I've only used on-line ordering from Mid-America. My stories are as follows: Neoprene Seat Covers for my 2001 Corvette $210. The worst. The fitment was awful. They were not snug at all like neoprene is supposed to be. These weren't even WalMart quality. Horrible loose fitting seat covers. Check out this claim from the Mid America Website: "Tested to withstand over 300 hours of constant UV exposure without losing vibrancy or durability." Not even close. They faded faster than Johnny Manziel's football career. Not only did they fade, they faded into a weird, putrid green color. Cold Air Induction for the same car $180. No where in the description does it mention that the product is NOT 50 state legal. I installed it on my car and it looked and performed great. Right up until I failed a smog test. I had to remove it and return my car to the stock configuration. I sold my $180 intake for $50 to a guy with an off-road only truck. Two stars. Mid America is fine for t-shirts, shot glasses or other logoed merch. For items that you will actually install in or on your cars, not so much. read more

First time to order for my recently purchased Corvette. Shipping time was to be 5-7 business days. After 12 business days was told it would be "about" two more weeks to ship. Cancelled the order. Fortunately I read other yelpers and knew better than wait indefinitely. If something is back ordered I want to know up front not two weeks down the road. Will not order from them again. Well called again and was told it would be a month before shipping. Finally in February it became available, but they didn't have the filter which they deducted from the price. I hate to give this place 1 star but it didn't give me a choice. I had ordered a dash wiring harness for a 78 corvette and it says ships in 3-5 days on Mid America website but was told a week later it comes from a vendor and will ship on a Tuesday, this was the Thursday before . After not getting a tracking number on the day it was soppose to be shipped I called and it was told 2 weeks . I wouldn't take it if they had the last one in the world and they gave it to me . I'm fixing to start another corvette project and will go back to who I used before . Might cost me alittle more but no lies and relieved everything on my first project in a timely manner . I ordered a Rack & Pinion system for my 1968 Corvette on April 1st. 2019. I called Mid America Motorworks Corvettes April 18 to inquire about my order. I was told I would receive it within a week. I told her that I had checked with the factory (Speed Direct) and they said they could not find my order. She then said their supplier was not Speed Direct, but would not give me the name of their supplier. The next day I received an email from Mid America that my order was on back order for 4 weeks. May 20th I again called Mid Amer. and they said I have a new order number, and I would get the order within the week. On May 29th I called Speed Direct the factory. They did confirm that they are the supplier for Mid America on the Rack and Pinion, but they didn't get my order until May 20th. I finally received my order on June 13th 2019. Two months and 13 days. Pretty disgusting that a company will tell you that your order is on its way, when in fact it was never placed with the supplier, until a Month and 20 days later, and only after I was persistent. I have ordered many items in the past from this company, but never again. read more

My brother-in-law owns a corvette and I have tagged along a couple of times to visit Mid-America Motorworks. It is an amazing facility located in Effingham, Illinois. Not only do they sell hard to find parts for folks who repair and restore vettes, they also fabricate old parts that GM may not produce any longer. They also offer parts and equipment for the Volkswagon Beetle. If you own a corvette or have a friend that does, you should plan a trip or visit them on the web. NOTE: I have not purchased from these folks and reading Mac C's review surprises me. I met the owner and he's a pretty passionate guy. My brother-in-law has purchased with no problem. However, we all know you are only as good as you last customer service experience. read more

