When asked where to go the only place that came out of my mouth was OSF. I'd like to share my care story here, with only 1 dr named, so to help others. While in the ER I was left in a room alone for a long time. I had a neck brace on and the lady that left me did not make sure I had a call button. While my family was waiting in the waiting room for 2+ hours bc they were told I was having pictures taken, I was stuck, in my little room, alone. Why was this a problem. I couldn't stop throwing up. I could hardly move to the side to clear the neck brace. I was scared. I cried for help, no one came. The door was closed and it was so loud in the work area, no one heard me. The hours to come would bring students that were fast moving and while I'm sure they are smart people, bed side manner is not their strong suit. I was treated as if I wasn't there. Spoken to as a child. Moved in harsh, strong and painful ways. All unnecessary. There were two young men that came in to make sure I wasnt bleeding internally, smeared so much cold jel all over me and then left me in the room fully exposed, covered in jel, feeling worse than ever. I remained that way for 45 min until the nurse came. While I continued to not understand much, I was told to go home and go back to work on Monday. Monday? Yes, Monday- just take the meds. I drive children around and they want me to "take meds, just no driving while using" What?? Crazy. But I guess it's too much to ask what someone does or needs or even if they have questions. The months after have been no better. Doctors with OSF have been either rude and dismissive (Dr Pegg) or could literally care less (Dr Maxey) . I am a number moving through the system at OSF. I realize we live in a busy time and a world where it's all about the buck and all about speed and self research- but at some point, there needs to be CARE AND CONCERN. Please, if you are considering OSF, just look into other options first. From hearing about parties the nursing staff was going to or being asked did I really want an X-ray, we all deserve better! Just sharing so that others that feel this way know they aren't alone and those that haven't felt this, well, maybe you can avoid it by going elsewhere. Good health to all.
