My wife bought me a coconut wax candle as a gift, and I was excited to try it. Shortly after lighting it, the candle started emitting thick black smoke -- enough to set off my smoke detector. I immediately blew it out. Black smoke is a sign of poor combustion and soot production, which isn't healthy to breathe indoors. Regardless of the wax type, this candle clearly burned unsafely. This was a fun alternative for a girl's night out! I came to try a soap making session with a friend. The location itself is adorable (located inside San Pedro Sq. Mkt) with a wonderful mural and cozy, pink decor. I felt like we had plenty of space at our table to experiment and we didn't feel rushed throughout the process. Mari was a great instructor, totally hyping us up and bringing the best energy. Even though some of the activity is more "self-explanatory", she did a great job at keeping our energy high. As someone who always forgets to take pics, she was totally encouraging and made sure my friend and I walked away with plenty of cute videos and pictures. The experience is about $56 pp after tax + tip. I did find it to be a little pricey but I also understand that this is a small/family business. I do wish that I could've picked 1 custom scent PER soap, rather than being limited to one scent for all 3. Either way, happy to have walked away with my beautiful soaps! I haven't been on this side of San Pedro market for a little bit, and I didn't know this cute little shop just opened up! My friend and I smelled a beautiful aroma and had to walk in to find somebody making candles and it was so cute and quaint such an adorable idea! My friend and I didn't wanna make any candles, but they did have some really great solves or body bombs lotions so we ended up buying one for $20! I got this cherry blossom one and they also had a lychee something that smelled really good! My girlfriend got one that was a muscular heavier smell, but she likes stronger sense than I do. I recently had a virtual team-bonding experience with MiGi Cera Candles and it was SO fun! Before the class, we got to choose from one of the many scents available. The website has good key descriptors of what each scent has notes of so it's a little easier to choose. We also got to choose if we wanted to add dried flowers or glitter onto our candle which was a fun touch. My kit arrived and it was packaged very well so that nothing was broken in transit. My candle jar was a light purple color, loved it! The class itself was very fun to do. Our instructor was interactive and taught a lot about candle care which I appreciate. All you needed was a microwave so this was a great virtual experience. My candle smells SO good and I love the dried flowers that I added. I had heard such great things about MiGi Cera Candles and the virtual activities they host that I had to book them for my next team building activity. And I'm so glad I did! Marcelina was a delight to work with! She made ordering the kits for my team, who live coast to coast, easy. Everyone was able to pick the scents they wanted from MiGi Cera's long list. The kits were expertly packed and put together. Marcelina also stayed in contact with me about any boxes that could not be delivered, so that the recipient would know to pick them up at the post office instead. It was also neat that everyone got a different ceramic container for their candles, matching the mood of the scent they had chosen. And then for the actual virtual activity, Marcelina handled it beautifully. We learned about her business and passion for candles and tips that we can carry on after this, such as the importance of cutting your wicks. Creating our candles took the full time of the class and flowed really well. Everyone was able to keep up with her. I also didn't realize this at the time, but this was the first candle-making class for everyone who participated! I wish I lived in the Bay Area so I could go to MiGi Cera in person. I found out about MiGi Cera Candles on instagram and was so glad I did, because ya girl has been dying to make a candle! My team ended up doing a virtual candle making class with Marcelina for a team offsite and everyone had so much fun. Marcelina was a great host and everyone got really into the process. Not to mention, we all ended the session with a fabulous candle! For the virtual class you choose your fragrance and then they ship everything you need to make your candle, including a vessel that matches your fragrance. Even though making the candle is a relatively quick process, we were able to fill the roughly 45 minute session learning about MiGi Cera and asking lots of questions. Before our virtual class I checked out the shop located within Sueños downtown San Jose, and was blown away by all the fragrances they had! So glad I got to smell them before (I can be sensitive to certain scents) so I could pick out the perfect fragrance to use. They have a huge variety and all fragrances are a blend of multiple scents, so they really are unique to this shop. Love that they also refill candles for half price if you bring them back in. I have two at home, and will absolutely be taking them back for more once they run out. read more

