Having throttle body issues replaced my throttle body by myself twice, and still having problems when it is cold out. I brought it into Midas to be put on a smoke machine, and they also checked to see if the pcm was getting the correct amount of power. The service writer, Jayce, is a very decent guy. I am so, so very grateful for how much they helped me today! This throttle body issue has cost me so much money since I got this Jeep Compass, and I cannot afford to keep throwing money away on it. (Beware of A & A Auto sales at 812 Central. He clears codes on vehicles and will tell you it's because he replaced the spark plugs on the vehicle, and you will later find out the spark plugs hadn't even been changed, as well as all the other problems that were wrong that he was trying to hide from you). While traveling from coast to coast it with our pick up truck and 5th wheel and it was time for oil change on pick up truck. I called this Midas, it was easy to get an appointment. The guy at the front desk was nice and as he had a 5th wheel too, we talked about pick up trucks to tow 5th wheels and what is good to have. Maintenance was done quickly and even though on dash of truck it said time to change air filter, they looked at it and were honest and said it was still clean and no need to change it....so they obviously do not do unnecessary work. read more

The part isn't available for 2 weeks the mechanics thought fast and sliced and welded it back together helped our team got us back on the road. I requested an oil change today. The boys at the downtown shop got me in immediately. It did not take too long to get it done, although while Ben, my mechanic was completing my oil change he discovered there was an oil pressure sensor that needed to be replaced, not a big deal but if left unattended could have lead to some pretty costly motor repair. I am thankful he was thorough on even just a simple as a job as an oil change because I'm sure he saved me hundreds of dollars. These workers over at Midas are honest, down-to-earth guys who aren't just trying to scam others. And one other thing, if Ben ends up working on your vehicle, just know it is in safe hands. My daughter entered the shop with our Honda Fit with a non-functioning A/C system (blowing warm air). Rather than a proper analysis of the issue (using simple gauges), this shop claimed the entire system needed to be replaced (condenser, compressor, expansion valve, etc.) to the tune of $2000. Obviously, not all of these parts of the system failed at the same time and with the proper tools it is easy to identify the failure spot. I am out of state and unable to assist her. The tech said on the phone it would take them "days" to find the "blockage". It's disappointing that a national chain would attempt to take advantage of a woman for profit. If you want a muffler or a simple oil change maybe. Anything else, run as fast as you can to a reputable shop. read more

My back driver brake caliper started losing fluid a little since yesterday and I told them I wanted it to be checked out but they decided to take off all four tires and not just that one tire like I asked. They then proceed to wanting to make pay $1,500 for them to work on it and I don't have much money as it is. And they told me it wasn't safe to drive home but I am very careful driving to work and back home since yesterday and today and they wouldn't let me drive it home even tho I'm a very careful and responsible driver. Thanks Dan at the downtown Midas for saving me money and time.I was passing through Billings on the way to Spokane wa I stopped to get an oil change my car was taking into the shop right away after I checked in. A little while later The mechanic Dan came in and told me my front brakes and rotors was almost metal to metal and the rear wasn't far behind I was taken in the back of the shop and Dan showed me with his break pad gage that the pads on the front was gone I was showed all the groves in the front rotors explaining the reason why they need to be replaced Dan also showed me that the back pads was in the last yellow stating that they would need to be replaced soon however if I changed them now it would be cost effective because I wouldn't need to buy new rotors in the rear that the could be turned because they was still in spect I ended up having all the recommended work .Dan finish the job in a timely matter and I was on my way if you are passing through Billings and need work on your car stop at Midas they honest and do great work thanks Dan - Cory C. read more

Any time I got my oil changed there, they showed me a really filthy cabin air filter. The last time, I had mine changed about a month before... I do not smoke in the car, neither is anything else happening to cause that much build-up. I check my air filter regularly. That was a scam, I went ahead and changed it, but I made a note of this! A year ago, I had asked for an evaluation of my front brakes and I was told $260! They had taken down all my wheels and were expecting me to go forth with the job. Well, I didn't. I asked them if I buy the brake pads, how much will it cost for them to install these. They said they don't do that. I asked to have only the front pads replaced, they don't do that either, because their warranty only applies if they replace all the brakes as a package. So I told them that I would think some more because it's a hefty sum. While they were putting the wheels back on, I heard a loud metal being broken type noise. Nobody said anything to me and I couldn't see into the shop. After I left, my steering wheel was popping and jerking while driving. I suspected they did not put the wheels back the right way or they didn't do the balance, as I did not pay for their plot. Actually, not only the balance was not done, but a bolt was broken and left there. That's when I got my front pads and I had them installed for $40 at a decent shop.
