DO NOT TAKE YOUR ITEMS TO GET REPAIRED HERE!!!! I've never even heard of micro center nor been-- my roommate spilled some liquid on my laptop and promptly took it here to have it looked at. Microcenter had my laptop for over two weeks and gave it back to me with a new screen. Once I got it back less than a day of use my laptop went completely dark. I took it back to Microcenter where the cashier let me know that they'll look at it again under the same ticket from when they had it. He also let me know that they ONLY replaced my screen- they did nothing for liquid. A week goes by- I have no text, email, nothing from micro center. You cannot reach the store at all- you have to go through multiple 800 numbers and be transferred. After finally speaking to someone they let me know I wasn't checked in correctly and they were sorry - less than an hour later I get a text that my motherboard fried due to liquid... The manager texts me telling my they'll transfer my data if able to for free- they then fight and charge me it the next day. I had to walk back inside and send the screenshots in order to get my data xfer for free... I will never be back. read more

I usually love this store as the floor people are super friendly and are very helpful and fun to talk to! They have a lot of devices and parts for almost any home project and their products are very reliable. However, this was my first time experiencing the repair center and it left a lot to be desired. I figured they would be better than Best Buy's Geek Squad, but the supervisor I worked with had a very condescending and cocky attitude. When I first went in on a Saturday they said a week would be no problem when fixing my laptop and the same was said the Monday I dropped it off. I heavily emphasized that it needed to be done the following Saturday as I use that laptop for work and was leaving for a work trip. Again, was reassured that it would be done. Tuesday, I receive a text saying they needed to order parts, assuming they were under the same impression that this needed to be done by the following Saturday, I figured they were positive they'd get the parts in time and be able to fix it, so I went ahead and ordered the parts. I receive a text saying "we will reach out to you in 3 business days or when the parts arrive, whichever comes first". Three days later and I have yet to receive any updates, 4 days and still nothing, then I reach out the Saturday I was leaving only to be told my laptop would be #6 in the repair line, even though they knew it needed to be done that day. I gave them a 3 hr heads up before going to the store to find they hadn't started it til I walked in to pick it up. The supervisor assured it wouldn't take long, so I went to lunch and returned 2 hours later (at this point they had the laptop for 5 hrs past when I was supposed to pick it up). When I returned with my husband, he asked if there was any way we could possibly be compensated for the miscommunication and the fact that we had to wait an additional 5 hrs. and the supervisor got cocky saying "you said a week, it was done in 5 days. I don't know what else you're wanting from me" I agree, they got it done within the week, but I had emphasized that we were picking it up Saturday when dropping off my laptop. When my husband tried bringing this to his attention, he kept talking over my husband and wouldn't listen to my husband trying to explain the situation. I finally stepped in and told him that we had no communication or updates from them and I had to keep reaching out. Apparently my part arrived late Thursday/Friday and I never once received message of this. If I had, I would've just picked up the laptop and the part and fixed it myself as the deadline was coming close and I understood they also have to deal with walk-ins, but again I received no communication whatsoever til I reached out Saturday. When I brought this to his attention as well his response was "that's an automated message, we don't send those" I requested that he would at least change the wording of said "automated message" he said they couldn't. He then told me that there was no comments on my repair file that it needed to be done by that Saturday. I understand mistakes can happen, but poor communication on their part does not warrant this condescending attitude towards me or my husband when all we were asking for was at least some accountability on their part. All this to say, I'm very disappointed in the treatment my husband and I underwent and from now on, I'll be doing my own repairs instead of trusting their services read more

My wife and I were both in our 60s stop by here yesterday for a new home computer and we were given a lot of help and extra help on which system to buy and also once we had the data switched over from our old system on how to access the different programs that we were familiar with. I had a recent experience at this store that left me feeling very uncomfortable, and I'm curious if others have experienced something similar. I visited with my husband to purchase an item that I had already planned to buy and had the cash for. While I was the one asking questions and making the purchasing decision, the employee consistently directed conversation and responses toward my husband instead of me. Even after my husband clearly stated that I was the customer handling the transaction, I still wasn't addressed directly. It did feel dismissive and not aligned with good customer service. As a customer, I think it's important to be acknowledged and spoken to directly--especially when asking questions and making a purchase. I didn't purchase the item I wanted directly due to this man's behavior. read more

