The service I came in for specifically was for Apple CarPlay unit with a physical volume knob in my 2014 Honda Civic, which isn't always easy to find. They went out of their way to source one, and the installation went smoothly. Good value too- this is definitely not something I could have tackled on my own. The shop itself has a great waiting area with free WiFi, plus water and snacks while you wait. Staff was friendly and professional across the board. With less than an hour left until the promised completion time, it was obvious the job couldn't possibly be finished as agreed. I politely explained that I needed to cancel and requested a full refund of my deposit, as they had not honored their end of the commitment. Instead, I was offered only $40 back, with the explanation that they had already ordered parts and that delays were due to other jobs running long--not their fault, according to them. I took the partial refund and left, but this left a very bad taste. If I had simply changed my mind without any issues on their side, I would understand them retaining some or all of the deposit to cover ordered parts or opportunity cost. However, they failed to deliver on the clear timeline they provided and never communicated any potential delay ahead of time, despite me checking in. Holding $60 of my money after breaking their own promised completion time feels unfair and unprofessional. Customer service should include basic communication about realistic timelines--especially when a deposit is taken and an appointment is scheduled. I expected better accountability from a business that advertises customer satisfaction as a priority. Unfortunately, this experience has made me unwilling to recommend HB Auto Sound. If you're considering them for audio or camera installs, be prepared for possible delays and inflexible policies on deposits/refunds. There are other shops in the area that may value clear communication and customer time more highly. 1 star - would not return.

Insurance was covering, so price really wasn't an issue dor me. They aren't cheap, but they do amazing work. Turn around time was laid out in front of me, and they met the goal. It was a LONG process (read 1.5 months); if I didn't have a provided rental it may have affected my rating, but I did have one. Everything with the insurance process, getting me to/from the rental location, communication with me and the adjustor, and workmanship were all top notch. Ran into some issues on first attempt at a pick up, but they rectified it with fixing the issue, as well as transportation and delivery to the Irvine location. I then had wheels installed at the performance shop in Irvine. Again, it wasn't cheap, but they met all expectations. Shout out to Issa, Luis, Josh and all the of the SSR team that worked on my vehicle. If owners of high end luxury cars and supercars trust SSR, you should to. However, I followed up a couple weeks later asking if a certain date worked. I even explained that I had been busy and said the only time I'd have to bring in the car would be the following week. I paid $450 for this wrap and an extra $100 for the wrap itself. When the first job was done poorly, I went back to the shop to address the issues and they said they would fix it. I texted on a Tuesday expecting a response, and I waited until Sunday to follow up again. Instead of Lisa taking accountability, she told me I "did not reach out," which is extremely unprofessional and untrue. I had apologized for being busy, and I did reach out; she just did not respond. When I reminded her the job was poorly done and how there had been no response, she took zero accountability and tried to use my words against me. Lisa ignored my response when I explained how the situation should have been handled and how she failed to reply in a professional manner. As the customer, I should not have to teach someone how to treat me correctly or how to run a shop professionally. I wasn't trying to start problems; I stated the truth about the situation, but she did not like that. I went back because I had already paid and just wanted the work corrected. I dropped my car off again on Monday around 11:30am. The shop texted me claiming the wrap "wouldn't adhere," which I knew was an excuse. I told them to proceed because the material was fine, and if they couldn't install it, that was their shop's error. The rest of my car's wrap was perfectly fine. To double-check, I contacted the previous shop, who confirmed this shop was making excuses, saying, "The wrap sticks just fine. It sticks on the rest of your car fine. They're talking nonsense." I knew they no longer wanted to service me, and I no longer wanted their service either. I paid a good amount of money for this treatment. I made sure the job would get done. The shop told me the job would be done by Wednesday late afternoon. This was the second time they confirmed a deadline and failed to meet it. I made it clear from the start that I have a busy schedule and cannot afford delays, yet they did not respect that. Removing and rewrapping a front bumper is a 1-2 day job, it is not like I was asking to wrap half the car. I set a boundary that if it was not ready by 5pm Wednesday, as they confirmed, I would request a refund. My whole car was wrapped, had parts added, brakes caliper color change, and badges blacked out in about a week. I took it to another shop before taking it here. (Dependable Guys in Santa Ana) I am not a professional, but I am not stupid. There were no photo updates either, I had to ask for them. When they finally sent a picture, the wrap looked freshly slapped on two days after I dropped the car off. The day I dropped it off, they said the wrap did not adhere. It looked like my car sat there for two days until I asked for the photo, or it took them two days to remove a month old wrap and throw on one big piece lol.. My car is a small sedan, a CLA, not a supercar or SUV. Her words were: "Ok we will remove all the wrap and give you your money back. Come and pick it up today." She added, "You are demanding the refund so come get it. We cannot accommodate the time frame for you. Thank you we will be gone by 5 so please make it in time so we can process the refund." However, Mark (the installer) had reached out to me and told me him and his co worker would come into work early to finish the job. This was the second time they broke their own deadline, and instead of taking accountability, she tried to flip it back on me. Lisa took everything personally when this situation should have been handled with professionalism. I never asked them to remove my wrap; I just wanted the job done properly. The installer Mark was professional, but Lisa was disrespectful, dismissive, and extremely immature in how she handled the situation. I told them to leave the wrap and keep the money. This was their mistake, which took up the free time I rarely have. Even after I explained my situation, reminded them of prior mistakes, and was patient with the delays, they still couldn't get the job done on time. I didn't want or need the money back; I needed my car back lol. It was clear they didn't take me seriously, and I was forced to escalate this further, which she didn't like either. This was waste of time and caused unnecessary stress. I was frustrated because I had to deal with unprofessional and immature behavior. All I got were excuses, missed deadlines, and poor communication. This business does not stand on its word or its service. Don't bring your car here. Many shops in OC offer far better service and professionalism. I recommend Dependable Guys in Santa Ana! It turns out the wrap sticks just fine and clearly they were making excuses... 3 weeks no issues.

