I highly recommend this school. The receptionists are very polite and nice on the phone. I had Bob for my instructor. He was very patient and helped me with reverse parking and parallel parking. I called to scheduled my appointment and spoke with a male (Tony)- sounded like the owner. He was so kind, talked to me about the process it was amazing. On the day of my appointment (9:00) no one showed up, it was snowing so I though, maybe they are late. I waited until 9:30 when the office opened and said "I had an appointment and no one is here yet, just wanted to check in". The women on the phone had a very rude tone and said. "Well your payment didn't go through so we weren't going to send someone with our payment. We called you and your husband and left you both voice messages." I let her know that I didn't have any missed calls or voice messages and that my husband did have a missed call from them but no voice message. She said "well I know there were messages because I personally left them, so we weren't going to send anyone over. We gave you until yesterday to call us back, and because your payment didn't go through, we aren't going to schedule anything with you" I responded saying,"I can see why you would think I wasn't interested if you said you called and left messages and didn't hear from me, however, no messages were left so I had no idea you still needed payment or what you cancelled my appointment". [I was trying to be understanding, while still being confused about these so called message]. I continued and asked if we can move forward with scheduling something in the future. She said "Well you would need to pay the missed appointment and pay for a new appointment and because your card didn't go through, I REALLY doubt you would want to do that". I said, "I was willing to pay for both appointments but because your tone was rude and condescending and the customer service your providing me is uncalled for" I added "when I called and scheduled my first appointment, the man I spoke with was wonderful" then she said, "yeah, he called and left the message with your husband" so I responded "BUT you said you personally left both messages". She continued to be rude to me and speaking to me as if I didn't have the funds to pay them so how could I possible be interested in them. Midway, do yourself a favor and get a new "office manager"! Who by the way when asked for her name she said it was "office manager" and when asked to speak to her supervisor she continue to say that she was "the office manager". I had a terrible fear of driving for over 6 years, to the point where I had stopped driving all together. My instructor Pat helped me over come all of my fears of driving and my confidence grew in each lesson, allowing me to learn how to finally become a safe driver. If it were not for Pat and Midway Driving School, I wouldn't have been able to overcome my incapacitating fear of driving and I wouldn't be able to function on a day-to-day basis like I am today. I highly recommend them to anyone who is a nervous/anxious driver. read more

I had been really terrified of driving. I had my permit for about five years and had come to accept the "fact" that maybe I just wasn't capable of learning to drive. However, taking only public transportation isn't really feasible where I live. I was really hesitant to try professional lessons because of my anxiety about driving, but someone told me there's a driving school specifically intended for nervous adults and ESL speakers, so the instructors specialize in being patient. So I looked it up and found Midway. My first lesson I started out shaky, automatically terrified. Every driving experience I had had until that point had ended with me crying out of sheer anxiety. But the instructor was very patient, starting me out in my neighborhood where I could drive slowly and get used to it, helping me practice turns and whatnot. By the end of the lesson, I actually felt pretty okay. Midway has a package where you sign up for 7 hours of lessons, 2 regular two-hour lessons and then the last one is more practice/review and then they take you to do your road test. I asked my instructor if he thought that would be enough practice or if I should do more, because again, I had wondered before if I was even capable of it. He told me that he thought I could sign up for the package and I would be able to pass the test. To my surprise, he was right. I learned to drive the freeway, park, and even to drive on the snow and ice. I never even thought I would be able to get my license, but in the end, I passed on my first try. Both of my kids received their behind-the-wheel instruction from teachers at Midway Driving School. Not only did they really enjoy the lessons, but both of them passed their license exams on the first try. The instructor made them feel at ease behind the wheel, made sure they experienced a variety of driving situations/environments, and gave them a last lesson before heading to the DVS exam station. I highly recommend Midway for anyone looking for a school that ensures that even nervous students will be successful in their efforts to learn practical driving skills and in getting their driver's license. read more

I've had 2 bad experiences in a row with Paula the Receptionist. She was combative 02/06/2017 around 10:30 am when I asked what time my instructor was coming and expressed that I didn't know the name, in a disgruntled fashion- Paula moans "I'll just CHECK through all these names HOLD". Today, after having a less than satisfactory and dangerous lesson(such as brakeing in the middle of an intersection, even though the turn was safe to go) I give Midway Driving School a call and reach Paul again at 10:04 am (02/07/2017) and try to explain that I felt that my lesson was not productive and my instructor was well equipped to help me learn, before I could finish my concerns- I was cut off and received a combative response in an angry tone diminishing the situation she was not a part of. I'm concerned for Paula's health and I feel as if she is doing the business more harm than good. I've paid $460 for lessons, been respectful as I could be for someone who got screamed at by an receptionist. I asked for the Owner, she said Tony didn't have a number, I asked for the email address, she gave me the website link and told me I can go on there to get it. Take your money else where! read more

I'm not sure how many great things I can say about Midway. They are just wonderful. My son just passed his driver's test yesterday.He had taken it 5 times before going to Midway. He has severe anxiety and trouble taking tests. Each time he failed the test was harder than the last. We were so confused and the rude state examiners are useless at helping. I called Midway and spoke with the owner at least 5 times, each time he answered all of my questions patiently. He was knowledgeable and kind. My son's instructor was Peter, who was just great. Yes, Midway is expensive but you get what you pay for. You can't put a price on a driver's license anyway. It is just priceless! We are just thrilled. Can't say enough how happy we are. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE. I called to learn more about what their services entailed (ie: what is included in a 2 hour lesson, etc). The receptionist that answered was so rude, condescending, and unhelpful that i'm surprised they would let someone with such horrible customer experience be the face of their company. She did not take the time to explain what the services were and what I, as a customer, can expect. Her condescending tone indicated to me that she was just wasting her time. After my call with them, i knew right off the bat i would not be selecting this driving school. I called Silverlake Driving School and they were responsive, courteous, and helpful, so that's where I'll be taking my business. Just a tip for midway driving school, get someone who actually has good customer service to greet potential customers. If you don't, it's apparent in what kind of company you are. read more

When i called on 3-23-2017 thursday around 4:45pm the gentleman on the phone was very informative and nice but there was a problem with where i lived and they said they would call me back the next day. I didnt receive a call so i called the next day right before they closed. The lady on the phone was by far the rudest guest service representative i ever talked to. She yelled at me on the phone, she cut off in the middle of my sentence to say "well, i understand what you are saying but it is your fault that and that is on you if your lessons are spread out because you said you are only available on mondays". I had my mind set on taking my lessons with this school but i completely changed my mind. The way i was treated was extremely rude and unacceptable when i was just politely trying to get information. I do not recommend this school at all, it looks like they can not control their employees. read more
