 for refill and nails don't break and nail polish definitely won't pop off read more

I decided to give this nail salon a try while in the area. Definitely a great atmosphere, upclass but not overpriced. I got a mani/pedi for $25 which is their mon-wedn special. Very nice massage chairs and the first time i've ever seen the foot rest part move upward so they can reach your feet better. very nice. my only complaint would be that the girl who did my nails didn't understand english well. I like to be able to talk to them about certain things when i'm getting a pedi so i get frustrated when they don't understand. all in all a pretty good place for nails. they also do waxing and massage (maybe only chair). oh and the dryers are the nice kind that you dont have to keep turning on. read more

One of the worst experiences. At first I thought my new tips were great But once friends saw they said the polish was streaky. Then I went back and it bubbled from the three coats which was poorly put on. I had a new acrylic set. Along the cuticle line the polish followed the poorly lined acrylic cuticle line. It was so apparent I had tips. I was told I should use gels not my cheap opi polish. For fourty years I used polish not gels and my polish would last. Maybe not two three weeks but mor than a day. I am so aggravated. Within four days two nails literally came off. Another one chipped not the polish but part of the tip. I certainly am not going back for them to fix it. My regular salon is putting on a new set. She said two others were lifting. The first set at Michelle's cost i50$. Less than a week later I am spending another 30$. Nice people but stinky work. Not only did she do my manicure horribly and in 5 minutes, but I couldn't event count the amount of times she rolled her eyes and mumbled something rude under her breath. I have had my nails professionally done for over 30 years, I had the worst manicure ever( All GEL), and very pricey a fill-in was $55. My nails were so uneven and wide at the ends, and a week later lifting, which never happens when done correctly. DO NOT go here. For a couple of reasons. The owner is pushy and intrusive. If you wind up getting your nails done by her- HORRIBLE job, she takes about 5min to do your manicure and it's chipping on the way to the car. If you don't order her pushy upgrades she makes a face and continues to hassle you. WHO NEEDS that when you are supposed to be relaxing! Also a BIG no-no, she CUT me with her cuticle cutter and I mean a cut, I panicked inside but didn't show it because of all the cases of flesh eating bacteria people picking up from salons, I mean Paula Abdul had to have part of her thumb cut off because this kind of incident! Well, she cut me and proceeded to act like it was nothing, with a cute little "so sorry" and barely wiped it with alcohol. I was floored when she WINKED at me after she cut me.
