Think about the worst car salesmen you've ever met (slimy, lying, shifty, etc). Whatever you're picturing, these guys are worse. I owned 2004 Discovery that I loved. I was ready to purchase a new LR4 and trade it in without hesitation. The salesman they hooked me up with was so slow, insulting and condescending that I walked out. Spent 40 minutes walking back and forth to "the bosses office". Offering me the same price three times cut up three different ways. Apparently I'm dumb enough to fall for that one. I absolutely wanted the car. They couldn't sell it to me. I drove over to the MAG Audi lot and purchased an Audi Q7 that afternoon. A week later the LR salesman called and asked if I was interested in a LR2. Too late, and not the car I wanted. read more

When I took my m6 there, First day I went there I said I heard you guys have an excellent customer service and she give me a look and said do you have your insurance card? No smile no thank you very cold and unprofessional! My car was damaged due to water and I swear on everything no lie, they made me look like a liar and told the insurance company that my issue was common and they don't think it's from going throw high water! Anyways I asked them how much for my car to be fixed which it was the "abs pump" and they said 4k I took it to Dayton and they fixed it for 40% less What a rip off. I wish I could give 'em a variable 2.5-4 stars. I have not bought a car from MAG, but I have taken my Porsche in for service and have also bought parts (I like working on my car). To be honest, the service workmanship I've received there is stellar and the mechanics I've talked with have been conscientious and kind--they are very good at repairing cars and they should be for the price. My gripe is with their parts pricing. They specifically price their parts well above MSRP which never ceases to surprise me. I had a parts manager confirm that they mark parts up over suggested retail a couple years ago. Example: This past week I needed a specific part which has an MSRP of $74 at any Porsche dealer nationwide. Byers Imports across town didn't have one in stock, but gave me that same price and could have it in a week to ten days. I reluctantly called MAG and they did have it. Price quoted was $112. I politely ended the call and immediately ordered it online for $67 on a Friday and had it on the following Monday with free shipping. I would've bought it from MAG had it been at MSRP, but no way I was going to support that behavior. My first experience of this was purchasing four interior parts at $8 each ($32) and then I later found out I could've bought all four for about 2 or 3 bucks so this overcharging is widespread at MAG. It's as if MAG is unaware that the Internet is out there and that we customers know what things should cost--and that we have alternatives available. I guess their Ferrari & Aston Martin customers don't bat an eye when they're being overcharged, so they do it across the board. So you'll get good service, but keep your wits about you. 3 stars might be a little high, but I just couldn't go with "meh, I've experienced better". In fact, my other car dealership experiences were worse. Shopping for a car is just unpleasant, somehow. Some things I experienced at MAG were great. Others, not so great. I don't drive often, and I live in German Village. So, I wanted a small car (to fit in my tiny garage), I knew I wanted a lease, and that I wanted my payments to be low. (Who doesn't want low payments?) I ended up test driving a Mini Cooper and a Volkswagen. I saw on the Mini Cooper website something about a special sliding scale lease where you have a little bit more flexibility in mileage. I figured I could get away with a 6,000 annual mile lease without going over. However, the MAG Mini dealership had no idea what I was talking about, even when I emailed them the information directly from the website. Although my experiences physically AT MAG were great with Mini, their followup on the special lease was lacking. I never did hear what was up with that. I also did some calculations (via the website tool) for a more traditional lease. I came up with what looked like a fab payment, but then they said they didn't have anything even close-- no base model Minis. The Mini test drive experience was relaxed and comfortable. Unlike some other places I felt like they wanted me to have fun with the car. They didn't need insurance proof or to send a salesman with me. In the end though, there wasn't enough follow up and we never did get around to haggling a price. I moved on with my search and ended up with another car. At Volkswagen, the experience was mostly good. The showroom is pretty, there's more specialized attention, and I didn't feel like it was crawling with people. The sales tactics were not as aggressive, which I really liked. I still had some problems getting the salesman to look at ME instead of my boyfriend, who was only there for moral support. There were times I had to physically move my body to get in his line of sight to remind him to talk to ME, the customer. I ended up liking the Jetta for my needs. Maybe I was just really worn down from the car buying process, but I just really didn't want to go to another place and do it all again. That day, we weren't able to come up with a deal... and I was on my way out of town for a week. We ended up doing the haggling process via email, which was convenient and clear for me. I still feel like my payments were a little too high (automatic models didn't fall in the deep discount sales special categories... it's more than $60 per month additional cost just to have an automatic! wtf?), but honestly I just wanted to be done. They offered me a decent deal on my trade-in (eventually). Okay, great-- we have a deal. I paid my first month lease amount plus fees or whatever, and we made plans for me to pick it up the following weekend. Here's where things got weird. First, I neglected to bring my current insurance paperwork (it had just renewed), so we had to wait quite awhile (my dad went out to my house to look for it and bring it back to the dealership). My bad. During this downtime, however, one of the dealers I'd never seen before approached me and told me the payment we'd discussed was incorrect, and that it should actually be higher "based on your credit score." Nuh uh. We had offer, acceptance, and I paid the first amount. Lawyer'd. They said that "in the computer" it was higher and that no one had any knowledge of "official" approval for the ending amount. Oh, I was steamed. Of course, I had all of this in WRITING because we did the haggling via email. Finally, they honored my original payment amount, but... they made a big deal about how they were making an effort to "accommodate me." After I signed all the paperwork, the finance agent even said "I want you to know that even though the amount should have been higher based on what two of our agents saw, we honored the amount you claim you were told." 'Claim' I was 'told' nothin! I had it all in writing from the dealership, and I'd already paid! Finally, there's this business about a "Survey." I've been told by my salesman AND the finance agent that these reviews are "crucial" for them and they "must" get perfect scores. Both told me that if I planned on giving them less than perfect scores to call them first to discuss. I suspect a portion of their commission depends on the form getting filled out AND receiving perfect scores. This whole process feels really coercive, which is why I'm glad I have Yelp to vent. This is a big burden on the customer, plus it just feels wrong to tell the customer that the perfect scores are so "crucial." Gross. If VW or MAG or whoever wants an honest pulse on their business practices, this is not the way to do it. Overall, I'm happy with my car. I get roadside assistance and basic maintenance with my lease. Free car washes (at MAG) whenever I want. read more