The Apple help desk sent me to the Micro Center because they have Apple certified techs. My seven year old desk top was having issues. I tried to call, but the Center does not take calls (which is weird). I set up an appointment online, which was easy and times were convenient. They were ready for me when I arrived. The techs are all business and don't waste time with pleasantries. The tech was quickly able to determine a workaround to my issue. For $50, I decided to leave the machine for diagnostics to see if they could fix. Kyle worked on my machine. He kept me up to speed through text messages and let me make decisions on next steps. Finally, he learned that there was no cheap fix, but I could still use the machine with the work around. I was super impressed with Kyle and his communication. He was definitely 5 star. I highly recommend the Knowledge Center at Micro Center. They know their stuff and work to find affordable solutions. While I was there, I also picked up some other gadgets. Prices are reasonable but I did need help finding the right stuff. The staff is helpful. There is plenty of parking. read more

Edit:: Upon further reflection, I am going to change my initial rating. Some of the components I was sold, do not fit together. This was a build that one of the associates pushed upon me, so I figured he knew what he was talking about. The commission based atmosphere feels toxic and makes it hard to tell the associate what you are looking for. He upselled nearly every component and when we wanted to change he, it felt like he was arguing. Visited the micro center for the first time yesterday. It was a wonderful experience and a techie dream. They have every aisle labeled to make it easy to find what you're looking for. I bought items to completely make a new PC and everyone was so nice. The gentleman that helped me in the monitor section was great ! I told him the two monitors I was stuck between and he gave me his recommendation. I also didn't know where to get the rest of my supplies so he put me in the right direction to the "build your pc bar" which I thought was really cool. The gentleman that helped me there was also super nice, but kind of pushy. I think I ended up with some items that I would have rather had different. But the setup made it difficult to voice that. And I think he knew I wasn't super comfortable in pc building. All in all, a good time. read more

Was told TO MY FACE that RGB is just a given for components when THEIR OWN PC BUILDER has options to not have LED (I'm epileptic, and the non-RGB is actually cheaper than what they sold me. And is available IN STORE according to THEIR OWN SITE!) The PC also had fans didn't work, AND when I took it back to have the fans fixed THEY DIDN'T give me the power cord BACK! WTF?! If I hadn't gotten the 3 year warranty I would NEVER GO BACK! The service so far has been TERRIBLE! Way to show you just don't care. EDIT: Also, I was told TO MY FACE by the person at their tech desk that they don't support Linux, yet the work note comments I got back tell me to use the program I have on Linux (I have Nobara installed, said program is OpenRGB) THAT DOES NOT SUPPORT MY GRAPHICS CARD YET! I heard about Micro Center from a distant friend. Now I was able to explore this electronic store myself because it is the first one in central Indiana. I am sure they will attract Fry's Electronics customers now that they are not here. This store is still progressing. I heard that they will have their hours posted once they install electronic sliding doors. A few staff were not as knowledgeable as I would expect while others were; I guess typical for any business. They seem to need more cashiers to check out people (even behind me); at each register is a display case of single memory devices you can purchase. I would rate their services as good. I obtained their brand computer memory devices through their flash sale and deal. I would rate their merchandise as great. I was surprised to see that they sell not too inexpensive 3D printers. I like their t-shirts and light up happy face balls. I hope to get to go to their grand opening in a few weeks. read more