They quoted me way under anyone else that I had called prior to going with them. I will recommend A-1 Muffler Express to all of my friends and family. They all make you feel that you're part of the family. They offered me coffee and cold water while I waited for my car to be done. One thing to remember, they are experts in mufflers, exhaust systems, and not any other type of work. But it never hurts to ask if they can do it for you!

Throughout this situation, I tried to remain professional and respectful and expressed my willingness to resolve everything amicably. Yet, after paying nearly $4,000 for a re-gear service, I discovered a massive gear oil leak covering my driveway the very next morning due to an improperly secured axle. This left my driveway stained and reeking of gear oil--with professional cleaning estimates ranging from $400 to $600--and I spent the entire weekend in anxiety, questioning whether my truck was even safe to drive, and eventually having to return it on Monday, which disrupted my business. During this process, I was communicating with my assigned service advisor, but responses were often delayed, unclear, or evasive; messages went unanswered, questions were redirected, and clear answers were difficult to obtain. When I brought the truck back, it was described as "just a loose axle" and claimed fixed, yet no documentation was provided proving that the differential or internal gears were inspected after I had driven it for an hour while leaking. Their claim that "there is no problem" or "everything is fine" is something no reasonable person could trust. With re-gear work, any mistake or improper setup often only becomes apparent after several thousand miles of driving. This is why a formal guarantee is not just a request, but a necessity. When I requested a formal written warranty, they only gave me a $0 invoice with no actual warranty terms or duration. For days, I calmly requested two very reasonable things: a formal written warranty and a fair resolution for the driveway damage. I never demanded compensation for emotional distress or lost business time; I simply asked for accountability. After experiencing this, I looked through other reviews and realized that my experience was not an isolated incident. I strongly urge everyone to READ THE 1-STAR REVIEWS FIRST before coming here. You will see a chilling and habitual pattern: dodging responsibility, being 'afraid of standing behind their work,' and sneakily adding extra charges--then claiming they are unavoidable. In fact, I later realized the overcharge I experienced was just a small fraction compared to what others have reported. You will also notice that the owner's responses to negative reviews are always the same--robotic, defensive, and dismissive. They publicly ask customers to 'contact us' to give the appearance of being helpful, but it is nothing more than a deceptive marketing tactic. If they truly intended to resolve these issues, my driveway wouldn't still be stained, and I wouldn't be left with a useless $0 invoice instead of a real warranty. I am sharing my experience and my filing with the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) so that other victims know there is a formal way to seek accountability. After seeing so many similar complaints, I strongly encourage anyone who has had similar experiences with their safety, property damage, or deceptive billing to file a formal complaint with the BAR as well. As a business owner for over 20 years, I understand mistakes happen, but I cannot accept a refusal to take responsibility. I am now filing a formal complaint with the Bureau of Automotive Repair and initiating a credit card dispute. A strong online presence means nothing if a company fails to protect its customers' safety and property. [UPDATE: Response to the Owner's Reply] The owner's response below is exactly what I warned about: a robotic, defensive excuse that shifts the blame. They claim a 'failed C-clip' on an aftermarket part, but as any professional knows, this is a clear sign of improper installation, not a part failure. They also claim they 'verified' no internal damage, yet they provided zero technical proof or a detailed inspection report after I drove with no oil for an hour. Mentioning a '90-day warranty' now is laughable--if that were true, why did they refuse to provide a formal written warranty when I asked for it repeatedly for days? Their response is just another marketing tactic to look responsible in public while remaining unaccountable in private. My filing with the BAR and the credit card dispute will proceed as planned.

Since buying the Jeep, I've had to replace the left and right cylinder head gasket, thermostat, water pump, water pump gasket, oil cooler assembly, spark plugs, and battery clamps. The vehicle developed persistent engine stalling issues, misfires, coolant loss, white exhaust smoke, and transmission-related problems. I was later informed of transmission fault code P0732, indicating potential transmission failure, and have also had to investigate replacing the crankshaft position sensor in an attempt to keep the vehicle running properly. I understand that used vehicles can require maintenance, but the extent and severity of these repairs after only one year have been extremely disappointing. I trusted Blackstar Offroad to sell a reliable vehicle, and instead I've spent a significant amount of time, stress, and money (thousands) dealing with major mechanical failures. I'm not writing this review out of spite. I'm sharing my experience in hopes that future customers can make a more informed decision than I did. Please do your homework, have any vehicle independently inspected before purchasing, and make sure you're prepared for the possibility of unexpected repair costs. Based on my experience, I would not purchase another vehicle from Blackstar Offroad. I was truly excited and worked hard to make the purchase but the financial stress and emotional burden of not having my vehicle while it was going through multiple shops to confirm and execute the repairs was definitely not worth it - I definitely learned my lesson not bringing a mechanic with me to inspect the vehicle before the purchase. 'Please inspect people, don't trust these dealers they won't tell you everything'.