Our experience was big promises, no follow-through, blatant lies, and lots of finger pointing. Before delivery, we were assured that all would go smoothly. We had nothing to worry about. We just needed to pay for the car. We did that in cash, up front. This was a big mistake. Once they had our money, everyone avoided our phone calls to arrange the delivery of our custom ordered Mini. Neither Bill Tippi (Finance Manager) nor Kris Murray (Mini Manager) would return our calls (for days) since they were busy selling cars to other customers. We had to make trips to the dealership to get anything from Kris Murray. He was unable to deliver our vehicle while it was on the lot for ten days. He promised to get us tags but we had to go to the administration offices ourselves. It took four trips to the dealership after they had our money. They were unable to register our new car for us after repeated promises to do so. We had to go to the DMV ourselves. Kris promised to give us the MSO for this purpose on two occasions and then suddenly claimed it was against the law. In the end, Richard Pryor (General Manager) apologized for the behavior of his employees. He also claimed to still be in the process of registering our car after we had already done so. To his credit, he did give us back the documentation fees since we had to register the car ourselves. However, he also tried to make more money off of us by offering a extended maintenance plan at "their cost." He later determined this to be $1350. This is the retail cost if you search the internet. In other words, they tried to make a profit on their apology. These guys ought to be selling used cars. read more

We have two Audi's, one of which was purchased at MAG and both serviced there. Our salesperson for my wife's Q5 (Ben Winner) was extremely knowledgeable during the purchase and orientation process. Unfortunately, both my wife's Q5 and my RS4 have had to make a few trips to the service department. Thankfully, the guys there are also excellent and do a great job of keeping us updated as repairs progress. We're always able to get a loaner and once, when the Q5's coolant tank leaked dry, Audi and MAG sent over a flatbed and picked up the car from our house, leaving a loaner in its place. I'm sorry other folks have not had as positive experience as my family, but if I buy another Audi (or if I win the lottery, an Aston Martin or Lamborghini), it will be from MAG. read more

I really enjoyed the service here, it was friendly, and the accomodations such as the waiting room were very nice. Of course, the main attraction was getting to see all the Lamborghinis and Rolls-Royces sitting around on MAG's expansive campus. I don't think I've ever seen that many nice cars from that many brands in one place, even at auto shows. On the other hand, I didn't appreciate how they bolted a "MIDWESTERN AUTO GROUP" license plate frame onto my 9-3 after performing my scheduled service. On top of that, they used strange screws (Torx?), probably intentionally so as to make it hard to take off. read more

