I am sooooooo happy with them - it's been years since I didn't HATE my bank (BofA, Chase) and I forgot what customer service is and what it means when your bank cares about you. Every aspect of working with them is a plus. I cannot think of any negatives at all, really. They also have a free coin sorter, extended hours cold drinks, lollipops and cookies for my dogs! They have helped me with domestic and international banking and EVERY issue I have brought in has been resolved with concern and awesome followup. Remember when you LIKED your bank?? Staff is always politely and half ass informing you of certain policies. If I opt out of overdraft...why is it I'm seeing not only a overdraft, the overdraft fee, an a extended over draft fee? Totaling $60. I asked for a copy of the letter I signed that stated I opted out of it and they stated "if it's and ACH withdrawal, we will charge you overdraft fees but your unable to use your debit card for overdraft. I bank with them two years ago, and decided to switch banks because I had a car loan thru that bank. Overall not bad while I was with them but it's two years later and I've tried to close my account 5 times. Ive go in person and called over the phone as they requested to close these accounts. They say it's closed and then it still hitting my credit. I tried calling and they can't verify me because I don't have the fucking card number. Iso pissed at this bullshit. Horrible service. 1. Pay your CC bill it will take up to (not an exaggeration) 5-7 days for them to declare it payed. So if you use it regularly. You will be locked out of those funds for 5-7 days 2. I called to make an appointment to open new accounts with an opening balance of more than $20K. The first time I called a person whose named sound like Bryce or Bryson put me on hold and after 20 minutes of holding came back on and apologized saying he got busy. I asked to leave a message for a Banker to call me. He said he would leave the message for Jay. After waiting three business days I had not received any call from anyone at MidFirst Bank. Then, I called again and left another message with the person that answered to have a banker call me about opening a new account. I asked the name and the person said he is a Teller and will leave the message. Another week went by. I did not hear from MidFirst Bank at all. I had closed my account in September. In October, a payment was submitted and paid, not authorized by me. Instead of denying the payment, these morons paid it and then started charging me fees. There was so much incompetence dealing with them. A rep called me and starts talking to me like we had established dialogue happening for awhile. She sounded like she did me a huge favor in getting the fees waived and all I had to do was pay the unauthorized amount. Yes please, can I find time to get to an inconvenient location? I have been with Midfirst Bank for over two years now and LOVE them. Their customer service is the best around - bar none. I am getting 2% on my checking account balance and I don't have to have a huge balance in it. All I have to do is have direct deposit and do 12 credit card like (use my Midfirst debit card as a credit card) transactions a month. I get more interest (2%) on my checking account that some people get on their 6 and 12 Month CD's without the hassle of locking up my funds. No ATM Fees, Sunday Hours, Extended Weekly Hours, Beautiful, well designed, elegant bank facilities! What's not to like! They are NOT a publicly traded bank that is beholding to stockholders and Wall Streets quarterly whims. Being private allows them to move quicker in the marketplace and keeps the business focus on what is important, the customer service. Old school, big banks forget that banking is just a service, a commodity offered by many different providers and that the service to the customer is the key to great long term profitability of the bank as a whole. A bank that focuses on "great customer service" will see they bottom line (i.e.profit) increase just like their number of customers. A bank that focuses on the "bottom line (i.e profit)" will fight to retain customers because they are focused on the wrong part of their business. read more

