J Shepherd Construction removed the windows, repaired the rotten wood damage, made trim to match what I had, and completed the sheet rock repairs. They didn't price gouge me like the other guys, and when something came up that more issues were discovered, I received a call and photos right away. They clearly explained my options and let me make the decision. The 2nd project I called them on was a project another contractor started and I had to call off before it was completed. The other contractor just kept running up the bill. Everyday it went up more and more. Finally I threw in the towel. The only solution they gave me was to sheet rock my entire 2nd floor. I called J Shepherd Construction and explained my situation. He came and took a look. He quoted me what it would take to do what I wanted done. The disaster I had was with my old house plaster and lathe. I had the windows replaced at this property and some of the plaster and lathe had pulled away. I was offered options. On the option I decided, he stayed at exactly what he quoted me. I am actually pretty sure it was less than I expected due to him having to run all the way to Menards (30 minutes from my house) because the last contractor didn't have enough material for the job they had me pay them for. Set on replacing our furnace and central air this spring we started asking friends & family for recommendations while we also started collecting quotes from the more well known local businesses. The most positive reviews we were provided were for Rob Hill. What surprised us was that he also had the most reasonable bid. That is not something you normally experience. In fact we were so surprised we asked around some more as it just seemed to good to be true. Sure enough, every customer we could find had nothing but praise. So we decided to give them a shot. Rob and his son arrived, removed the old units, installed the new ones, and had us up and running in no time. In fact far less time than we expected. They were fast, efficient, and professional. Better yet the units work amazingly well and are very quiet. They even came back a couple weeks later to make sure everything was still running smooth. I was working in my yard, trimming some bushes and pulling weeds when Austreim's truck No. 39 pulled up. I was filling my wheelbarrow from the street, where I had raked my cut branches and leaves, for easy pick up. The truck blocked my back driveway, the driver got out after a couple minutes in the cab, it looked like he was on his phone. He drug his application hose to the north side of my property and started spraying my yard. I had a garden hose out with a tractor sprinkler in the back yard, which I got out of his way. My back yard is pretty big and he got about half way to my house when we passed each other as I was on my way to dump my wheelbarrow of yard waste. Not a peep out of him. As I was in flip flops, shorts and a tank top, I went back to where I was working on the east side of my property, via the west side of my house, so as to avoid walking in the wet grass where he had just sprayed. I could smell the drift of the yard application as there was a light north breeze. He started spraying just a few feet north of where I was working and I tried to get his attention by yelling "HEY" once, then twice, then a third time. He removed an ear bud from one ear and said, "You don't have to yell." I asked him not to spray where I was still working after I responded with I tried to get your attention three times. He said he was just trying to do his job, which I interpreted as, "get out of my way!" He was going to continue to spray my yard where I told him I didn't want him to, when I told him to leave. He was a rude little prick and acted like me working in my own yard was a huge inconvenience to him. He wouldn't leave so I went to get my cell phone in the house and told him I was calling the cops. I called Austreims' Brookings office instead and reported the incident to a woman on the line. I am done with them! Why can't I give zero stars?

I contacted Perrys Electric about installing a mini split system in my house. They came to look at…read moremy property, we come up with a basic plan and they gave me a quote. Once I accepted their quote they were able to order the equipment and start the install. The equipment took about two weeks to arrive and they were able to start the installation process right away. The overall time it took them to install the mini split system, which consisted of the outdoor unit and three indoor units, was three days. I was very surprised at how quick the equipment came in and how fast they were able to get it installed. The quality of the installation was excellent and they were able to run and install everything the way I envisioned. They also cleaned up very well after themselves. All the technicians were very knowledgeable about the system and were able to answer any questions that I asked them. The only negative thing I have to say about them is that they were not the best at keeping the customer up to date or giving them information about the system without the customer having to ask for it themselves. The negative comment is a personal one that I felt, but might not matter for other customers. I am just a person that likes to know what is going on and how to take care of proper maintenance tasks, so I am always asking questions. As long as the customer comes up with all questions beforehand to ask them about the system, then there will be no issue at all as they are extremely knowledgeable about their work. Overall I would give them 4.5 stars due to the lack of information given to me without having to ask for it. Going off of their installation alone gives them 5 stars and I would recommend them to anyone.