I have been buying cars for years from MAG and have always have had great service from their BMW and Audi departments. Bought a Land Rover and the air suspension went out. Towed the car to MAG on Sunday night. Called them Monday to make sure they had it and was told it was in the rotation. So far so good. Called back that night and it had not made it in the shop yet but for sure it would go in tomorrow (Tuesday). Here it is Wednesday night and they have still not pulled it in to see what the problem is. Hmmmmm, will I buy another Ranger Rover? No OKAY, I have to fix this review. The campus is expansive. The brands are considerably upscale, which makes for a fun walk through the lots and show rooms. They have complimentary cafe areas and waiting rooms with comfortable seating and cable TV. The service staff for Audi at least is very competent and the pricing is surprisingly reasonable as compared to the rest of the shops in Columbus. read more

It took me a year of research to decide on what car I wanted. I narrowed it down to a few models and hit the pavement. I ended up at MAG because they had the color of Jetta I wanted. My sale process was friendly and not intimidating. I was surprised, it was a lot less painful than I expected. Fast forward a few months and I've been in for a couple of routine service appointments. The service is always efficient and the mechanic explains everything throughly. The waiting rooms are comfortable with a TV, beverages and free WIFI. The building is very impressive with a sleek modern design. It's always fun to walk around and check out the high end cars. My entire experience with MAG so far has been A-OK. read more

MAG brought about a dozen cars to the 2017 Columbus Auto Show and then surrounded their inventory with a barrier and posted a Columbus Police Officer so no one could see the cars up close...at an Auto Show. More than one salesman says Mag has a poor reputation. Many of the Yelp comments support that viewpoint. Why anyone would conduct business with these people is beyond me. read more

I brought in my 2009 VW Jetta for an oil change, brakes and broken brake light bulb. Although the cost of the brake work was quite high, the service was great. I first visited MAG with my fiancee who was shopping for a feul efficient VW. Lori Barber helped him and was friendly, informative, and very low pressure. To amuse myself, I poked around looking at Beetles, and then I discovered a Tiguan in the showroom. It was love at first sight. I had only owned my Honda CRV for about 4 years, but the seats had never been very comfortable for me, so I was open to finding something else. The incentives on new Tiguans weren't that great, so I held off for awhile. But I couldn't "get over" my crush! I stayed in touch with Lori (who never bugged or pressured me) and made the leap just before Thanksgiving. The actual purchase process was handled quickly and painlessly, and I was treated with courtesy and deference. I was introduced to the folks in the service department at the time of my purchase and was impressed by how clean the department was and the professionalism of the staff--and there was none of the typical chemical odor that is customary in the service departments in which I have been. I have had my new car serviced twice for regualr maintenance. I can make my appointments online and see what days and times are available, and I can make changes to the appointment. That service is so convenient for my busy life! My service appointments take a bit longer than I am used to, but that doesn't bother me because I really feel that the staff is being thorough. And they always wash my car for me! How cool is that! Also, there is an endless supply of coffee and comfy waiting areas where I always meet another happy VW owner. While I haven't used it myself, I believe there is internet access in the waiting area. I receive progress reports while I am there, and once my service is completed, my specialist comes to retrieve me, escorts me to the service department and discusses all services completed with me. On my last visit, the service technician immediately identified a tiny dent in one of my doors (the dredded first whack by some uncaring motorist!) and was able to give me information on the spot as to how the ding might be repaired and what the cost would be. This dealership surpasses my expectations at every turn! read more

Robert Cundiff is a bad representation for this business. He emailed me that it would cost $70 for diagnostics of my rear window defrost system. Yes I signed that it would cost $139, but then he emailed me it would be less. I went to pay, and they charged $139. I even got an email with what I was going to be paying shows $70. If this man would have told me that I would have paid to have the rear defrost fixed, and had the amount of the diagnostics go towards the work. No offer to have me come back to get it done later. Did not want to help in any way just took my $400, and seemed like he did not care. I already do not like the Volkswagen over off broad, and now I will not go to any Volkswagen. Purchased a second Lamborghini form a different dealership to avoid these guys. No one likes to spend the day worrying about getting the car serviced. When can they fit me in? How will I get back to work? Will the work be done on time? The problems go on and on. I have a tight work schedule that regularly keeps me at the office 11 or sometimes 12 hours a day. You can imagine my surprise when I found that the MAG service department asked me when I wanted to come, and was able to arrange my service the same day. They picked me up at work, notified me by telephone that in a routine safety check they had found two minor items I could choose to have them repair, didn't balk when I chose not to fix one, had the part in stock to fix the one I did want fixed, picked me up at work when they said they would, and carefully explained the bill to me. The bill was exactly as promised. I was accompanied back to the car, and all my questions were unhurriedly answered. Woohoo! Now that's five star service! read more