TERRIBLE, do not purchase This company cannot handle its business. If an item is on backorder it will never reach you, and they will never tell you. I had some switch boots for my 74 super on back order along with some locking nuts for 3 months, they never said anything. I called them after, they said huh, "that's weird" two weeks later they informed me they are no longer carrying the nuts, and I'm still waiting on the boots. Never order a transmission either, took them three months and a week or two to get into me, again no communication on their part. I got my part only after threatening to get a lawyer, as they dodged my calls for about a week cause they didn't have answers to my questions. MID AMERICA MOTORWORKS horrible experience! Beware!!!!!! Hello everyone, I want to share a bad experience I have had with MID AMERICA MOTORWORKS so that you can avoid similar. On 12-1-2016 I ordered a carbon fiber diffuser from them listed at $899 to be my Christmas present from my wife. They said over the phone 2-3 weeks for delivery and will ship 12-20-16. I called on 12-20-2016 to get a status and they said it will ship 1-5-2017, on 1-10-17 I called and they said ship date is now on for 1-30-17. Still no x-mas present, I called the manufacturer and spoke with 2 high level people and they searched for my order and found none, then they told me they have had many problems with MID AMERICA MOTORWORKS because they cannot sell that at the $899 price and have been told numerus times but MID AMERICA MOTORWORKS would not return their calls. I called MID AMERICA MOTORWORKS and asked to speak with the owner Mike Yeager and was told he was busy now so I got transferred to his voicemail and asked him to call me back. No call back, I called MID AMERICA MOTORWORKS again and was told the manufacturer canceled the PO on my order, I then asked to speak with Mike Yeager again and got transferred to his voicemail so I left another message for him to call me back that it is very important. Again, no call back, so I talked with customer service the following day to deliver a message to Mike Yeager that if he does not call me back I will post my bad experience on the corvette forums letting the whole America know how bad of an experience I have had with MID AMERICA MOTORWORKS. 2 days later I saw the price change on their site from $899 to $1,519.99. I waited 4 days now and still no call back from him. This is not good business practices IMO. Maybe this is an isolated experience but obviously not since the manufacturer has also experienced no return phone calls. In summary, for those that never had issues with MID AMERICA MOTORWORKS great for you but for those thinking about buying something from them be warned. For me I will not do business with them again even if they have something a little cheaper than a competitor I will only buy from their competition. read more

Used to be my go to shop for VW parts but that all ended in the past few weeks. While my dad was picking up some parts at their Effingham shop that I had found on Mid America's website. Ordered a reproduction (REP) hood seal and when I got it all of the little fingers that I could see in the picture weren't there. I ended up trying to install it anyways but when I was unsuccessful I called in to get the correct part assuming they just sent me the wrong thing. Well it ends up that the reproduction version of the seal doesn't include the fingers that can be seen clear as day in every picture on their site. They initially did offer for me to just purchase the OEM version since it was my mistake purchasing the REP one. During that phone call I was also told the pictures on the website correctly show that the REP doesn't have the little fingers which after I went back to check was just a straight up lie. After a little over a week and some time spent banging my head against the wall I finally got a refund for my item. The reason I'll be taking my business elsewhere is because if I can't trust the pictures on their own website to be an accurate then why go through the hassle. That and the fact that I had to jump through hoops to get a refund and never once did anyone seem to care that their website is incorrect. read more

Bought an alternator for my corvette project. 2 years and 20 miles later it quits working. Had an alternator shop look at it and said it was a typically poorly rebuilt Delco product and needed $140 of repairs. Paid $7 a mile for that alternator and when I contacted Mid America they said there was nothing they could do. You would have thought they would be concerned that the products they are selling are failing so quickly. Lesson learned - buy local if there is any way to do so and / or buy from someone who cares about the quality of their products. read more

Ordered some TMI panels through them. They somehow messed up the order, and it took almost two months to get one of them from TMI. Of course, TMI built me the wrong panel and then Mid America Motorworks was very unhelpful in resolving the issue. I ended up calling TMI directly and working it out myself. Will avoid them in the future if possible. read more

On black Friday weekend, I ordered some fender accent stripes on-line for my 2004 Corvette Z06. During checkout, I paid for and printed UPS Ground Shipping for my goods. It was delivered 6 days later and MAM used cheaper USPS first class parcel which was around $13 cheaper and they kept the difference. When I wrote the owner, M. Yeager, he never responded. Cant stand it when sellers/retailers overcharge on shipping and pocket the profit to make up the reduced holiday sale prices. Great product but poor on integrity of shipping rates! read more

First off they buy out Rocky Mountain Motorworks, a trusted VW parts business. Then they wont honor any warrenty and discontinue many parts. Next they close their Porsche parts business which I used to buy from. Lastly their Corvette parts are of poor quality. I can buy NOS or better quality repros for the same prices. read more

