As a keen pilot I am always looking to try out different types of planes. I've piloted Spitfires, P51 Mustangs and been in an Avro Lancaster. I didn't think any of these classic WW2 planes could be topped, that is until I had a go in the Mig15 in the Czech republic The difference in power is astronomical! Everything about the experience was perfectly organised and I never had any worries that something might go wrong with the booking. A free transfer from Prague is offered and the airfield is about a 90 minute drive away. I was collected at exactly the arranged time and driven safely to the airfield. Upon arrival I was given a very warm welcome by all the crew and introduced to the pilot who was previously part of the Czech air force and had experience of flying the Mig 21 and Saab Grippen. I was going to be in safe hands! After a briefing to discuss my experience I was kitted up and taken straight to the Mig. I was given a thorough safety talk and the engines were started up. Wow, the noise! We taxied down towards the runway and people waved at us as we went past. I waved back and I think a few of them were convinced that I was a genuine air force pilot :D The take off was a real kick in the back and we immediately started performing turns and various aerobatics and experienced about 4g. I was given a lot of stick time and the pilot kept telling me what he expected of me and when I should turn left/right and so on. He even let me perform a few barrel rolls :-) After lots of exciting manoeuvres we did a fast pass down the runway at 800 kph then pulled straight up vertically, experiencing 5g. It was an amazing experience and I truly felt like a fighter pilot for an all too brief time. First of all, what a cool concept! To fly a military fighter jet...it's mind blowing to think that this possibility exists for us regular civilian folks. From the time I saw the movie Top Gun, I wanted to ride in a fighter jet. The speed, the maneuvers, the roar of the engine, I loved the possibility of it all. A couple years ago, my husband found MiGFlug and a few days ago, this 66-year-old woman was in an L-39 Albatros at 15,000 ft enjoying rolls, dives, vertical climbs, the Split S, the Cuban Eight and more, at G forces up to 4.5, maybe even a 5 during the vertical climb. Loved it all. Prior to the flight, I watched the video about the L-39 provided by MiGFlug to familiarize myself with the plane and on flight day, my pilot spent almost two hours explaining safety features, how to recognize if you're about to pass out or vomit (glad to say that neither became an issue for me) and what G-force I would experience during each maneuver. We also practiced getting in and out of the plane and attaching the parachute and seat harnesses. All of this helped me feel confident and relaxed. During the flight he repeatedly checked up on me by asking how I was doing and would then give me a heads-up on what maneuver we were going to do next. We bought the video-of-the-flight option (which I highly recommend) and you can see me smiling through the ENTIRE 45 minute flight. It was a blast and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Being 40 years old now, I was 9 years old when the movie Top Gun came out in 1986. This was the point where many kids first dreamed of piloting a fighter jet and I was no different. Fast forward to today and MigFlug has made that dream come true. I flew the L39 Albatros out of Chino, CA and had an absolutely amazing experience!! Philipp made the booking very easy and my pilot Istvan was kind, professional and was an expert pilot. Great detail was given during our pre-flight talk so I knew exactly what to expect before we began our flight. Istvan dynamically tailored the flight to my body's response to the G-forces (per my mid-flight feedback) so I never felt like I was unsafe or not in control of the flight plan. By far the most exciting venture I've been on! This was my first time in a fighter jet and was somewhat anxious as to what to expect, of course. The pilot ( Mr. Chipman) is a true professional, very thorough and patient with his pre-flight explanation of safety procedures and aircraft technologies. There is a lot to learn, but it just inspires you to want to learn more. In flight, the pilot maintains constant communication with you to assure a safe and pleasurable experience. The fighter jet flight experience out of Chino, California was awesome and a must to try! Save up money to take a 45- or 60- minute flight and experience what an elite group of military-trained jet pilots see and do in the air! Age is not a problem as long as you are in good health, you will enjoy the jet ride. My business colleague is in his late 70's and he could not stop talking about the ride; the view; and the maneuvers he went through. The fighter jet ride is worth the price. This was a really cool experience where I went for a ride in a fighter jet! We went up and did all types of aerobatics (airplane stunts) and it really gave me the feeling of being a real fighter pilot!