Special shout out to Bob the service consultant who got me in on a Saturday afternoon (they're open until 7 p.m. on Saturdays). When a part broke on my VW, Bob got me in, inspected the car, found the problem was less than the cost of the estimate and returned my car much cleaner than I brought it in. I am of the belief that dealer service is going to be much higher than a local garage, but I was pleasantly surprised by the good pricing -- especially in the Taj Mahal of a service center. I am a DIY sort of person but my VW needed some recall work done. I never went to MAG before and typically try to avoid dealers altogether. Their prices are so high and they just want to sell you more services than you need. MAG got my VW in the very next day. The service staff were as professional as they get. I got a oil change using synthetic oil for half off and the recall work was done promptly. They finished earlier than promised. They offered some other services and when I said I would perform them myself, they gave me some good advice. Overall, if I cannot get it done myself, I would strongly consider going to MAG again. Their professionalism and openness made me feel like I could really trust them. You still get dealer prices but the typical dealer attitude is not there. read more

Another Thumbs UP for MAG Volkswagen's service department!!!! Wife bought a low mileage used 2013 VW Beetle Turbo DSG from a local dealership (not MAG) and after purchasing, a few issues arose. The DSG was misbehaving, the sunroof was whistling, the gauge pod was rattling and there was what sounded like a heat shield rattle. We thought we bought a lemon. We schedule an appointment, the Tech rides with us, and acknowledges all of the issues. He even pointed out one we didn't catch, the window switch wasn't doing the auto down feature. Long story short, everything was fixed through various repairs, and 2 Technical service bulletins. My wife is ecstatic with her new car, and we can't be more pleased with our service from Bob the service writer, and Ken, the tech. Thanks! read more

This was my first time buying a new car in 10 years! I was unsure off the process and was ready for what I thought would be an arduous experience. Then I met Megan Bruzzese and she completely changed my mine. She was very honest and straight forward with the process. I was in the market for a Range Rover Evogue but was very specific about the amenities and the price range that I needed to be in. Over the span of 3 months she worked closely to keep me updated on the inventory while I waited patiently for what I wanted. She never tried to push me to buy something else which I really appreciated. I drove off with my new car yesterday and couldn't be more pleased! I was interested in upgrading to an SUV, and I wanted to explore the F-Pace. My father has owned Jaguar and I always liked them. I was timid going in to MAG Jaguar because I did not want to be brushed aside as "some woman on her own who can't afford our cars." Well, just because I wanted to take a test drive on my own, does not mean I am alone or unattached, which frankly shouldn't even be an issue. Well, that's exactly what seemed to happen. On the day I decided to go to the dealership, I stood in their showroom for five-ten minutes as multiple staff just walked passed me as if I didn't exist. Finally, I approached a young man who had been talking on his cell for the duration of my waiting. I asked him if there was a sales person available or if I was on my own. He chuckled and told me that of course I was not alone, and he tried to find someone for me. Another few minutes passed and this young man approached me. He was so incredibly rude, I cannot express. Basically, he told me that everyone way too busy and I should come back later or make an appointment if I wanted to see a car. So I left. When I went outside, a man in an Infinity greeted me and asked me if I needed help. I told him that according to the staff, no one could help me so I was leaving. Apparently this man was one of the sales managers, John. He quickly escorted me back in and tried to find keys for the car I wanted to drive. This took another 15 minutes as he could not find where the keys to the vehicle were. Now I'm thinking, finally some customer service. John found keys and let me take the car out on my own. Told me to have it back before closing. I began my test drive and had to pull over for an emergency with work. This is when I realize that he did not leave the key fob. So now I can't restart the car! At this point I look like I could've stolen it. I had to call the dealership and have someone come out to where I was to drop off the fob. At this point I'm beyond over it now. In good faith, John requested to set up a time for me to have the Pace for an all day test drive. I agreed on the next Sat so that my husband and I could drive it around and see how it felt. The morning the Pace was supposed to be dropped off at my home for the agreed upon test drive, John calls me and tells me that I have to come into the dealership so he can get a copy of my DL. SERIOUSLY! He took my DL the first time I was there. Apparently he didn't put it in his system. This wouldn't have been such a big deal if I didn't work across the street from the dealership! John knew that I could walk to the dealer from my job. If he needed information, why didn't he contact me sooner? He had 3 or 4 days to have me come by to get the info, but chose to call me when I should have been answering the door for the Pace drop off. This was my last straw. I do not appreciate getting the run around and being treated as though my money is not good enough for them, or worse, that they likely thought that I didn't have the money to spend in their precious dealership. This is so frustrating, because I am still looking at getting a Pace or their sister company Land Rover, but Mag is the only dealer in Columbus that has both and I don't know if I'm willing to try working with them again after this experience. read more

