Post COVID now, and all the library locations make it easy to access all resources with different needs in mind. Although masks are optional, people do mind their space. I imagine that it would be helpful if you have a disability that makes going inside difficult, or are in a hurry and just want to pick up and return items quickly. I was disappointed though, that this library is so small inside. Although there is a regular library inside, there are basically three parts -- one area with about 10 computers for public use, one area for small kids (preschool-early elementary age) and then a small selection of books. It would be nice if they had tables that could be used for working or a study area for older children, teens, and college students. Still, it's a convenience that they added this West Pasco location. The inside is very nice and new, and even though it is not large there are a few chairs placed so that you can sit and read. Free wifi as well. I guess you can't have everything!

Unlike the library on Union, where it is spacious enough that conversations people are having in the space is easily ignored, you cannot do that here. I visited on a summer afternoon on a Wednesday. Kids were out of school and running around the library. A lady who sat about six feet away from me was actually on the phone, calling to complain to a company about some dress code that had her thrown out of a food establishment. I sat there for a while and couldn't drown out the noise even with headphones on. So I walked around the library. The library staff were doing kids activities in the middle of the library involving cups and things. I guess my point is that it isn't the greatest place to go to if you want to get work done or read a book in peace. However, for a library that small, they did have a wide range of books that I would actually read (although I couldn't find the Steinbeck book that I really wanted). The manga section is fairly extensive for a library of that size. I also enjoyed the artwork sprinkled around the small corners of the library and the staff appeared friendly. When I walked into this library I literally wanted to cry. The selection compared to the Kennewick and Richland branches is pitiful. Their section of novels are so incredibly miniscule and if you blink you'll miss their non-fiction section. They did seem to have a fair amount of computers. Half of their books are in Spanish, which I understand since there is a large Hispanic population but it makes me sad since I unfortunately don't speak Spanish. I tried getting a card at the Richland branch but I have to pay a significant fee in order to check out books that I would be better off just going to the bookstore. Guess I'll just have to be a little less nerdy and not read as much books.

I love the online browsing that allows items to be requested from any branch and transferred to my branch for pickup in a very timely manner. My family loves to read and I'm thankful for a friendly library to visit and explore often.

Granted, I only get my trash can picked up every 4-7 weeks (I recycle like a fiend, BIG TIME!). So I don't live here now, but I did graduate from PHS many moons ago and I vacation here…read moretraditionally every summer as my family still lives in this pretty little gem of a town. I currently work for City government and I know how stressful dealing with the public can be. This summer noticed a few fire hydrants in town that were painted with paw prints on them. I stopped to photograph one for a firefighter who collects hydrant photos and noticed they had ID numbers hand written on them. I thought how fun would it be to find the firefighter's badge number on a hydrant and photograph that for him. I began driving around looking for it which quickly became too time consuming. I stopped into City Hall with my strange request and story, attempting to locate hydrant #158. The ladies at the front were so very friendly dealing with me, and quickly difused an irate water citizen as well. They were unable to locate the hydrant and called a man named Brian in their public works division who they put on the phone with me. My story peaked his interest, he took my cell number down, and sure enough two days later after fit time in his day to day duties, he called me back. He'd discovered the original hydrant #158 was on Wamba Road, and they'd since been renumbering them with a metal tag, and that particular hydrant had been moved directly across the street from Les Schwab on the main drag into town. He wasn't sure if it still had the original stenciled ID on it, but said to call him back if not as he wasn't afraid to use his Sharpie! :) I commend you Prosser officials for having such quality personnel who go above and beyond for your tourists!
