After my first treatment I still wasn't sure acupuncture did anything, but I enjoyed the time I spent with Min - she was loving in a way most doctors aren't (or at least most doctors don't openly show care and concern on a first visit). She listened without judgement and never pushed a specific treatment but gave recommendations and discussed options that fit my lifestyle. After a few visits I started seeing real changes in my health and I've been seeing her ever since. One was a dime-sized bump above my upper lip that was itchy, red, sensitive, and ugly. It was so painful that I couldn't even go over it with a washcloth and it stuck out so far that you could see it from the side. My other bad scar area was actually inside my bottom lip. This scar was tight and I didn't have any feeling at all in half of my bottom lip. I went to Gainesville Holistic Healthcare to check out microcurrent point stimulation (MPS). The staff there worked with me to find a routine that worked for me. I ended up going twice a week for 15 minutes each to manage all of my scars. By the end of the first month, the scar above my upper lip was flat, less red, and not painful at all anymore. The scar inside my bottom lip was pretty abnormal, but Traci worked with me to find the best protocol. By November, I finally started to get feeling back in my bottom lip, and the scars didn't feel nearly as tight. I seriously can't express how great this place is. The staff are all nice, welcoming, and extremely accommodating. Face injuries are so personal, and they were just as happy as I was every time I hit a new milestone in my healing. The 1st appt is the longest where they go through your full medical history, anything causing stress, pain, etc. Carlos suggested I try at least 3 appts to start so he could get a good "clearing" and see where to go from there. I know you can't expect a complete life change from 1 appt so I told him I was committed to going on a regular basis to try and help myself. I'm personally an insomniac and the stress was making things worse to where I couldn't shut my brain off at all. The first round during the appt I was still pretty stressed so he did another round to bump me into relaxation. I actually fell asleep and he left me to relax and sleep for a while. I'm not kidding you when I say I walked out of my first appt with energy, feeling rejuvenated and in a better headspace all together! The needles don't hurt and if you have a fear of needles I still think you can benefit from acupuncture because it's not like getting blood drawn or anything like that.