The service manager physically assaulted me during a dispute over damage to a loaner car. The paperwork to release the loaner car was not properly completed by the service associate when the car was given to us nor was a copy of the agreement given to us at the time. When we returned the car there was a small scuff on the bumper, we did not believe it occurred while the car was in our possession but the documentation of the inspection that was supposed to have occurred before giving us the car was not completed. The service manager would not release our car that was in for repair until we paid for the damage to the loaner which they claimed was nearly $600. After finally agreeing under duress to pay for the damage I asked for a copy of the loaner car agreement for my records. The service manager refused to give me a copy and threatened to remove me from the building with force. I tried to grab the copy of the agreement so I could show him where it stated I was entitled to a copy at which point he shoved me into a wall and proceeded to physically restrain me. Oh and on top of all this, the car that was in for repair to begin with had already been in once before for the same issue and was not fixed properly and even after this was still not fixed so we're on three attempts now to get one thing fixed on a car that is less than one year old. read more

I am an 81 year old who should have know better than to purchase a used car from this Dealership. I am sure the Fax I saw on the salesman's computer, and could not see because of huge windows behind computer, was not the one I signed! I WOULD HAVE NEVER PURCHASED A CAR WHICH HAD BEEN WRECKED WITH A PAINT JOB! FOR $25,000 plus my excellent Toyota 2013 with 37500 miles. Nothing wrong with it! I tried to return the car and they would not let me. I tried to trade for another and I had to pay 8,000 more for a car that was 24 on line and mine was 23K. I have purchased at least a dozen new and used high line vehicles from mag over the years. Never again, even though I live in the area. This company appears to care about only one thing, and that's taking your $$$. Arrogant, rude, unresponsive, uninformed are some of the words that come to mind. Needed help with a replacement Bentley key recently and all of my previous experiences were repeated. After 3 days calling Bentley parts, service, and sales I gave up. Dallas Bentley was quite helpful and resolved the key issue in minutes. They have one tiny parts counter for all brands on the campus. Be prepared for a long wait. Loaner cars may be avail if you schedule maint. a year out. I have nothing good to say, and our relationship is over. I'm posting this primarily because several vm"s left for the owners assistant were never returned. read more

i always had positive impressions of the staff and service at MAG until a recent event. We purchased my VW Passat a number of years ago at MAG and routinely took it in for service. I never had an issue and found the service staff friendly and helpful. However my car would always be returned with their license plate holder with name, which I did not want and would remove as soon as possible since I am not keen on being used for advertisement w/o permission. After 4 or 5 of these occurrences, I asked them to take the tag holder off and please not do again. Problem solved so it seemed. Fast forward a few years, and I need to change tags...absolutely impossible to remove screws. Take to another mechanic, who after much effort is able to remove the screws, but feels that were waaay overtorqued...on every screw, to the extent must be intentional. Who put on? Well, the last mechanic at MAG who I asked to remove obnoxious plate holder. Of course this is a little and petty thing, but then again....if someone in service would do that because I don't want their tag holder, I worry about how they could sabotage service that actually matters. It's too bad, I'm ready for a new VW but don't feel like this sort of service is what I want in the future. Run the other way!! Fast!! MAG, BMW dealership in Dublin has the worst customer service with the most unprofessional and rudest Managers. A while ago my model BMW was recalled through a national class action settlement, regarding problems with the cracking sub frame. I brought it to MAG and they performed the work at their official body shop. After 29 days, I received my car back and immediately noticed severe and dangerous pulling into the left while the steering wheel was into the right. The 4 wheel alignment was performed again and again in a number of different shops and no one was able to solve the handling issue and align the car. Obviously the sub frame was welded onto the car incorrectly. A few weeks later I moved out of state for number of years and had to drive the car in such a condition. When my job brought me back to Columbus I tried to re-address the ongoing issue with the MAG but was met with thug like attitude of every manager there. Yesterday I was practically chased out of their dealership after speaking with Director of fixed operations, Kirby Morrow and later on with the manager, Pat Biles who was unbelievably rude and belligerent. Now I am driving a dangerous car with a DSC, (Dynamic Stability Control), warning light ON, confirming what I have been experiencing all along that the car is unsafe to be driven. Manager Pat Biles basically chased me out of the MAG and was not even interested in test driving the car to see how severe the problem is! read more

Friendly folks with a good collection of both moderate and high end cars. While I did not end up buying here as I found a better deal I'd definitely go back the next time I'm shopping, particularly if looking for something a little more luxurious. read more
