It's been years since I've been behind a wheel, but I learned new tips through Jill's patient and gentle instruction. I am a student at this school and it is unreal how poorly managed everything is. This is not…read moreadvertised but the HVAC program is student taught, meaning the teacher himself does not actually teach the curriculum. The students are expected the teach each other the material via pre-made power point where we are covering one to two units per day (due to the class being too short to cover the whole book in a reasonable manner). So obviously no one is retaining the material. There is barley any hands on work its all "taught" through power points. I have been here 6 months and we have only brazed (one of the most important skills in HVAC) two times due to the school just not bothering to order gas for the torches. If you want to get into the HVAC field just pay 80$ to take the EPA 608 test yourself, its the same certification the school is training you for and is needed to work in the field. You can find resources to study for the test online yourself way cheaper than 13K. I will be notifying the state board of education about this as well.

This little shop is located in the 'uptown' area of Oxford, where all the other shops and restaurants are. First you walk into the small shop and see the walls lined with pottery. There are pieces mixed in that are already pre-made, these are nice because they give you some ideas and show you what the finished product looks like. There are a variety of different pottery pieces to choose from. Some of the finished items didn't have a corresponding pottery item to paint on. This may have been because it was family weekend and they were especially busy, regardless I was a little disappointed that I couldn't find exactly what I wanted. Tables are set up, and if you make a reservation, they will have table laid for your name written on the paper covering it. There are tips on the tables if you are new to this. But other than that..it's just paint away at your own discretion. It's a fun experience if you are with a good group of people. I could see how it would also be a calming and even therapeutic experience if you go on your own. They do let you bring your own drinks and provide cups to drink out of. We brought a bottle of wine. Also keep in mind that it takes 7 days for your piece to be ready, so if you don't live in the area you will want someone that can pick it up for you. They do offer shipping though.

Paint nights have been pretty popular the last couple years, and this is a twist on that. Saw the sign out on the sidewalk a couple months ago and followed them on Facebook. Of course being The Lion King fan I am, I saw this event of "Jungle King" and had to go. Went step by step how to pain Simba on the tree (the one Rafiki paints). It was a 1.5hr event for the 8x10, and we finished a little before that. The owner was amazing, has a great sense of humor, and overall very helpful in completing your masterpiece. The establishment itself has a lot of paintings on the walls, beautiful and creative-- that you could decide to do during their business hours. Literally, during their hours, as long as they do not have a class going on, you can come in, grab a canvas and some paint, and paint whatever your heart desires. They will be around to help if you have questions (they do not paint it with you but can offer advice etc). Or, just paint whatever you want! The possibilities here are endless! For their events/classes, find them on Facebook!! They usually have something every week. It was very easy to RSVP online and pay for the tickets (which was $10 for 8x10 for this particular event) and the price is VERY reasonable!!! They get sent to your email, then you just show up on the day, give them your name and # of people that are going to paint, and paint away! They also have the option of calling and booking a private event for up to 30 people. This would be a great ladies night out or a fun way to spend time with friends, family, or co-workers. I will DEFINITELY be back here again, can't believe I didn't try this sooner!