I went to this store today looking for a cable and didn't really know what I was looking for. The gentleman from the Apple department was very helpful and patient with me. Although I didn't find what I thought I needed, I took his suggestion and went home and was able to access my WiFi from my old Apple computer! I have to admit that I was a little bit dismissive when it was announced that Micro Center was arriving in the Indianapolis market. I was even more dismissive when it was announced that the arrival would be in the Castleton area. Hadn't Fry's already tried this here? Oh boy, I was wrong. Unfortunately, I ended up having to deal with my cancer journey and missed the Micro Center opening. I finally was able to check it out this weekend and I've definitely had to eat some humble pie. Micro Center is an Ohio-based information technology, communications, and electronic device suppliers. They are equipped to handle sales to both individuals and organizations and they have over 30,000 parts in stock. They are the masters when it comes to supplying parts for those who like to build their own computers. Likewise, you can very often get a computer custom-built here within a day. Plus, it's actually built well. Seriously. Micro Center only has about 25 retail centers nationwide. They're not flooding the market like Fry's tried to do. They're trying to do what they do and do it well. They offer PC parts, desktops, laptops, servers, workstations, monitors, Apple products, a wide variety of services, printers, 3-D printers, televisions, and more. I know. I know. It sounds like Fry's. I get it. It's different. The floorspace is quite a bit smaller. The emphasis on service is MUCH stronger. Everyone I spoke to here could answer questions and knew what they were talking about (you were lucky if you got service at Fry's and even luckier if they actually knew what they were doing). By the time Fry's shut down here, they were trying to be all things to all people. Micro Center is different and it's super refreshing. Also, the prices here are surprisingly solid. Super cheap? Nope. However, you can get a computer whether your emphasis is on affordability or super quality. You can get consultations for free and really plan for what you need. Computer prices range from the low hundreds up into the thousands. They have refurbished and closeout deals. I've yet to buy a computer here having been gifted one during my cancer journey, however, there's no question I will be doing so. If you go in expecting Fry's you may be disappointed. However, if you go in truly wanting a tech store with fair prices, knowledgeable associates, and parts galore, you'll be ecstatic. Welcome to Indy, Micro Center. Many friends recommended that we go to MicroCenter for our PC needs. What started off as a great experience with good customer service turned into a terrible and expensive inconvenience. After driving an hour away, spending over $1,300 on PC parts, driving an hour back, putting it all together over many hours while our baby was sleeping, we were finally able to plug in our new build. Unfortunately, it did not turn on. We worried that we did something wrong, as this was our first build. We even had a friend who has built 3 PCs come check it out. We thought that it could possibly be a fried PSU, but after doing a paperclip test and getting it up and running, we determined that was not the problem. Back to MicroCenter we go. Immediately upon bringing our PC to the service counter, the man at the desk didn't have great customer service. Up until this encounter, everyone had been extremely helpful and kind. This man took a look at it and tried telling us that we plugged a cable into the PSU incorrectly and shot the PSU. If I hadn't already known that the PSU wasn't the problem, he probably would've told us to get a new one and try again, leading to more inconvenience and wasted money. After telling him that was not the issue, he told us we would need an advanced diagnostics test, which we were prepared to pay the $80 for. We dropped it off at 11 AM on Wednesday and didn't hear back until 7:30 PM that night. Turns out we were sold not one - but TWO - DEFECTIVE parts. Both the motherboard and cpu were defective - something that was out of our control completely, according to whoever we spoke with on the phone. Both parts would be replaced, but we would still have to pay an $80 service fee for the tech to replace them. To add to all of this, someone forgot to update our order which resulted in us not getting our PC until Saturday morning. Tell me how that makes sense. I'm sold 2 defective parts by YOUR STORE and STILL have to pay $160 to diagnose the issue and get it fixed. I understand that this is a problem on the manufacturer's end as well, but at the end of the day, you sold me the parts. After explaining this to the supervisor, Ron, at the repair desk, I was only given a $20 discount. The girl who I spoke to at the repair desk was the ONLY person to apologize for what an inconvenience and expense this whole ordeal has been. Needless to say, this was the first and last experience I will have with MicroCenter. If you don't want to waste time and money, find somewhere else. EDIT: Would you believe it if I told you we actually were sold THREE defective parts????? I actually thought I was gonna lose my mind when we FINALLY got everything up and running only to find out that the NVMe was ALSO BUSTED. We replaced it with an NVMe from WALMART, of all places, and it worked. Just go to Walmart, folks. I can't make this stuff up. read more

They did shake our hands when we chose a laptop which I thought was extra but they were excited for our business I guess. They had everything you could think of in terms of computer equipment. I just happened to be over by Micro Center picking up a package at an adjacent business. Decided to go in a look around a bit. Our computer monitor has been slowly dying for a few years so I got sucked in by the huge display of glowing monitors. The prices ranged from under 100$ to in the thousands. I just wanted a basic monitor, I was looking at the lower end and got zero assistance. Most of the products had QR-codes so a little quick research. I ended up with a 27" HD Asus. It didn't have the VGA Cable in the box which I expected. But I was able to use my old one. Easy to hook up and a much much nice display from my 19" 15 year old screen. I was surprised how cramped it felt inside. They must not be using the entire building. Gander Mtn was huge inside. Also the way they changed the entrance is weird from when the building was Gander Mtn. read more

This is the definitive nerd dream destination! A well organized, brand centric, smart and helpful staff, massive variety, decent pricing, and overwhelming options across audio, furniture, computing, gaming, and all between and more stuff in quite narrow aisles but thankfully most us nerds are skinny from running around stores like this like a kid in candy land, well, maybe not skinny kids in a candy land, but you get the idea! It is hard to fault the gauntlet of brands neatly lined, smartphones, microphones, recording equipment, gaming chairs, desktop cases, and too much I didn't have time to wonder past showing like a geek's museum. I don't game as much as I did but felt the Greek god's pull of 128GB ram, gigabyte motherboards, and that full 180° view racing setup. Micro Center has a great location with plenty of parking. I also liked the onsite coffee truck but ended up at a slightly more comfortable Ascend Coffee nook across the street to get some work done. read more