I have a mixed opinion of this bank. They do try to be helpful, and they are open longer hours of any bank I have seen, but i think their knowledge of various topics that they should know about is lacking. Where should I start? So when we opened our account a few years ago, one of their selling points was that you could get personalized credit cards. We liked that because you could actually place your picture on your credit card if you liked. Their credit card offered also worked with Apple Pay. The credit card was managed by a third-party bank called First Bankcard. Fast forward to about a month or two ago, when MidFirst decided to take their credit cards and process them in-house, presumably to save them money. There was no option to keep the old account, they would close it and open a new credit card account with them. We received an email telling use that they would handle the conversion for us. O.K. We get the new cards with new credit card numbers, so i need to update all my accounts, we loose the pictures we had on the cards, and Apple Pay doesn't work. I get my first MidFirst credit card bill and see late charges and interest charges. Hmmm, since it automatically pays the full balance every month, why over $100 in charges? To make a long story short, they didn't transfer over my auto-payment from my checking account, but when we ask them at the local branch, they know nothing of this. I ask about the Apple Pay to the teller, and she says it is working for their credit card. I try it, and it doesn't work. So we come into the branch, and they spend 20 minutes calling the credit card side of MidFirst. They say it will work in 15 minutes. The next day we try it, and it still doesn't work. So we call MidFirst, and we are now told it will not work for another month. As I say, they try to be helpful, but it seems like most people working there are just not informed of the most basic information occurring in their bank. Maybe they need some company newsletter of something, because most people working there seem to have about as much bank knowledge of bank operations as a new employee who started earlier that same day. I could go on and on, but what I see overall is very friendly people who know very little about the bank they work in. At the least this bank should require that all employees at least have an account in the bank so they can have just the slightest appreciation for what a real customer might experience. Just a thought. UPDATE 8/12/15: Lowing my rating to one star. We are still owed over $100 late fees and interest because of THEIR error. We went into the bank one month ago, and they assured us that this would be correct in a day. It wasn't. Several weeks later we called them and and after a run-around, we were assured AGAIN this would be corrected. We were even give a confirmation # for the FIX. We'll a WEEK later, still no credit. And again, this problem initially was caused by their neglect when taking our credit card in-house and not also transferring our autopay, which WE were never consented to in the first place. I actually went to the location on Scottsdale/Shea but wanted to give a shot out to the AWESOME experience at this bank. I have been with Bank of America (eek) for years and have finally had enough with their charges of $29 per month for my business account. After some online research went into this location and worked with Kenny, who was amazing (all while under the weather). He was quick and polite and really helpful. You will feel like you are amongst family with their nice and polite customer oriented ways, not just another number FOR SURE. I am so pleased to make this switch and cannot wait to do eveything through them all for FREE!!! read more

Nothing but headaches and charges with this bank. My rent check cleared once but then was declined causing my landlord to serve me with an eviction notice. Adding $150 in late rent and my landlord not accepting any more bank checks from me. Money Orders from there on.When i looked in my account, the money was put back in my account and all along I was in California from Phoenix and unable to get my cash because when i used my debit in California, Midfirst thought it was stolen. Unable to pay for food, gas and other necessities i spent hours on the phone with my bank trying to get all my cash out to get my wife cash through Western Union so she can pay the rent. The Bank Manager assure me I can only get $500 cash from any ATM since there are no Midfirst in California. NOPE! only $260 cash withdrawal and even then my card was put on hold because i tried to get $500 cash causing me to call bank again and then telling me to call corporate to get help. I was then told to withdrawal $260 out of ATM and buy something somewhere and get cash back with a purchase. NOPE! was declined once again and had to call the headquarters again to take that hold off. Very frustrating. I talked my wife and son into banking with them aswell and get $25 per person. But it takes 90 days to get that money. I waited 4 months and nothing. I even brought that up to the bank manager when he assured me about the $500 withdrawal he was so sure of. Hetold me to call and ask headquarters. But they are very quick to hit you up with charges and overdrafts! Just got back in town and went down to the bank and canceled my account. Even then they told me i couldn't close it because there were still a transaction pending from the previous day when i took all the rest of my money out before they hit me with any other more charges. My wife had her own issues herself and her card was declined at the grocery store having money in her account. Embarrassing and frustrating!! Im going back to Chase. Never really had any problems with them. I only signed up with midfrst because they opened 7 days a week and was open till 7pm. Never got that money i was promised for bringing in more clients! Got nothing blame for talking them into banking with them. Stay away from Midfirst Bank. read more

They used to have great and friendly teller service but now the tellers are understaffed because of the high volume of drive-thru customers. The credit - debit card department is the worst. 2 of my cards would not work so after calling and telling me to go through the drive-thru (because of Covid closure) to get resolved I was told I need to speak with one of the bankers in that department. 3 phone calls and 2 days later I was told a new card had been issued and would be rush mailed. 3 weeks later no card and another 2 phone calls. I made an appointment to get a new card inside the branch and finally obtained it. The card failed to work first time-just like the original! Went into the branch today to only stand in line for 17 minutes without getting helped. I was acknowledged by the line teller after 5 minutes but none of the other employees bothered to make eye contact or acknowledge me or the 2 other customers behind me. 2 employees were chit chatting in a side office, 2 were actually helping customers, and the others were just walking in and out of offices. I don't have time to waste like they do so I started walking out and noticed mr. chit chat walking by and told him "You just lost me as a customer!" Without breaking stride, turning his head, or hesitation he replied "sorry to hear that" and walked away! Good riddance! read more