A while back I participated in a virtual team building/bonding experience with MiGiCeraCandles hossting, and - as a candle lover - it was so much fun to "make my own"! First we were able to select the scent we wanted from the Fragrance Menu online. There were *so many* incredible options to choose from - and, later on, we would find out that each blend of aromas was meaningful to owner Marcelina, and intentionally put together to resonate a moment in her life, a person, a place, etc. Future scents that I would love to try: Horchata (cinnamon, vanilla bean, rice milk, sugar) from the Delicious Collection, Luna (sea salt, vanilla, cardamom, musk) from the Spa Collection, and Abuelo (honeysuckle, jasmine, amber, and ginger) from the Botanical Collection. For this occasion, I chose Bosque: lavender, rainwater, sea salt, and cedar. To be totally honest, my package arrived with half of the oil spilled all over the inside of the box. Literally everything inside was covered. I took photos and emailed them to Marcelina; she assured me that my candle itself would still be fine. I was skeptical because a) wow, was the scent overwhelming and b) wow, was there oil everywhere. But: everything DID work out just fine! My microwave is very, very old and we made candles when it was winter for me (like 12 degrees outside), so it took me probably four or five times as long to melt the oil, but Marcelina did a great job providing directions verbally AND on an instruction card in the kit, so you'll never feel lost during the process. Love the wooden wick, it provides such a soothing crackling sound! Love that each of us got different colored ceramic vessels based on the fragrance we chose! Love the smell more than I thought I would, given it was so strong initially! Love that the candles are clean (coconut wax), and that I don't have to worry about any weird toxins for me or my fur baby! read more

What a fun and stress-free team building class with MiGi Cera Candles! Thanks Marcelina! We did a virtual candle-making class. Selected a scent from the website in advance - there are MANY to choose from and they all sound incredible. I chose Paloma (love all the citrus!). Then our kits were shipped to us in advance of the class: beautiful packaging, everything neatly nestled in a box and bed of crinkle paper. Each scent received a different colored vessel - mine is a pretty, clear iridescent glass. Marcelina started the class with an intro and her backstory - she's a busy working Mom and this is her passion project / side-hustle - and she told us all about the quality of the clean ingredients she uses. Then she walked us through the steps: set the wick in the vessel, melt the coconut wax in the microwave, mix the fragrance oil into the melted wax (she gives a full ounce of oil to make the candle extra fragrant), pour the mixture into the vessel, and let the candle set for 24 hours. Marcelina taught us about different types of wicks and how long to burn our candles for maximum burn-time over the course of the candles life. She may be offering refill kits in the future so we'll keep our eyes out for those. Either way, the pretty vessel can be repurposed in the future. I went here for an event, and it was "FAB"--wait, that's the place next door, equally just as awesome. Yes, they do amazing candle events for parties and much more, and I attended one, considering scheduling one for my daughters friends soon too. They will say so too. However, the owners here had a vision and brought passion to their business. Don't we all want to do something we're passionate about? Well, this candle maker and mom has now got her passion in action and is sharing her knowledge and amazing learning along the way with others. It's like the do's and don'ts of candles--you don't have to have the don'ts because she opened this place to pass it to you. With fabulous scents that last and won't die, you know those candles you buy that smell good for like the first 60 seconds you have them home, then gone? NOT THESE SCENTS. My candle is on a warmer, and it's still smelling or sweating its scent throughout. She said a normal candle being burned gets 6-8 hours, whereas a warmed candle gets 86 days. DAYS, I SAY! Well, my candle sits on a warmer sometimes in the front portion of my house and moves to the back at sunset to bring some smell and relaxation to my back rooms. It's quite amazing. I also learned lots of things in my candle-making class. Little secrets I shall not share. Your job is to go and get those secrets. So, if you love candles, this is your spot. Love smelly candles? This is your spot. And this location is perfect too. Coffee to the left and the FAB to the right--you could literally get coffee, walk around, enjoy downtown, come see the shop, make a candle, then grab lunch. It's the perfect day. The store also has two other shops in it, all with handmade goods, and they are so cute. Just knowing my daughter is going to make this place a stopping point like I will from here on out. read more

As an avid candle lover, and former candle maker, I was super excited for this virtual candle making class with MiGi! The kit includes everything you need right down to the warning sticker on the bottom. Marcelina walked us through the process, explaining the importance of utilizing natural materials in the kits. The step-by-step class was so informatory and inclusive. Unfortunately, it took about 15 minutes for my wax to melt which delayed my participation for a bit but when it was melted, I could tell this was a high quality wax! I chose Obsesíon and obsessed was an understatement! I love a tropical fruity candle, and this scent reminded me of DW's Lava which is pretty much always burning in my home. The vessel is the only thing I wasn't a fan of. It may have been because there wasn't enough wax, but with each burn the inside of the vessel would get darker and darker. About a week before the workshop, I received a beautifully wrapped box that contained everything I needed for the class: a vessel, wick, fragrance, wax, stirrer, and more. I got to pick my scent from her website ahead of time and then all the supplies were quickly shipped. I'm in Hawaii and everything got here perfectly packaged way ahead of our scheduled class.