This company has no way to contact them via phone. This means if you want a product they sell, get in your car drive 20 miles to see if they even have it. You get there and sure enough they do not have what you need. When asked why they have no phone they say you can contact us via email. Well isn't that just swell. They are probably on the only business on the F'n planet without a phone. I had to make three trips to their store yesterday. Only one was necessary. The other two were because they think were living in the 18th century. SO i will never step foot in their sore again since Amazon has a phone and deliver right to my door. We wandered to the store, approximately a week after it opened. It was absolutely jampacked, and the deals were also jampacked. We were able to get Assistance with a problem that we were having with our Vizio TV and Verizon wireless Internet. Service was amazing. My husband was able to get his iPhone cleaned so that all the buttons worked again, that was for free! We definitely learned a lot in discussing TVs and I expect a new TV will be put on our Christmas list. This place was a lot more fun to shop than other computer places that we have been to. This business is full of liars. They do not have a phone number listed to all their store to get answers to questions. They have a centralized "call center" (as the employees referred to it) that can only be contacted by email or with a live web chat. I used the live chat to ask whether we need an appointment for the build and learn service, which I was told that I do not need an appointment (and I can't even schedule an appointment) and that I just need to show up and I can do it. Additionally, I asked about the price range for a system using build and learn and they said the lower end of the spectrum would be ~$700. I show up to the store (I drove 90 minutes for this) and they said no I cannot do the build and learn service and that I need an appointment. Furthermore, the salesperson showed me the prices for a computer and the lower end that he showed me was ~$1500 (more than double what I was told by the "call center"). It seems their business model is to funnel all communication through a "call center" that will just tell you anything that you need to hear in order to get you to show up in the store with the hope that you'll spend because you're already there. The sales rep also threw in that he works on commission so obviously those prices are probably inflated specifically by the sales rep and that it isn't an issue with the "call center" not having the "real time information" on prices. They are just a complete liars and will never get a penny of my money and I hope they go bankrupt. read more

TBH, I'm not really into going to brick and mortar stores anyone, we can thank the Amazon overlords for that. But I will admit that it is nice to play with devices, see what else is available in-person and also that instant gratification after purchasing something. Micro center is still a work in progress, I believe this was just a soft opening. We entered and exited through side doors (they are working on the big sliding doors). Micro Center has that warehouse feel when you step through and of course the new electronics smell. They had a lot of sales associates on hand; from what I heard opening week was pretty crowded. The prices on everything was pretty amazing, off brand outlet prices but for name brand stuff! Do they have everything like at a Fry's or Best Buy? No..not yet at least, but it's a great start and I think it'll get better as they finish off the building, space things out a little bit more (part of the building is definitely still not open). My favorite part of the store: all of the 3D printers on display were running and as someone in the market for one and someone who has no idea what to purchase, this was very helpful. I'll definitely be back when the store is fully open. read more

They came through honoring their flash drive deal. I admit, I thought it was a scam.

I went in for a gaming PC, and me and another woman were ignored for over half an hour. I had to go to another section to get service and when I finally got home and tested out the computer it did not function the way expected or had the features I asked for. After looking at the functionality of the PC I found out the was not meant for gaming. It was past the two week return,by the time I figured this out so figured I'd just use the computer for regular functions, however I found myself constantly having to delete my temp files and browser data. I found this weird since this computer supposedly had more memory than my work computer. So I check my specs and find I only have 16GB of RAM memory when I paid for a 32GB. Bad service and sold a lemon, buyer beware. read more

I was happy when MicroCenter opened in Indy. I've shopped with them previously when I lived in another city, and always found them extremely helpful. I recently picked up a CPU/motherboard/RAM package that was on sale at a great price, and had questions about cooling and reusing the PSU from my 10-year old PC that I'm breathing new life into. Josh found me in the aisle and helped me pick out the right heat sink for my new CPU, and helped me figure out if I could reuse the PSU. My build now runs well at 100% load and stays at least 5C below the CPU max functional temperature, which is exactly what I expected. I'll definitely make the drive into Indy to shop there again. read more

I had never heard of micro center before it came to Indy, and everyone swears by it. Im official a convert! I went in for some pc advice, and came out with a brand new custom built pc. Grant G. In the build your own department took literally 2 hours walking around with me, explaining things, working with my budget, and I felt like I was shopping with a friend, not a sales person. Had the pc for a month, runs perfectly, was a huge improvement and the price was absolutely unbeatable. The best customer service experience I've had in my life. Lifelong customer made. They built a custom desktop computer or me within 48 hours, including migration of data from an older desktop (running very well but slower due to age), incidentally, custom built 12 years earlier (2011) by Micro Center in Cambridge, MA, attesting to the quality of the components and workmanship. The technician, Zachery, built the computer and transferred the data. Kevin, at the front desk helped me with technical support afterwards. Both were very professional, knowledgeable and responsive during the entire process. I was so pleased with the quality and service. Cambridge, MA has NOTHING over these guys. I strongly recommend a Micro Center custom built product over a commercial brand for superior quality and service. read more