I have had a great experience here. The only service that I use is their banking. I see a lot of negative comments about the credit card services, so I can't comment on that. But if you simply need a place to deposit your money and use basic services, I would highly recommend trying MidFirst Bank. This branch in particular, in Kierland, is open later in the evening which is important for me as I work long hours. The staff is always courteous and I have never had to wait more than 2 to 3 minutes at the counter. Usually, they are able to help me right away. read more

My Mid First account was l hacked 5 times with in a six month period with unauthorized purchases. So i have had to replace my debit card on each occasion. My first few stops included long waits & longer application forms. But 20 minutes after I walked into MidFirst Bank at 64th St & Scottsdale Rd, I had opened a checking account. Erica asked a few questions and suggested the perfect account for my needs. She set up my direct deposits on the spot, and she provided me with a debit card & a sheet of checks. Trying to make a payment on a credit card from this place has been nothing but a disaster! They do NOT have an option to pay on-line unless you have an account with them. I finally got the number to pay by phone. It took me several tries to make a payment by phone; it kept cutting me off in the middle of saying or entering my account number. I've spent way too much time just trying to make a monthly payment! WARNING TO THE WISE: DO NOT GET A CREDIT CARD with this bank UNLESS you have an account with them. Making payments when you don't live by a branch is horrible. They are way behind the times with on-line payment options. It's easy to give 5 stars when things are going great and the true test is how do they when the customer needs real service. I have a checking and money market with MidFirst. I opened the accounts in 2011 when relocating to AZ. When I moved out of state a few years after that, I decided to keep the accounts because mobile banking was an option. Their ATM refund policy worked well for me as there was no physical bank in my current state to visit to withdraw cash. A couple of months ago there was fraudulent activity on my account. I received electronic notification (no call). I then called the number provided. It all checked out there was fraudulent activity and the debit card needed to be cancelled. The fraud department did that. To get a replacement card I would have to call a different number. The same department can't reissue a replacement card!? I called but they were closed (no extended hours to assist with accounts that have had fraudulent activity. I called back and they said it would be 7-10 business days before receiving a replacement! I explained my situation that the debit card was the only method I had to access cash. It was suggested that I call the branch where I opened my acct to see if there was an exception for waiving the expedited fee of $40! I called the branch and the manager is absolutely the most stubborn and unhelpful person I have worked with at Midfirst. It truly did not matter to him that I was out of state and was without cash and would be for 7-10 days. Although the fraudulent activity was not my fault MidFirst's process and lack of consideration for the circumstances was of no interest to them. read more

How can you not give this bank a 5-star? It opens on Sunday, most banks don't. It extend their business hours Mondays thru Fridays, most banks don't. It gives you unlimited uses of other banks' ATM and reimburse you with the fees, again, most banks don't give you that options at all, unless you have a lot of money in their bank and they maybe will give you 1 to 2 times free monthly. Every employee is beyond fantastic and their hours are not to even being close to being competed with. I will be switching banks as soon as I get back to the USA. I told the bank I would be traveling to two different countries and I need my cards to work. They did not, so I had to make an internation call to get then activated to use overseas. They did activate them and two days later they stopped working again. Then an ATM took my card and displayed a message card retained call sumitting bank. This left me stranded in china with no card. Lucky for me I had friends to bail me out. read more

Don't open an account here.I have a credit card through Midfirst I keep for emergencies.I called to make a payment and the automated system wouldn't allow me to , I talked to a customer service representative who said there was a block on my account ? I wanted to know why and what is going on with my account two hours later and after being transferred back and forth I was told my account was closed .What ? They said on November 30 I had went in one of the branches and spoke with Justine and closed my account. I told them it wasn't me I had never spoke to Justine or anyone else and had never closed my account. I want to know how this happened . Another hour later transferred around again apparently Justine had mistakenly closed my account due the other person had a similar name as mine.This is ridiculous how does this happen is there no security measures put into place . MID FIRST BANK CREDIT CARD Customer Service is the WORST!!!! Credit card was hacked on Saturday and was informed of this. Called Fraud Department and was told a new card would be expressed and it would arrive on Tuesday. Tuesday came and passed. Called 866-762-0492 - talked with three people and all told me it should arrive on Weds., but they did not have a tracking number and they had me call the bank and then customer service at 888-643-3477 and was passed to three more people and was told again it was expressed again but no one had a tracking number and was told to call my bank again - seriously. I demanded a manager and he came on the line and told me the card had been sent out regular mail! Insane. Lied to by 5+ separate people. So now I supposedly will get a call with a tracking number tomorrow and the card is being expressed. HORRIBLE SERVICE and continual stupidity throughout the credit card calls. read more