Wow, I wish I had read these reviews before I ordered something from these guys. I ordered a scat fan shroud for my bus and they ended up not having it in stock, even though their website said nothing about this. The only reason I found out that it was out of stock was by contacting them about it, and they were never planning on letting me know it seemed. I needed the part in a rush so I tried to cancel my order before it shipped but they would not respond to my emails or pick up the phone after this point. TWO MONTHS later, they shipped the order I had tried to cancel and I had already bought another shroud from another company, had it shipped to me and installed with a fresh motor rebuild. Since I couldn't get through to these guys, I figured it would be my option to just return it and eat the $45 in shipping costs and know that I'll never be dealing with them again. After I had sent it back and I knew they received it via the shipping tracking number, I had no response or refund from them. I waited to give them some time but after another two months, still nothing. I contacted them again asked where my refund was and they asked me for my tracking number to prove I sent it. Scary how if I didn't still have the tracking number months later, them having the part (with a return order form authorized by them in the box) with them wasn't enough to give me my money back. Can't say enough good things about Mid America MotorWorks. I recently placed a large online order that included GM factory special order parts and had requested over night shipping. About 30 mins after i placed my order a very friendly lady called and informed me that due to the special order parts that over night shipping would only be possible for a part of my order and told me that i didn't need overnight shipping given my location i would receive it in 1 or 2 days and reduced my shipping charges dramatically. She was right as i received the parts super fast. Now, that is what i call taking care of the customer! I have worked with other corvette parts houses like Corvette america and they were rude, unprofessional and will take you for every dime no matter what. Ordered some license plate covers, a switch and hood release cables February 2012. An astounding $21.00 for shipping. Part of the order was back ordered and was shipped in October. It's now March 11th, 2013 and still no hood release cables. Each time I call they promise the parts will be shipped on some future date. I think Mid America is going bankrupt and is operating hand to mouth. I just called them again today and got the same old future ship date story. Eckler's had the cables in stock this whole time so I canceled my order with Mid America. I'm throwing their catalog away. read more

I recently had a digital dash done through their restoration services. On their list of base services performed was bead blasting the metal back plate. I received the part back with a rusty back plate. I call to find out why and they tell me that service is not part of the base services, so I tell them its right on their website!! they tell me well its a mistake, someone type that in ants an error. so i spent 350.00 for services that were not all performed as advertised!!!!!! what a disgrace! why should I pay for their mistake. I have ordered hundreds and hundreds of dollars through them. I will never spend another penny with this company and I hope you do not as well! I ordered rims for my Corvette and several other items from Mid-America. I was told the rims were not in stock but other ones were that were 3-4 times more. I canceled my order with Kelly who told me that she would cancel the entire order. I than received a last minute notice that part of the order was shipped via the wrong carrier. I immediately Emails Mid-America telling them that I would not be here to received the canceled order. They claim that it was delivered but was not and now are giving me a Very hard time refunding my Visa card. The few Emails that have been replied to avoids the main topics of complaints! Until Tuesday 6.27.20117, they kept telling me a slew of parts were on back order. So I got the names of their suppliers. Bare none, not one of the suppliers had an order related to Mid America or me. I wasted just shy of 2 months for nothing but excuses, lies and gross incompetence. Now they don't have the guts to tell me what happened, won't return phone calls or e-mails. Guess I have some internet posting to make about these losers. This has got to be the WORST place I've ever ordered anything from, and I order a LOT! Spent several hundred on VW parts to keep getting the run-a-round about when items will ship. Ordered in Jan and Feb 2016, told drop shipping takes 2-3 weeks many times! No matter how much I email or call them to tell them it's very important to get updates, they never do, I always have to call them, and only to find out that the prior date given has been pushed back another MONTH!!! It's now April, and yet again, ETA is now end of April!! Who can wait 3-5 months for basic parts?? I ordered from them because they're closest and THOUGHT it would save on shipping cost and time.... WRONG!!! I cancelled all of it, and now order through JBugs, Cip1, and/or Wolfsburg west to get my parts within a reasonable time, even from California to Midwest. I will say though that Connie is quick to respond and does her job well, unfortunately, she has her hands tied and can only check and verify orders. I hate thinking such a hard worker that likely has to deal with a lot of PO'd customers is probably going to be looking for work soon if Mid-America Motorworks doesn't get their act together SOON! I wish I could give ZERO stars! I have ordered merchandise from them several times....(Yes! I am the idiot!)...and there's always something that goes wrong. I have a '79 Super and have bought items that don't even RESEMBLE the original, though it's advertised as being "exact replica" or something of that nature. I have been trying to get a simple car cover, and , unless I want to spend $200-$300+ there is a waiting period of 3-4 MONTHS. Ridiculous! These guys used to be good when they were Rocky Mountain Motorworks. Having not ordered from them for nearly 20 years and not having read the laundry list of complaints here on Yelp and also BBB, I ordered several times. Many parts were of inferior quality, which surprised me since this is not the cheapest vw parts supplier out there. I wouldn't have had a problem with that alone, except that I also have already been waiting 6 weeks for a crankshaft to be delivered. It was not listed as having a backorder or any other issue when they went ahead and charged my credit card. So I started calling about 4 weeks ago, and every time I am told that it is about to ship, or has already shipped. Today I called and was told it would again ship next week for arrival in 2 weeks. No thanks, I don't trust you anymore, and will shop elsewhere for parts from now on. I regret the $1000+ I have spent here so far, but at least it won't be $5 or $10,000. Ordered a new VW engine on Feb. 2, 2015. Today is July 13, 2015. Still have not received my order, which is paid in full. I was told upon ordering it would be 6 to 8 weeks to receive. It has now been 24 + weeks. I call every 3-4 weeks and am told it will ship on the 29th of whichever month I make the call. Very very poor customer service. If you want a product for a vehicle-----my suggestion is to locate another supplier. This one is so far below average at what they do you will be wasting your time dealing with them. read more

