We looked at a few menus and settled on Las Iguanas with their Latin American offerings. The interior was nicely decorated with lots of bright colours and hanging strings of lights to give it a kinda outdoorsy patio look. They do have a very nice patio also but it was too cool to sit out there. I ordered half a rack of Havana Club & Jerk BBQ Glazed Pork Ribs (Fall off the bone individual pork ribs covered in a sticky rum glaze, topped with crispy onion & chilli) from their lunch menu, served with sweet potato fries and coleslaw. It was very good, just the right tenderness to release off the bone easily. Tasty. My three companions opted for a variety of appetizers, including chicken wings, quesadillas, and nachos. It was like tapas style. It was all very good. Their drink menu features Two-for-One cocktails all day so I tried the Rum Runner (Havana Club 3 Yr Rum, blackberry, banana, lime, pineapple, grenadine). It was good! Nobody else wanted a drink so I had them both. No problem! For dessert, we had the Creamy Caramel Cake, Coconut Ice Cream, and the Banana Empanada. Again, these did not disappoint. They were all very good. Good food and good service - that's what makes you come back. So we did. A week later, we made an unplanned trip to Milton Keynes, directly from Paris, to spend a few hours with a dear friend. We all agreed that we had to come back here for lunch. Again, we were not disappointed. This time, a friend and I ordered the Dominican Goat Curry (A spicy Dominican-style goat & scotch bonnet chilli curry with spring onion rice, fried plantain & pink pickled onions). It was very good but I have to say, it was one of the spiciest dishes I've ever had from a restaurant! HOT!!! Another friend had the ribs that I ordered the last time and our fourth diner went the appetizer/tapas route with wings and quesadillas. Despite all the choices within a few steps away, it was an easy decision to come back here. Again, tasty food and good service wins!

The Prince Albert in Bradwell Village, MK is probably one of my favourite venues to watch a local…read morelive band play. It's a pub with a fab atmosphere, and when there's a band on it's crowded and busy and everyone's having a great time and a laugh and just generally enjoying themselves. I know my husband who plays in the local band Psycho Mojo really likes the place too, when he comes off stage from doing a gig here he's on a real high from it because the crowd really get involved and enjoy themselves. We both enjoy seeing other bands play there too, and I don't think there's been a weekend evening when I've been in there and not spotted someone I know there! Fab place with real atmosphere and a great attitude.

So they offer nice steaks, fish, poultry all from local sources. They serve on hot plates '440 c' i was told so they sear the meat in the kitchen and then let you cook it yourself. Which is a nice concept if not a little lazy and self protecting as this way the customer is responsible for the cooking so a piece of pricey steak is never returnable no matter how it was ordered. Overall it's not a bad chippy although I have to say there are definitely better but they're further away. We always get a large chips to split between us because they're portions are pretty huge (specially at the end of the night if they've loads left!!!), and we've had more than one occasion where there have just been so many that we've had left overs even doing it this way. I do find their batter a little bit too greasy to be honest, but then I generally don't buy anything battered so that doesn't really matter to me. They do lovely chips though, really nice soft ones what I call proper chip shop chips.

I usually only use the shop to order Chinese takeaway, although I have tried the fish and chips. The portions are generous and the standard is good but not great. The Chinese food is of a similar standard and portions again are good. It is reasonably expensive, but the service is good and my order is always ready within 15 minutes of calling them. I would recommend the sweet and sour chicken and the beef chow mien.

Before my op to remove my gall bladder, I really had no choice about eating low fat food - it wasn't a case of being picky, it was a case of if I ate anything with too much fat in it, I got VERY ill. Of course this made eating out pretty darn hard to do, and believe it or not, Mcdonalds was one of the few places across the country where I KNEW with absolute certainty I could find something that was safe for me to eat. Ok, I had to avoid the fries, but I did have a choice of several salads, one or two chicken based burgers, and they even do a blueberry muffin that is low fat!!! (Incidentally it's one of the nicest blueberry muffins that I've tasted, so goodness knows how they do it!). I think the turning point for Macy D's was when they got slated in the news after that chap did his thing of eating nothing but fast food - supersize me I believe it was called. It was at this point that they seemed to start changing what they offered, and brought in things like fruit bags, fresh fruit juice, and various salad options. For me personally, it means that if we are in town and fancy a bite to eat, (even now I've had my op), I'm generally more tempted to go to Mcdonalds than I am to somewhere like KFC or Burger King, or even places like Nandos, because I feel like I'm having a tasty 'fast food' meal, but without the issues of it being unhealthy like there are with all the others. I think if I had kids, I'd certainly be much happier taking them here than to BK's.
