I have had several claims over the years, mostly very minor bumper repairs. They handled all the details and claim work flawlessly, and with no hassle. That is what sets companies apart. How do they handle actual claims? I have complete faith in my agents and their team. Over the years I have bought cars, houses and condos, added family members as they began driving. Again, they handle the paperwork flawlessly. I have lived in 5 cities in Pa. They handled not only my auto, but also homeowners in each city. My children went to college in different states, and we still worked with this company. I can call them from most anywhere, and they know me. Which is cool in my opinion. I have grown quite loyal because of the excellent service. Erie is a great and solid company that I have faith in, then have the added security of agents that know me, and recommend services that fit my life. Unfortunately, my basement flooded, and I lost a lot of valuable items, monetarily and sentimental. The field adjuster assigned to my claim, Daniel Silverman, was very communicative immediately. He scheduled a time to come out, and was prompt. He was very knowledgeable about my policy, and reassuring in my home. He was thorough, and did whatever he could to make this whole mess run as smoothly as it could. My claim was paid out in a matter of days, and he had great communication the whole way through. I'm not sure if Erie as a whole company is this easy to deal with, but I'm thankful I at least got Daniel assigned to my claim because he sure was. Just horrible communication and professionalism out of their account agents. Specifically Shane A Hall and his immediate supervisor, Sandi Corrington. Was in a horrific wreck and had to deal with both of them for a week. They give me a rental car (cheapest money could buy, tiny sedan for 6'7 insuree) for 10 days while we sort out the claim. 3 days in, I'm out on a work trip out of state. They tell me they are prematurely ending the rental lease, and I will be on the hook for both rental and storage at a tow lot they have my totaled car in. They do this via email, not even a phone call. They dodge calls all afternoon. Basically bully me into taking less of a settlement than I was owed. If someone with this insurance hits you, just say your prayers. The excuses are about to fly early and often and the condescending language coming there short after. What a dump of a company.

When you consider the fact that they are independent brokers, they are able to represent the customer and not force feed you into a specific company. Therefore, if rates go up with one company (which happened for me), they had no problem running quotes on about a dozen other companies to see who would provide the best coverage at the best rate. In addition, I like the fact that they are local and I actually know two of the staff members in the community. They aren't just people I call when I need help on insurance alone, they are both individuals I know in my community and I feel comfortable speaking with them in general. When you throw in the fact that they were not only able to help me save money but also help me obtain BETTER coverage, it was an excellent result. But, when you think about the fact that the whole process was simple, casual, and more of a conversation than a "high pressure sale" like some places, it was a very easy experience. I liked the fact that they were able to help me with my personal insurance, but now that I know they also have products for health insurance, life insurance, personal auto and the toys (motorcycles and ATVs), I will certainly place the rest of my business with them.