Bought a new 1600 cc vw engine for my 1971 superbeetle. Paid for in cash. Took over 6 months to arrive. Since then here is the result. Leaked oil upon insallation. Flywheel on engine was damaged. Distributor has burnt out, causing massive electrical damage to car. Now points keep burning out, and am told the carburetor is bad. This is a new engine and it has cost me over $ 3,000 dollars in labor costs to fix problems with a new engine. The people at Mid America do not care. Purchaser beware is their motto. I have spent hundreds of dollars at Ecklers, Corvette Central, corvette America, etc. over the years and I get a power antenna from Mid America that works when it wants and so I tried many times to just try to get a exchange and nothing in reply. Ordered a jacket from their website. Shipping was free and the price was right. I requested 2 day shipping. As I do not have a secure place at my house for package delivery, I had the shipping address to the place my friend works. Mid-America sent me an email confirmation of the order and had the correct shipping address I requested. The next day I received a USPS tracking # in email. Upon checking the tracking status, it turns out they sent the jacket to my billing address instead of the requested shipping address. When I called customer service, after "checking" with her manager, the girl said there was nothing she could do. She said I could refuse the package and have it returned if I wanted. I pointed out that no one was home that is why I had it shipped to a different address. Needless to say, I will not do business with this company again. If you can't ship something to the right address, you shouldn't be in business. read more

I ordered an item from their catalog and shortly after receiving my order, the item broke. I contacted M/A and returned the item for a replacement. I spoke with no less than 4 or 5 of their customer service reps (sometimes more than once) and each lied to me telling the part was back ordered. This went on for several months until I became fed up. Each time I called, they would give me a new delivery date and no one took ownership. They would not allow me to speak with a supervisor / manager. When I cancelled my order, they did not reimburse me for shipping, after I was told they would. I have used many catalog order companies for my corvette and also manage a call center. I sent them an email via their website explaining my dilemma / issue asking them to contact me. Close to a year later, I never received a response. Their service stinks! I have told all of my friends and am telling you NOT to use them. They do not practice ethical customer service nor do they care about their customers, only their orders. POOR customer service. Customer lost for life as well as numerous poor referrals. There are many alternative parts catalog companies to choose from - I suggest choosing another company. I expected an organization with a "passionate" owner to be more involved.
